I discovered OpenCAD Studio recently and think it’s a really exciting project!

I’m curious about the long-term plans. Is there any intention to add BIM authoring, or will the focus remain on CAD and IFC support?

One idea could be to keep OpenCAD focused on CAD and use an external plugin based on IfcOpenShell for BIM functionality, rather than building a whole BIM engine from scratch. Bonsai could be a useful reference for this.

Would the developers be open to such an approach? I think combining OpenCAD with the existing open-source IFC ecosystem could be a very interesting direction.

Rudimentary PDF attachment functionality has been recently introduced in Open CAD Studio. This video shows how to attach PDF to a DWG document in Open CAD Studio.

This Open CAD Tutorial is meant for complete 2D CAD drafting beginners. It will guide them through the basics of CAD drafting and show them how to draft a kitchen sink drawing.

Open CAD Studio web application is used in the tutorial, which means that anyone can follow without installing anything or setting up account. The knowledge gained in the tutorial is easily transferable to AutoCAD.
