I must admit that it’s a bit inappropriate to send a referral message when my cover hasn’t even been shipped yet. 😭

Orion Sleep system - $450 off with referral code REFERRAL-75D

Hi all looks like Orion Sleep (like Eight Sleep but cheaper and doesn't require app subscription) is doing a $450 off discount which I think is about 20% off. If you use my code I get new free bed sheets :)

Also my gf got a referral code too, use REFERRAL-6CE if that one doesn't work.

orion review 30-60 days in

long overdue review for my orion. tl;dr: 10/10, buy it today.

we got it a couple months ago and i’ve pitched at least 20 people on it. context: i love sleeping but am historically terrible at it. i will buy every sleep supplement and tech gadget on the market before i ever attempt the obvious solution of going to bed earlier.

but when i actually manage to sleep before 1am, my oura sleep score is significantly higher than pre-orion. best of all, i haven’t woken up sweating once, compared to 3 to 4 times a week prior.

customer support

absolutely insane. they are incredibly responsive pre and post sale. people here worry support will tank as orion grows, but they’ve built their brand on not sucking. they’ll hire to maintain

price

worth every penny and felt inexpensive compared to 8sleep. i almost bought the 8sleep until they tried to hose me for a monthly subscription just to use the hardware. absolute clown behavior.

setup

i was explicitly banned from helping by my husband. took him an hour, seemed straightforward, didn't hear any yelling.

the temp settings

the sleep test flagged me as a max-level hot sleeper, so i tried the coldest settings the first night and froze to death. i used to keep the house in the low 60s, but now i start the bed warm and let the app drop it into the low 70s overnight. very interested to see what my electricity bill looks like this summer since i dont have to make my room ice cold.

meanwhile, my "normal temp" husband sets his side to the low 60s. reaching over to his side feels like falling into a glacial lake.

hopes and dreams

i want true integration with the oura ring so they can sync up, track my sleep cycles, and trigger my alarm at the optimal time; like at the end of a sleep cycle.

also, real auto-temp adjustment based on body heat. people think 8sleep does this, but it doesn't. i don't know how you'd accurately read biometric data through sheets etc, but a girl can dream.

A couple weeks with the Orion

Figured I’d give an update on my experience. I had a sleepme for about 5years loved it until it had some problems and was time for a new one and decided to switch.

Been about two weeks so far and I like it. It was set to about 64 at night and was a little too cold for me.

No complaints with this at all. Does what I got it for and it’s comfortable.

I feel like I’ve been sleeping better with it than without.

Feedback for the developers:

I was never interested in the sleep tracking so when they made that optional I was in. I did notice that the last two nights it said I didn’t sleep in bed but I did. It seems to give me a higher numbers that my Garmin watch I’ve been wearing for about 3 years.

Orion may say 90, Garmin 80. I feel like the Garmin is a little more accurate to how I feel in the morning waking up.

Maybe the Orion needs more sleep data to be accurate?

Curious how cold yours gets

Last night it was hot in my house (1st 80+ degree day in Chicago and I refuse to turn the air on for 2 days when it'll be 60 degrees soon). I was hot. I had the Orion turned down to 50, it said it was holding at 50, but I was having to move spaces in bed to find cold spots. I've always wondered if my bed gets as cold as it should because I'll still wake up hot when it is set in the 60s so I'm curious, when you have your Orion set to below 65, does it actually feel cold or not really because of the padding around the tubes? I don't want to reach out to support if what I am experiencing is normal.

Getting a firmware update error

Hi! My Orion just arrived today, and I’m psyched to get better sleep! Got everything set up and got to the app home screen after adding water and am now getting a server error 500. Possibly a cloud error, but I restarted the app and unplugged the control tower and re-plugged it in and still seeing the error. Anyone have similar issues?

Sudden Cooling Issues

Out of nowhere, I am having severely diminished cooling ability. In a room with an average temp of 70F, it will take over 4 hours to reach 68F with the setpoint being 55F and will not reach mid 60s. Nothing about the unit, usage, or room has changed.

Cooling issues are on both sides and heating works great. Has anyone else experienced this issue or know a fix? I've tried to power cycle the unit multiple times, put the unit in fill mode (no water was needed), and ensured there were no kinks in the line.

This tower has only been in use for about a month as it was a replacement for a 3 month old tower that began leaking water through the bottom of the unit. I reached out to support and had gotten an initial generic response (may take up to 2 hours to fully cool, keep in open space, etc). After reiterating my issue I was told it'd have to be escalated to the engineering team, but no update since. At this point, I'd really appreciate just being able to cool my bed and am open to anything to try or any insight.

Seriously impressive

I’ve been seriously impressed with how cold (and hot) Orion gets. The range is incredible. I find it really good for sore hips as a side sleeper.
