Trachten for a very big guy

I’ll be attending Oktoberfest this year and I want to wear traditional lederhosen, but I’m a very overweight guy and I’m worried about being able to find my size in Munich. Does anybody have recommendations for stores that would sell trachten in my size? I have a US size 50 waist. Thank you.

Help! Unexpected trip

Hi everyone,

My friend and I (early 30s) will be in Munich Sept 16–20 and, due to an unexpected change in our original group trip, we’re now planning Oktoberfest completely on our own🥲

We’ll be there opening weekend and want the FULL experience (dirndls, beer tents, food, rides, meeting people, basically making a whole day of it) but we have absolutely no idea what we’re doing.

A few questions:

-Can two people realistically get into the big tents without reservations?
-How early should we arrive?
-is it better to stay in one tent or bounce around?
-what tents would you recommend for two women in their early 30s looking for a fun/social atmosphere?
-Should we book one of the GetYourGuide/Viator packages with a reserved table, or just wing it? Most seem to only include ~4 hours at a table.

Basically, if you were two girls showing up opening weekend with zero plans and wanted to have the BEST Oktoberfest experience, what would you do? 😂🍻

Also totally open to meeting people/joining a group. Any advice is appreciated!!

Reservation resell purchasing

Hi I’m looking to go to Oktoberfest this September with a group of 8. Dates are very flexible and I’m completely open to paying a resell price for a table reservation in the tents. Where exactly is a trusted source to do so.

Hotels booking for 2027

Anyone have their hotel booked for 2027 already, or am I way too early? It’s my first time looking into going and feeling a bit overwhelmed!

I have recently planned a weekend trip to Munich end of September. How does tent reservations work?

Hi, I will have a group of 4 people. Are tent reservations still possible or is it too late?

What songs to learn?

Hello friends! I’m planning on going to Oktoberfest this year and I read that it’s recommended to learn some songs for the tents. My question is what songs to learn and are there certain artists to listen to rather than just look up whatever version. A Spotify playlist would be awesome if anyone had one. Thanks for any help!

Best Afterparty Oktoberfest 2026

Hey guys. I am traveling with friends to Oktoberfest from Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th of September.

A close German friend suggested these after parties:

Best one: P1

Also really good:

  • Lenbachs
  • 089 Bar
  • Wiesnclub

Do you have other suggestions?
And, when would you go where? (Example: Thursday P1, Friday ...).

Moreover, would you buy a table or normal entry is good?
I saw that Lenbachs offers a 50 euro Standing table, do you think it makes sense?

Thank you in advance

Oktoberfest Outfit

I've been looking for an outfit for Oktoberfest this year with a very low budget but even the second hand dirndls are expensive so I bought this one. I was wondering if I could get away with wearing this or if anyone knows a better place to get one!

Oktoberfest

I have a group of 10ish friends and we’re planning to go to Oktoberfest next Fall.

Some of the group has never been out of the country and they want to spend a couple days in another country before or after we go to Oktoberfest. Does Amsterdam make the most sense? Would anywhere else nearby be more enjoyable for a group of men in their late 20’s?

We have heard we need to reserve a table early for Oktoberfest, but any other recommendations for making the planning as smooth as possible would be much appreciated!

Looking for tips as an international first timer at Oktoberfest

Me and My friend both in 30s, we are travelling to munich oktoberfest for the first time. We are travelling on 2nd October and looking to hit it early i guess by 9 or 10.

We want to know which test are best to experience the authentic oktoberfest vibes, and how to identify the unreserved seats, and what type of beers are available

Thanks you in advance for your recommendation

Do I need an appt to buy a dirndl?

My husband and I are going to Oktoberfest in late September. I want a real dirndl and he wants a lederhosen.

We want to buy. We do not want to rent.

Do we need to make an appointment at a shop to try on and buy?

We are going with friends who have told us we need to make an appointment and that it won't be easy to just walk into a shop and buy one. But I think they are confusing the ease of buying to renting - what I am reading online is that you need an appointment if you want to RENT an outfit. Not buy.

We go to several Oktoberfest celebrations annually in the USA so we would love an authentic outfit to wear when we come back!

Thanks

Renting dirndl for 1 day or 2?

Can you change there on the spot and return the same day or next day only.
Are stores readily available similar to Kyoto and their kimonos? Or should I make an appointment ahead of time for renting.
I plan on going September 30th only, my hotel is a 40 min drive to the festival.

4 people on September 21

Headed to Oktoberfest in Munich on Monday, September 21 after one of our friends runs the Berlin marathon! We’re 2 women and 2 men from the United States. Wondering if anyone has any advice on getting a table/if Monday will be any easier to find seating. Also wondering timing wise if picking up rented Oktoberfest clothing wouldn’t be wise if the recommendation is to arrive early. Would appreciate any advice you could offer! Thank you!

Three-table (10 pp) reservation, but 12 pp on their way

Last month, we received our bracelets and vouchers for three table reservations on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at different time slots. Each table comprises 10 persons. However, we have 12 people. We thought we were free to walk around the tent without any bracelets, or even enter any tent we wanted.

Why are there bracelets? We paid for the table, the food and the Maß.

Friday evening: Boandlkramerei

Saturday midday: Pschorr-Bräurosl

Sunday morning: Paulaner

Does anybody have experience with this situation?

Have I messed up? Can't book a tent on the 19th

I signed up for the official booking platform for tent bookings, but the 3-4 tents I was holding out for never came through on email after I held out booking any others. Now I look at the reservation pages and it looks like I can't get any booking at any time for the Saturday 19th September 😭.

I'm organising it for a group of 9 of us and all other aspects are booked, but now I fear we won't actually get into any tents all day. I think there may be a resale day for some tickets, or I'll have to queue up very early to try and get into a tent (like 7am?) and miss out on other festivities. Does anyone know if I've missed my shot at actually getting the group into a tent for some lunch or dinner?

Thanks

How long after reservation do I receive invoice

I booked a reservation for 10/1 with Bräurosl yesterday and got the confirmation email stating that I will get an invoice soon. How long after the confirmation are invoices usually sent? Also being in the US i assume we just pay with a credit card correct?

Is cash still required?

It's been a while since I've been to Oktoberfest. Am I correct to assume cash is still the only payment method available at the tents?
