I know it’s because my insurance sucks, but it really sucks having to shell out $300 a month for pods. I just switched from the dash pods to the 5 so that I can try to have a little more freedom in my life. Is there a way to get a coupon code for pods to help bring down the cost or am I just stuck debating going back to MDI in order to afford to live?
I stumbled across an unused Omnipod 5 PDM in my daughter's supplies recently. She's been using a Tandem pump for a few years and won't be going back to Omnipod.
Before I toss it, is it useful to anyone?

Hi all, I am after some advice.
My brother has just moved over to the omnipod 5 platform here in Australia. He has an intellectual disability and lives in a care home.
After first being set up, we had an issue where the pod ran dry, staff didn't notice, he ended up in DKA and spent a week in hospital.
We worked out the staff weren't all trained, and that has been resolved. He has been put back on the pod, but last night I was doing some calcs looking at the data from his CGM and thought he might run low. I messaged the carers, and they told me he had 13 units left, and that should be fine until morning. I didn't like that answer, and so I had them change it out.
His diabetic education has set up glooko, and I can see the bolus doses he is getting and I can see his BSL, but I can't see how many units are left in the pod.
I've used Claude to build a view that feeds into Home Assistant and estimates how much is left in the pod, but it is still a guess because I don't know what the basal amount is exactly.
Is there a way I can see how many units remain in the pod, or how many basal units have been dispensed? I know there are alarms and such on the controller, but he stays in his room, carers are often elsewhere in the house, and there is no guarentee, they nor him will react to it.
To maintain connection his phone and controller have to stay with him, not the carers.
For my own piece of mind, I would like to be able to check in and make sure staff are doing their job, and intervene BEFORE he runs dry, or needs to go back to hospital.
Okay… I have tried texting the Omnipod rep, a friend that also is on the same system, but he hasn’t replied yet.
It’s Saturday night… earlier I not only put a brand new pod on, but I upgraded my phone! I should have realized that both devices would need to be replaced after but I was busy and I’m a dumbass.
I’m not looking for “medical advice”. But I’m asking for anecdotal advice. I have to completely set up my Omnipod again and I can’t remember what my basal is supposed to be.
My carb to unit ratio is 15:1
Can anyone just throw some info out to help me through the weekend?
