Backrest & straps.

Backrest & straps.

Allowed myself to make a new post since i guess many people are looking for a solution. So i got the backrest today for 200.- bucks.

I then went to transa (a hiking stuff store in switzerland) and came to this idea:
It‘s the start. It‘s not tested, it‘s nod toddler safe till now.

What i‘m further gonna do is attach some back-pack-straps-enlarger attach to the yellow straps. So it will be more comfortable for the toddler.

Also gonna put some swimming noodles around the metal things on the side.

Possibly My Best Work Yet

A guy passed me and said “now THAT’s what Im TALKING about!!”

It felt exactly as awesome as I’d imagined when I was standing in the bike shop two months ago :’)

Improvements to the Omnium Coffee Bike!!

I’ve been slowly building out my coffee cart on my Omnium Minimax!! It’s coming along nicely, and Im so impressed with how well the bike handles with all this weight. Ive been pulling a trailer plus probably 70lbs on the front rack, and the minimax takes it like a champ!!

I always enjoy the bike-specific feedback I get on here, so wanted to give y’all an update :) if you wanna watch the build process, check it out on youtube! Thanks!!

My brand new Omnium Mni-Max V3

... or more exactly just the background, as the damned carrier officially "lost the parcel in their warehouse and won't be looking for it any longer".

Both Omnium and the local retailer have been super reactive and took the appropriate actions, but the wait is far from over on my end 😭😭

Help me plan my build

Hi everyone,

I ordered a Mini Max frameset a few weeks ago, and it was shipped today.

I could really use some help planning the bike, as I've never built one before. It would be great if someone could take the time to help.

The bike will primarily be used as a touring bike for long trips, with light luggage and often with a 10kg dog. I'll also be using it for everyday rides of 30-100km with the dog in fairly hilly terrain. For this, I'm planning the following drivetrain:

- Shimano GRX 600 crankset 40t (or smaller?)

- Shimano XT M8000 cassette 11-46

- Shimano XT M8000 rear derailleur

Are these parts compatible? Are there any sensible, cheaper, or more robust alternatives? I've been considering combining a Deore 11-51 cassette with a Deore M5120 rear derailleur.

Also:

- Which shifters are recommended? (Flatbar)

- Do you have any recommendations for hydraulic brakes? Are two pistons sufficient, or should I go for four at the front? Are 160mm brake rotors adequate?

Thanks for your help!

Seat belt for Backrest

Hey guys

We‘re at the stage where our toddler does not want to be in the hamax seat anymore.
We still need and want to use the omnium, so we got a backrest.

Anyone have an idea for a seatbelt? Chatty told me about the one from larry and harry, but i‘m not too sure about that.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

THIS is a SUV imo / Rohloff with Thumbshifters

Hello Reddit, hello world, and maybe most importantly: hello cycling Fam!

Kinda new here, bit nervous but I'll just go for it:

I'm sharing this to do my part in spreading the word of (Gates) belt drive. It's valid!

Also this build has a solution to a niche problem, people work on for years already. I'm talking about shifting the Rohloff with a thumb-shifter interesting to many I assume...

Here is "The Tomnium / Tom the dank (no) engine", my lil sport utility vehicle and daily drive.

kk I'll stop now...

____________________________

Most important stuff:

Frame: Omnium Mini Max V3IR (Ti), size L

Drivetrain: (used) Rohloff Speedhub with Gates Belt Drive

Shifter: GEBLA Rohbox with "diy" thumb shifters made from dropper post levers. Downshift left. Okay and upshift? I can't mount two levers on one side which both work for shifting. (ergonomically, because I obviously also have top-seated dropper-lever on the left doing it's intended job. It works, but updates are necessary. Didn't say I have the best solution to this niche problem ;p The levers need a bigger transmission so the cables get stressed less and this system is a bit sensitive to cold, which means you have to loosen up the thumb-nut-thingy so the now shorter cables don't cause the system to block itself mid drive. Happend 2 times during the trip I'm about to mention.

Crankset: Hope Evo /w BOOST Spider because front/back beltline should be max. +/- 0.1 mm and after too much datasheet scrambling and math this seemed to be literally the only hope left.

Also drilled a hole in the seattube for that internal routed dropper setup utilizing the internal front-deraileur path. No way aroumd the bb internally sadly. This is awesome for offroad, sharing and stopping/starting with heavy loads.

Complete weight atm: just shy of 18 KG / ~39 lbs

AMA about more.

Finished this build last winter and have been taking myself on some awesome picnic-dates to the local mountains. The amount of freedom this bike has given me since then is bonkers. Just beeing able to pick up random materials and furniture I find on my daily routes, and of course the grocery hauling... Love it! Tom and I also just got back from my vacation, where I Bikepacked to Milano via the Alps, taking Simplon there and Spügl pass back. Rode everything and had the time of my Life.

But time on a bike is very rarely a bad one ey?

Rack bolt replacements

Somehow i lost the bolts that were on the front of my rack. I bought this used and i guess didnt check how tight they were. Literally no idea how this happened. I know that Omnium sells replacement ones for 6 euro, but i am in the states and would rather not pay the 60 euro shipping.

Has anyone in the US had to replace these and know of a good size to find in the hardware store? It didnt come with the rear bolts, so i am boltless
