Need help choosing a X870 motherboard

Need help on a x870 motherboard choice

Basically the title,
I am upgrading my PC, I am moving to AM5.
I have everything else, just not the motherboard.

I was gonna get the Asus Tuf X870E
But then I got into the nitty gritty over ports and whether I need a discreet trusted platform module (dTPM)or not
Then I looked at MSI’s MAG & Tomahawk.
Then the ROG crosshair, Gigabyte aorus elite.

Then I got choice paralysis.

Please help

Building ( technically ) my first pc, no idea what I'm doing.

This will technically be my 2nd build but the first I was about 10 years old and the extent of my help was passing my dad things and wearing a grounding strap. I still use the pc to this day but after trying to play the dead space remake I realised it was probably time for a completely new build as I didn't realise quite how far technology had come.

Anyway, I've been doing a ton of research and have some ideas for components but I'm beyond clueless and basically just need someone to explain if something isn't compatible or is just terrible haha.

So far I was looking at

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d

GPU: Nvidia rtx 5080 or maybe the 5090 if I can bring myself to it

RAM: 32 / 64 GB of CL30 6000Mhz prolly Corsair vengeance

Mobo: kinda clueless as I have no idea how big stuff is I have an Asus TUF gaming x570 plus and if this is still compatible I can just stick with it

SSD: 2TB Samsung 990 pro

PSU: Corsair rm850x

Cooling: Noctua nh d15 g2

A couple of questions that stuck out were

is it worth getting 2 SSDs?

Do I need a special power cable for a high power PSU? (UK) hoping that's not a ridiculous question

Is it worth having extra case fans?

And is there any benefit to different brands of thermal pastes?

Any help is appreciated feel free to tell me I'm a moron if that's needed there hasn't been any thought as to how these components would work together as I wouldn't know how to just what looks good as a standalone thanks :)

Could you please choose 1 and drop one line why this is your choice
Also as much as I appreciate any feedback and the fact that there are better options out there, I’m limited by budget and time so thank you
in advance 🙏

For context of how much of an upgrade any of them would be, I’m currently on 6 years old all-in-one HP pc :)

Galax GPUs

Is the Galax 5060 Ti 16 GB good, and will I not face any performance issues with it?

Or should I consider other brands like Asus, MSI, or PNY?

Upgrade advice

Have the current setup:

2700x cpu

32g ram

5700xt gpu

750w psu

Gaming pro carbon b450

1440p monitor

Mostly game rts/rpg games, occasional fps, cyberpunk, souls. Everything runs fine, but my guess is it won't anymore in the near future.

Got 2 upgrade paths:

1: upgrade cpu and gpu now and try to wait out the price bubble (probably a 5800x3d cpu a 7900xt or something for about 1200).

2: wait a year or 2 and buy something then with the new generation gpu/cpu. Not knowing what the market will do. (Budget of about 3-3.5k then)

I know it's upgrade now when you need it, but I don't really need it yet but also don't want to be caught in the mega price hikes.

Where should I go next for 1440 60fps?

Intel i5-10400F 2.9GHz, GeForce 3060 12GB, 16GB DDR4, 500GB NVMe SSD, 1TB SSD, Intel B460 micro-ATX mobo

I was considering the CPU but then I'm told I may have to upgrade my motherboard and I know less than nothing about that. I wantnto get this done before prices are any higher.

Any advice is appreciated!

Should I upragde CPU or GPU first?

Hi, I'm looking to slightly upgrade my current computer. I don't want to buy everything at once, just half, so my question is Should I replace the CPU or GPU first? At the moment I'm running with Ryzen 5 5600 and RX 6750 XT. To upragde i was thinking about Ryzen 7 7800X3D and RX 9070. The price for replacing the platform and purchasing the card will be similar. So should I go for RX 6750 XT with Ryzen 7 7800X3D or RX 9070 with Ryzen 5 5600

Where should I spend my extra budget

I am buiding my first pc soon and have £100-£150 extra to spend. I am currently planing on a 5500 for the cpu and a rx 9060 xt 16 gig for the gpu. I plan to mainly play minecraft, helldivers 2 and space marine 2. I will also occasionally use it for 3D design. Where should I spend the extra money?

Underperforming FPS in games compared to identical setups – what could be wrong?

I’ve been running some benchmarks and noticed my PC is underperforming in games like Counter-Strike and Valorant compared to other people with the exact same hardware.

Here are my UserBenchmark results:

Gigabyte GA-B550 GAMING X V2 Performance Results - UserBenchmark

The Numbers:

  • Resolution & Settings: 1440p (2K) on "Low" settings.
  • Expected FPS: 300–500 FPS (what my friend gets with the exact same PC).
  • My Actual FPS: 200–300 FPS (struggling to reach the 300 mark).

My Specs:

  • GPU: AMD RX 9070-XT
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600 C18 2x16GB
  • SSD1: Kingston SNV2S1000G 1TB
  • SSD2: Kingston A400 240GB
  • MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte GA-B550 GAMING X V2

1300€ pc build

I'm looking to build a new gaming PC with a budget of around 1300€. I live in Croatia, so I'll be buying parts from local stores or European online shops that ship here.My main goal is smooth 1440p gaming and having a solid upgrade path for the future (so I'd prefer an AM5 platform if possible).

What parts would you recommend for this budget?

Back to PC's after years of console and i bought a pre build from Amazon.

So basically I got a pre built system with AMD ryzen 7 9700x, Radeon 9060XT, 16gb ddr5 in a nice Lian Li a3 dan case with a 500w psu.

I'm already thinking about getting a 32gb ram kit, Powercolor Reaper 9070XT, ryzen 7 9800X3D and an 850w psu.

My question is should I get a new motherboard, fans and case and build a second machine and sell the first, or upgrade.

What would you do..?
