Hard times.

Hi everyone,

My partner (23M) and I (30F) are currently homeless and living in a tent downtown. Things have been really hard lately and we’re struggling to get by day to day.

We’ve been having a difficult time getting enough food, staying warm, and finding basic necessities. Any help at all would mean a lot to us right now. We could really use:

  • Food or snacks
  • Warm clothes, blankets, socks, hoodies, jackets, etc.
  • Bottles and cans to recycle
  • Hygiene supplies
  • Any other donations or resources

We’re trying our best to stay positive and keep going, but it’s been overwhelming living outside.

If anyone has anything they can spare or knows of local resources, shelters, meal programs, or places giving out clothing/supplies, please comment or message me.

Thank you for reading and for any kindness or help.

Nice Old Poor Guy Needs a Home

I need a place to live, but my income, while steady, is much lower than the rent in most of the possibilities in the Portland Metro area.

I'm a retired writer/artist/crafter.  I'm quiet, somewhat introverted, with a prominent sense of humor.  I'm a gender-nonconforming male who is tolerant and accepting of others.  Kindness and compassion should be the goal of everyone.  I'm experienced with home repairs, and organic gardening.  I am open to a certain amount of non-strenuous work in exchange for rent or partial rent.

I would appreciate any leads you have.  (I think I've tried pretty much all the agencies and low-income resources.)  Trying to think outside of the box, as you can see.

Swim Lessons for Beginner & Anxious Adult Swimmers?

Hello, I’m trying to gauge interest in the central Portland area for adult swim lessons.

I was laid off 3 months ago from my tech-adjacent job and the market is *rough* with no end in sight, so I’m thinking I might fall back on my years of swim instruction experience (from ~2012-2016 in FL) to help make ends meet for a bit.

I (32M) really loved helping people build initial confidence & safety skills with the water — particularly beginners & others with fears to overcome, as well as the SpEd students that would occasionally come in during summer camps. I’m patient, calm, understanding, and feel gratified when I help someone learn a valuable new skill.

Does this sound like something that would interest you / someone you know? Due to high-ish pool rental costs we’d be looking at something around $100/hr session, with per-person discounts for sessions with 2+ people. I know this is expensive (I couldn’t justify it right now for myself lol) but this is an important skill, and I’m confident I can help almost anyone make significant progress within even 1 session. I don’t imagine I’d spend more than 5 sessions with an individual before they’d be improved enough to no longer need my help, or at least move up to higher skills like lap swimming. I’d also be very open to doing a sliding scale for BIPOC & queer folks.

I’d greatly appreciate any input, even if it’s a straight ‘nah’. Thanks in advance :)

Florence + the machine front row tickets tonight

It’s quite last minute but my MIL gave me and my wife 2 Florence + the machine tickets at the Moda centre for 7:30pm tonight since she had an emergency surgery earlier today, and neither of us are really all that fussed to go. They are front row seats and she bought them for $800 but she is willing to sell them for $600 :) thought I’d give it a shot!

Seeking social media support for my small business

Looking for help with social media for my small business?

Looking for someone to help with social media for my fitness business — Ricky Skiba Coaching.

I'm a personal trainer based in SW Portland specializing in kettlebell training and functional movement. My approach is less "get big in the mirror" and more "move well, feel strong, do the things you actually want to do." Not your typical gym bro content.

I sell one-on-one training (Zoom or in person) and pre-recorded workout programs and group courses through Trainerize. The content exists. I need help turning it into consistent, polished posts that actually go up on schedule.

What I'm looking for:

\- Someone to help edit short-form video and graphics

\- Consistent posting across platforms (Instagram at minimum)

\- Someone who gets fitness content and doesn't make it look generic

This could be a paid gig, trade for training, or some combo — open to talking. DM me if you're interested or know someone who'd be a good fit.

Looking For June Weekend Cat Feeder!

Hello! I am moving into the NW Portland area, and need someone to just check in on my cat Webster on Saturday/Sundays in June while I work the Ren Faire. He is a sweet boy but he can be shy, so he might not want pets. But he will want his crunchies, his wet food, and some water every day. Willing to pay $20 per check-in! (negotiable for the right person)

In dire need of a working decent bicycle

I dont care if its a mountain bike or a BOX bike or whichever type of bicycle you might have to donate to the cause of alleviating some of the financial burden of public transit while I continue to try and find work and employment since im running critically low on funds at this time and am having troubles paying rent, utilities, etc.. I would be super appreciative to get the chance to find one in the area for free! Please let me know~!
