An Outer Banks prequel is officially in the works at Netflix.

An Outer Banks prequel is officially in the works at Netflix.

Deadline just released this in an article posted an hour ago.

"Outer Banks creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke have set out to explore the origins of Kildare’s deep social divide in a prequel series set 20 years before the events in the popular YA series. The prequel, often referred to as Kildare, is based on a concept the trio had been noodling with for a couple of years."

OUTER BANKS SEASON 5: MY PREDICTIONS

Since it's about to come out, these are all my predictions for season 5. I’m playing a game with myself to see how much I ended up getting right. Some of these are very obviously gonna happen I just put them there so I can get points if none of my other ones end up being right lol. This is gonna be so embarrassing for me if I don’t get anything right...😭 Ok let’s begin!

The Main Plot:

  • The main plot (or one of) revolves around finding the crown / artifact that supposedly has the power to bring people back from the dead.
  • The Pogues spend most or all of the season searching for it because they refuse to accept that JJ is actually gone..
  • The crown is treated as potentially legitimate for a significant portion of the season.
  • They eventually find the crown.
  • The crown does NOT actually resurrect JJ because this isn’t a fantasy show lmao.
  • The crown's inability to resurrect JJ becomes a lesson about accepting loss.
  • The writers use the crown as a metaphor for grief / letting go / accepting that some things can't be changed etc.
  • The entire resurrection storyline ultimately turns out to have been pointless from a practical standpoint.
  • None of anything written above happens.

Other tiny predictions:

  • The crown has some convoluted historical explanation for why people thought it could resurrect the dead.
  • Someone dramatically says something along the lines of "we can't bring back the dead."
  • Everyone stares meaningfully at each other with emotional music playing in the bg.
  • The Pogues spend a significant portion of the season wanting revenge for JJ.
  • JJ's death remains the primary motivation for revenge for the group.
  • They all explicitly says at some point that they want to make groff pay.
  • The group gets closer and closer to confronting/killing groff and they eventually have a clear opportunity to get revenge but then someone/something stops them.
  • Someone says some variation of "this isn't what JJ would've wanted" and the group ultimately decides not to take revenge so groff survives.
  • The writers frame choosing forgiveness/letting go as the morally correct decision and JJ's memory is used to justify the decision.
  • None of anything written above happens.

Bonus:

  • Someone gives a speech about JJ's legacy.
  • JJ's name is invoked approximately 47 times.
  • Someone cries while talking about him.
  • There is a flashback scene of JJ during the revenge confrontation.
  • They actually do end up killing groff but realise that JJ is still dead and there’s nothing they can do to bring him and getting revenge isnt gonna make their grief go away.

John B & Sarah:

  • Sarah's pregnancy also becomes a significant part of the final season and causes additional conflict.
  • John B and Sarah have a fight while discussing their future/family.
  • The show ultimately gives them a happy ending and they remain together and they eventually have their child.
  • The epilogue shows them living a relatively normal domestic life.
  • They live either in the Outer Banks/somewhere suburban and in a nice family home
  • They do some aggressively wholesome family activity in the finale. Possible activities include:
    • family game night
    • movie night
    • cooking together
    • playing with their child
    • hanging out in their backyard
  • John B and Sarah's ending is used to demonstrate how far they've come from Season 1.
  • Their ending is extremely sentimental.

Specific prediction:

  • John B has some corny reflection about how he used to think treasure was the most important thing, but now he has his family.

Pope:

  • The writers finally remember that Pope is academically gifted so gets an actual career related to his intelligence/interests.
  • He becomes a professor/teacher/researcher/scientist/academic/something else nerdy.
  • His career involves education/history/research in some way is what i mean.
  • We actually SEE him doing his job in the epilogue.
  • He teaches a class or examines/researches a historical discovery.
  • His ending acknowledges the academic future he sacrificed/put aside for the Pogues (hopefully).
  • He’s one of the only characters who ends up really successful.

Bonus:

  • He discovers something historically significant.
  • We get a scene of him holding/examining an artifact.
  • Someone calls him "Professor Heyward."
  • He gets a little smile because HE FINALLY MADE IT MY SHAYLAAA.

Cleo:

  • Cleo lives…independently
  • She works with cars/mechanics or owns a mechanic shop/some other kind of business.
  • Her ending doesn't revolve entirely around Pope.
  • She kind of has a life separate from the pogues.
  • Cleo and Pope remain together.

Bonus:

  • We get a scene of Pope visiting her workplace.
  • We get another scene showing Cleo being competent at her job rather than merely being told what she does.

Kiara:

  • Kiara ends up travelling.
  • She becomes involved in environmental/conservation work.
  • She works with animals/turtles/the environment.
  • Her ending references her original environmental interests from Season 1.
  • She stays independent rather than settling down romantically.
  • Her future is explicitly connected to what JJ would've wanted for her and someone at some point says that “JJ would've wanted her to keep living/exploring/travelling.”
  • JJ's influence is somehow incorporated into her future.

Bonus:

  • We get a scene of Kie somewhere tropical doing her research/ working with turtles.

Rafe:

  • Rafe does NOT die unfortunately.
  • He slowly repairs his relationship with Sarah throughout the season for some reason.
  • Rafe is portrayed as having changed/grown.
  • Rafe ends up somewhere…vaguely peaceful.
  • We aren't given a particularly clear idea of what he actually does with his life and I also just don’t care to know tbh.
  • His ending is significantly less developed than the other main characters.

Bonus:

  • He gets an "I'm trying to be a better person" scene.
  • Sarah forgives him for everything he’s done for some reason.
  • The fandom thinks his ending is "beautiful character development."

The Finale:

  • We get a time skip epilogue where we’re told group is not as close as they used to be and everyone has moved on to their own lives and the writers frame this as a natural part of growing up.
  • Despite this though, they still consider each other family and periodically reunite.
  • The Outer Banks remains their shared home/base where they return to for occasional reunions.
  • We get a scene of everyone together again hanging out and it’s extremely sentimental.
  • Someone comments on how much things have changed.
  • The ending emphasises that their friendship survived despite them growing apart.
  • We get scenes of where everyone ended up in the time skip.
  • Everyone has a relatively happy ending and a distinct career/lifestyle.
  • There’s a nostalgic callback to Season 1.
  • The ending involves the beach/ocean in some way.
  • The characters explicitly refers to the Outer Banks as "home."
  • There is a sentimental voiceover and John B narrates the ending.
  • The narration reflects on everything they've been through.
  • The final message is basically "the real treasure was the people we met along the way."
  • An emotional/acoustic song plays over the montage.
  • The camera dramatically pulls away from the group.
  • FADE TO BLACK. Boom. End.

BONUS:

One VERY specific possibility that I bet my life on is going to happen and if it doesn’t strike me down:

  • John B tells his child about their adventures and the child doesn't believe him.
  • John B laughs.
  • Sarah’s also present.
  • The story is framed as something almost unbelievable despite being true.
  • John B ends with some variation of "That's our story."
  • The final shot transitions from the present-day family back to the ocean/Outer Banks.

OR:

  • John B directly narrates the ENTIRE finale.
  • His final narration describes the Outer Banks as their home.
  • The last line is some variation of "This is where our story began."

Lines That Will Be Said:

I’ll actually have my notes out to check these as they happen:

  • "JJ would've wanted..."
  • "This isn't what JJ would've wanted."
  • "We can't change the past."
  • "We have to let him go."
  • "He's always going to be with us."
  • "We're still Pogues."
  • "No matter where we go, we'll always come back here."
  • "The Outer Banks is our home."
  • "We spent our whole lives looking for treasure..."
  • "...but we already had everything we needed."
  • "This is our story."
  • "We're family."

If I end up getting none of these right, I WILL take this post down.

Chase’s beard. Love it or hate it?

How are you guys feeling about his beard?

Usually I love beards and almost always think they make someone look better but not this time! I can’t quite figure out why but I am not loving it!

INSANE S5 THEORY

Alright everyone, I GOT TO KNOW everyone’s thoughts on this….

Before season 4 ever stopped filming, there was a guy going around on Twitter telling people that JJ was going to die and proceeded to explain exactly how it happened. I remember it specifically. I never screenshotted because everyone wrote him off and called him crazy. Turned out to be true.

Fast forward, now I’m almost inclined to wonder about people online who SWEAR they know spoilers. I wish I had screenshots for this, but on TikTok, someone was claiming they know how S5 ends…

They are claiming that every single one of the pogues except John B dies in the end, and that’s how the show ends. They wrote in their comments things like “you don’t have to believe me but I promise you” and “I have videos and proof I swear” and “come back to this post whenever season 5 comes out and you’ll be proven wrong.”

Again, I wish I had screenshots of this. I looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. I’m just curious, does anyone in here maybe know anything? What are your guys thoughts on this? I of course think it’s a berserk idea and probably not true. But because of what happened with that guy spoiling season 4, I’m scared… 😂 thoughts anyone?

i don’t think the ring was meant for kie!

Messed up on the last post so here I am reposting it! 😅 But am I the only one who does not believe the ring was meant for Kiara, like at all? I’ve seen so many takes of people talking about the scene where JJ takes the ring from a shop he breaks into and how they think he was going to give it to Kis as a gift or as a proposal. However JJ wears jewelry in the show such as rings a lot so it could have easily been for himself and I don’t think he is the type of character to propose so easily. Also, the writers probably would have made a bigger focus on it or brought it up again if that was the intention. Not to mention I don’t think the writers would want to repeat the whole marriage thing after already doing that with John B and Sarah, and it just doesn’t make sense for JJ and Kiara to also get married when they apparently never even went on a date before or anything like that (until that one scene where they realize this).

My final guesses! For season 5!

They are going to drift away from each other….
They are going to wish for ward or Big John for the baby…
They might use the wish because of a miscarriage…
Groff is going to die…
JJ is not coming back…
They will talk about how while looking for the gold they lost the only gold that matters(JJ)…
Sarah might loose the baby…

Season 5 blue crown theory

After the Season 5 trailer mentions the legend that the Blue Crown can supposedly “bring back the dead,” I really think there is a possible way they could bring JJ back without suddenly turning Outer Banks into a paranormal show.

Obviously, this might not be where the final season is going at all, but I think it should be.
My theory is that JJ never actually died.

Think about what happened in Morocco. JJ was stabbed, lost a huge amount of blood, became unresponsive and the Pogues believed he died. But none of them are doctors. JJ wasn’t taken to a hospital and medically pronounced dead. They were also in an incredibly dangerous situation in a foreign country and couldn’t exactly just get him proper medical help.

They genuinely believed there was nothing they could do, so they buried him and eventually had to leave.
What if JJ’s pulse and breathing were just incredibly weak because of the blood loss, and somebody found him shortly after the Pogues left? Maybe this person had medical training or access to help, realized he was still barely alive, got him out and rushed him to a hospital.
Season 5 apparently picks up not too long after Season 4, so JJ could still be recovering while the Pogues completely believe he’s dead.

This is where I think the Blue Crown legend comes in.
Kiara hears that the Crown can “bring back the dead” and becomes desperate to believe it could somehow bring JJ back. It would make even more sense considering JJ’s whole history with abandonment and how heartbreaking it is that the Pogues had to leave him buried alone in Morocco.
The Pogues could spend a large part of the season searching for the Crown, with Kiara believing there might actually be a way to get JJ back.
Eventually they find it.
And nothing happens.
No magic. No resurrection.
Instead, the Crown leads them to another clue that eventually takes them back to JJ’s burial site.
They dig up the grave.
JJ isn’t there.
At first, even the Pogues could wonder if the legend was somehow true. But eventually they discover what really happened.
Someone found JJ shortly after they left. He didn’t come back from the dead because he was never actually dead.
It would still be extremely far-fetched, but let’s be honest, Outer Banks has always been far-fetched. I’d much rather have an unlikely medical survival explanation than suddenly establish that magical resurrection exists.
I also wouldn’t reveal JJ until late in the season. Let the Pogues genuinely grieve him. Let Kiara struggle with losing him and with the guilt of leaving him behind. Let them go after Groff believing JJ is gone.
Then around Episode 8 or 9, Kiara finally follows the last clue.
She sees someone.
Blond hair.
He turns around.
JJ.
Then the final episodes can explain how he survived and actually give us some time with all six Pogues together again before the show ends.
The Crown technically still “brings back the dead,” just not literally. It leads them back to someone the entire world, including the Pogues, believed was dead.
Maybe I’m completely wrong and the Crown line is just about Kiara’s grief, but if they ARE planning to bring JJ back, this is how I’d want them to do it. It keeps the show grounded in the ridiculous-but-not-supernatural world Outer Banks has always existed in while still undoing a death that a huge part of the fanbase never wanted in the first place.

Why I (and many others) Don’t care to and won’t watch this final season

As the title suggests. Many of us, myself included will not be watching this final season. Frankly I don’t care to and wouldn’t be payed enough to watch it. The way the writers have totally ruined this show with its ridiculous premise, bad scripts, huge contrivances, no realism whatsoever, laziness, plot holes, and just being flat out bad, has forced many of us original fans to completely tune out. What used to be an interesting story about relatable, teenagers chasing mysteries, and treasures, has turned into stupid characters making stupid decisions as they try to…bring back dead friends through urban legends? What the fuck. Stupid. Sad how they wasted such a great casts talent for this garbage. Because of this I won’t be wasting my time watching this BS no more. You all enjoy your season full of melodrama, unnatural coincidences and contrivances for the plot sakes, and just a bad show.

S4 E8 is so peak

>!Particularly around Groff’s character. It’s so cool how everything that’s happened comes together nicely to demonstrate how he stayed 2 steps ahead of everyone.!<

>!You get to see it in action too. It’s insanely impressive and also terrifying how fast he comes up with these schemes.!<

Question about location changes

I'm finding Season 2 generally hard to follow not sure if that is just me. But I thought when the gang reunited (S2E4 Homecoming) they stayed in Charleston, SC but now I'm seeing they are at JJ's hot tub which is back in OBX/Kildaire. So does that mean they are back home or are they in Charleston? And Rafe and Barry are hunting John B down so did they go to Charleston or are they in OBX?

This would’ve been a good ending.

I’m still shocked they did a season 4 it feels so disconnected from seasons 1-3. Say what you want about ward but I miss.

Do you thing Luke Maybank is in s5

So do you guys think Luke Maybank is gonna make an appearance in this season? Because his actor (Gary week) didn't confirm or said anything, and he didn't show up on set once, not even in event (the premier, Pogues farewell)

He didn't show up in the teaser, trailer, the first ep

And his story line with jj and groff needs a closure! , there's no way they'll just write him off, he needs to show up!

He was the father before groff storyline, so his reaction to>! jj's death!< is very important, I'm still looking for the others reaction,

But Luke is really important. It'll be a shame if he wasn't in this season

Why don’t people blame rudy instead of his girlfriend?

I see a lot of hate online that the reason jj was killed off was because of his girlfriend. Why do you guys not blame rudy? He’s a grown man who chose a relationship over a job yet his girlfriend gets all the heat for it never mad any sense to me even if she was the one that felt insecure. Also why is it that people are wierded out i doubt yall would like to see yall significant other making out with someone for a pay check.

OBX boys at SiriusXM in NYC! 8.18.26

I was invited for an interview at SiriusXM today! Took some photos, sat front row and was able to ask the guys a question :)

“We are thrilled to invite you and a guest to an exclusiveFront Row interview with the cast of Outer Banks featuring Drew Starkey, Chase Stokes, and Jonathan Daviss LIVE on Tuesday, August 18th at our SiriusXM NYC Studios presented by SiriusXM** **Hits 1 and hosted by the Morning Mash Up!”

Observations:

-Drew is really tall but also thin in person I was shocked, he also wears oversized clothing so that probably adds to it as well. He gives off a chill nonchalant vibe with dry humor. He appears to have some anxiety as well as he kept making a fist and playing with his hands during the interview.

JD: He seems chill as well and how with be flow, he expressed sharing a nerdy nature with Popes character. I swear I caught him staring at me a few times especially when Drew was talking once I caught him lmao. I kinda look similar to his exes so I get it haha.

Chase: grounded dad vibes if that makes sense? He has a calm demeanor about him, but serious. He often led the conversation while JD and Drew made small jokes on the side. He seems the most like his character from what j could see.

After the interview we also got to do a meet and greet and take pictures with them too! Overall a 10/10 experience!
