I stumbled across this book from another post recently that completely changed how I think about food.

We’re so used to fridges, supermarkets, and next day delivery that I honestly never stopped to think about how people actually ate before all that existed. This book is basically a collection of old recipes that were designed to last months or even years without refrigeration. The same kind of food our great grandparents (and great great grandparents) relied on.

What surprised me most wasn’t even the recipes, it was the mindset. Everything was about making food stretch, using what you had, and not relying on systems that could disappear overnight. Reading it made me realize how dependent we are now compared to even a couple generations ago.

I’ve tried a handful of the recipes so far. Some are definitely outside my normal rotation, but a few were genuinely good and oddly satisfying knowing they’d keep without power or fancy storage.

It’s less of a cookbook and more of a little history lesson disguised as one. Made me appreciate how resilient people used to be, especially when it came to food. I wanted to make this post as a bit of a shoutout to the creators for putting it together and the person who shared it here a couple months back (I couldn't find the old post to go back and comment).

Here's the website I bought the cookbook from, it's a pretty niche book so I don't think it's available on any mainstream platforms - survivalsuppers.com

Under 1acre

Anyone know where a decent spot of land 1 acre for sale by owner under 10,000 in a safe “community” for sale would be! I’ve got an enclosed trailer conversion set up for solar and be completely off grid! Can be anywhere really, that allows stealth. It’s where my soul longs to be! Would be much appreciated

Thinking of renting out my off-grid forest cabin near Zagreb. Would you actually stay here, or is it too primitive?

My grandma is selling her off grid property: info in caption

So my grandma is selling her off the grid property for an asking price of 550k so she can move out where I am so we can take care of her due to her health issues. The land is 120 acres in the mountains about 30 minutes away from Fresno. There is a house on the land but it’s unpermitted so the selling price is just what the land costs and the house just comes with it no extra cost. There is also a lot of heavy duty equipment that I believe she is selling with it. The house is off the grid with its own septic tank and generator, I also think there is a solar panel but I think most of the power is from the generator. I believe there are also people who own land next to it that rent the land for the cows. There are 4 bedrooms, three upstairs and one downstairs. One of the upstairs bedrooms has been freshly painted and had new click lock flooring put in. The other two rooms upstairs could use the same treatment. There is also a big basement. Please message if interested!

Edit: apparently it’s listed as a 3 bedroom but I’ve been up there and I could have sworn there were 4 so idk what that’s about but yeah

Possible land for a tiny home

Is anyone looking for land in Eastern Washington to put a tiny home on? I own a small piece of property in a very small town. The town told me that it is too close to the creek to build a home. This wasn’t an issue when I bought the land. I’m now looking at options and thought maybe someone else would like to buy it for a tiny home. Im not a bot or a real estate agent. I’m just exploring my options to see if anyone can benefit.
