Visual horror: Baphomet
I want my players to feel the horror of Out of the Abyss, here's an edit of the image of Baphomet I'm using when he's introduced.

So I need to delay my game by a session before the big reveal in sloobludop. The party is already there and are meeting with both Ploopploopeen and Bloppblippodd (split party woohoo). for this session I want to give them things to do around the city to still earn XP and maybe get some combat in but not yet make it to the official sacrifice. Open to whatever crazy ideas you might have. already want them to visit Sloopidoop (who is a gulper rancher as well as a SOB member). Let me know any fun encounters you ran in Sloobludop that wasn't from the books!
Anyone know what the deal with that door is? It doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere. Area 10 does say that the northwest entrance has a locked gate which isn't on the map, so maybe that's what it is, but it's definitely not blocking off area 10.
Hey guys, this is my first adventure as a new dm, and I'm a little unsure how I should go about notes/prep. I know it's different for everyone, just bare with me.
So I'm using Obsidian, a really good note taking app. I am currently going through CHP. 2, and writing stuff down so I can easily look it up. But it just keeps fucking going. I thought my neat little "travel" section map would just be max 10 individual notes. It's getting a little difficult to maneuver. Would it be better to divide the notes into chapters going forward? Or are there any other cool tips and tricks I can gain some inspiration from?
Just got to run an optional Balor fight I added to the campaign. Used it as an excuse to go all out without the political fighting of the demon lord to distract each other.
Also a great time to gove my players magic items to fill out their kits in the late game for a moral boost the campaign seriously needs.
For context this is my 2nd time running the adventure and my players loved this addition to flex their skills!
Obligatory bonus party shot at the end, not all survived.
No I'm completely new to DM'ing, and it's fun! But I'm a little unsure about lvls in OUTA. We have barely started. They aren't out of the jail yet. So I know they are supposed to get to lvl 3 when they are out.
We have talked about milestones vs. Exp, and I am a bigger fan of milestones, but I don't know how to pace it.
Would it be easier to go with EXP in the module? Or do anyone have some cool tips (I haven't read the entire module yet, so if I have missed something important I apologize)
Any tips and tricks are welcome
So I am on my fourth run of Out of the Abyss and my first time as a paid DM. I have always enjoyed this part of the adventure and see it as the true opening of the full adventure. I am finally at a place where i have full access to lights, sounds, music, miniatures, and a massive table/tv set up. So, how can i really blow this out of the park for them? Any recommendations for particular audio or speeches you gave in the past?
The current state is using Morvold Press sloobludop map on Arkenforge along with the Loot Studios version of Demogorgon printed at 75mm size (almost a foot tall).
