A house on 175th and s ridgeview was just struck by lighting

I heard the strike, checked the map, and ran to pulse point. Most of the FD is there. Be careful you guys, this is an insane lighting day.

If you have friends or family in this area, you should check the lighting maps or DM me for the closer details.

Please make sure illegal fireworks are NOT WHERE THEY CAN BE HIT.

Lots of increased ICE activity over the past few days in Olathe and KCC. Possibly related to break in World Cup games, freeing up more agents. Please inform your immigrant neighbors so that they can take precautions. In addition, if you have time, please get involved in your neighborhoods.

Bass player looking for a band or group to play with.

Hello. I'm not sure where to look for this. I haven't played in a band setting in about 14 years. I've been practicing lately and would love to get back into playing with other people. I was in a 3 piece rock band for a few years while also playing in a contemporary church worship group for 6 years. I'm not a church goer currently, but would consider joining a worship team if the fit was right. Even if you're just a drummer or a guitar player, I'd love to get together and jam. Thanks for reading!

Looking for handyperson to rehang or replace an exterior door

My folks' trusted handyman has retired, and since he was the the one everyone in the community used we're in need of a rec for a known/trusted handyperson.

Current task is that an exterior door has come clean out of the frame (door wasn't solid wood apparently but contractor grade and 20 years old) so we either need a new one or someone who can get us down the road a bit by rehanging it at different hinge points or adding some reinforcement brackets or idk what, all I know about home maintenance I learned by accident as I've been a renter.

It would be great not to buy a whole new door as the frame is 100% fine and they only come as a set.

Dog groomer

Looking for a good dog groomer. We used to use pups and suds but they don't require proof of vaccination and our dog got very sick after.

Also looking for somewhere for dental for dogs that won't charge an arm and a leg.

Heritage dog park?

Haven't been out in a long while after hearing that the pond was full of algae or something making the dogs sick, plus the mud was insane, plus pit bulls now allowed and causing fights and at least two dogs dead. Has anyone been out more recently? Any improvement?

I want a closer Andy’s

Closer to downtown Olathe or College and Lone Elm. Are they franchises? If they are, someone reading this should open one. Please.

Water Bill Waaaay High?

I guess I better review my prior water usage…it has tripled since March bill, and I don’t water the lawn often. Has anyone else noticed an alarming increase?

Why is Olathe full of pedophiles?

We keep looking at homes in Olathe that are actually affordable and when we check the crime rate they are all clustered in the same neighborhoods. What gives?

Recommendations for local movers.

We just need some strong people to haul our biggest furniture out from our old place to the truck and then out of the truck into to the new house. The distance between these places is a 10 min drive.

Any suggestions welcome!

Genesis Ridgeview A/C

Is anybody in here a member of Genesis Ridgeview? Last year I put my membership on hold because the AC went out and I reached out to them today to see if they still had that big temporary unit out front. The lady laughed and said no the air-conditioning is working just fine everything is fine. So I was getting ready to reactivate it, but then immediately after she said and we’re getting a brand new system in 30 days! Hmmmm why get a new unit if it’s working without that huge temp AC block outside? What’s REALLY going on?

I think I’m month to month so hopefully it won’t be hard to cancel if it’s STILL hot AF in there smh

Garden center / local gardener with maypops or other passion flowers?

So I moved away from Olathe something like fifteen years ago, but I'll be passing through in about a week to visit family, and while I'm travelling, I've been trying to identify places where I might be able to find passion flowers (especially maypops (passiflora incarnata), and potentially passion fruit (passiflora edulis) or other passiflora), either for purchase at a garden center / nursery or else from someone who's willing to sell me cuttings from their own garden.

Unfortunately, where I'm living now, they're entirely non-extant in nurseries or gardens outside my own, so I'm reduced to checking around wherever I travel, with little (no) success so far.

Any chance anyone here either knows of a nursery in the area which has some, or else is willing to sell a few cuttings from their own vines?

Auto Body Work Recommendations

I have a few rust spots on a vehicle that I would like to have repaired and painted. Contacted Don's Autobody in Olathe and they said they only do panel replacements. Anywhere around Olathe or surrounding area I could look into?

Drowning in apartment rental websites. Looking for local recommendations.

My job is taking me to Olathe in about a week from Oklahoma city. My wife and I have been frantically calling places and trying to set up tours and walk-throughs.

All these rental sites just have so many scams and "too good to be true" places. So much so, that I am overwhelmed and feel lost in looking for housing for my small family.

Where is a good place to start looking and/or calling?

I need a 2-3 bedroom. 1 bath (or more). Budget is $1600.

My credit got ruined when I lost my job late 2025 and had to use credit to pay bills. But my new career is stable and I'm slowly creeping my credit score back up.
