Textbuilder2e - Convert Pathbuilder JSON exports to readable text and Reddit markdown (update: interactive mode, better reddit support)

Update to my Pathbuilder JSON converter! Previous post here.

New features:

  • Foundry VTT support - Auto-detects and converts Foundry PF2e actor exports
  • Paizo BBCode formats - Output formatted for Paizo forum posts
  • Subclass display - Shows Bloodline, Way, Racket, Muse, etc. next to class (e.g., "Sorcerer: Phoenix Bloodline")
  • Interactive mode - Just run the script with no arguments, it finds JSON files and prompts you
  • Copy to clipboard - --copy pipes output straight to your clipboard (macOS)
  • Auto-load build choices - If you've run the build format before, it remembers your skill increase selections

Output formats:

Flag Format
-t build Level-by-level progression (default)
-t static Complete character sheet
-t condensed Compact feats list
-p reddit Reddit markdown (compact)
-p reddit-build Reddit markdown (full build)
-p reddit-static Reddit markdown (character sheet)
-p paizo Paizo BBCode (compact)
-p paizo-build Paizo BBCode (full build)
-p paizo-static Paizo BBCode (character sheet)
-p bluesky Ultra-compact for Bluesky

Quick usage:

# Interactive mode - finds JSON files, prompts for options
python textbuilder2e.py

# Reddit format, copy to clipboard
python textbuilder2e.py character.json -p reddit-static --copy

# Read from clipboard, output to stdout
python textbuilder2e.py -c --stdout

Full Build Friday - Gragas the Rabblerouser [Dwarf Alchemist]

GRAGAS, THE RABBLE ROUSER

SOURCE League of Legends

BUILD GOALS

o    A man whose sized is only matched by his boisterous jolliness, Gragas travels the Freljord in an effort to craft a brew that will finally get him truly drunk

o    He is a melee vanguard, an offensive tank that uses his belly, fists, and the cask he carries as weapons

o    His Happy Hour passive heals him after he’s used an ability

o    He can do a Barrel Roll to lob his cask to a location that, after a short delay, detonates to damage and slow enemies in the area

o    Through his Drunken Rage, he briefly gains damage reduction and empowers his next attack with greater damage and range

o    With Belly Slam, he dashes forward to briefly knock-up, stun, and damage the foes that he impacts with

o    Finishing out his abilities is Explosive Cask. This lobs a cask to a location that explodes on impact to deal high damage to enemies and knock them all back from the epicenter

Summary of Goals: Gragas is a big bruiser of a character, but the most common trend among his abilities is explosive barrels as seen by his Barrel Roll and the self-explanatory Explosive Cask. Outside of these barrel bombs, he’s a melee combatant who can pump himself up with that Drunken Rage to enhance his durability and damage. The last big thing is keeping the stun of his Belly Slam in mind even if it is rather short-lived.

BUILD CONCLUSION

Gragas the Rabble Rouser is portrayed as a strong-blooded dwarf alchemist who studies a mutagenist research field and has a background as a barkeep simply to earn him some alcohol lore. His limited background means that we don’t have to dwell on it too much and can get right into feats such as Toughness, the dwarf’s Mountain Stoutness, and Monk Resiliency to make him a tough tank. Given his tendency towards unarmed combat, he’ll use the monk’s powerful fist before he can get into a Rushing Goat Stance. For his Happy Hour, he can restore himself with harmonize self or the temporary Hit Points from the mutagenist field benefit. For his Barrel Roll, he’ll use the bombs he can make as an alchemist to deliver slowing effects, likely deploying goo grenades or frost vials to do so. His Drunken Rage is going to be a little less ragey and more just buffing effects. The mutagenist has advanced vials to provide some damage reduction as does Mutagenist Physique. For the empowered Strike he delivers following his guzzling, inner upheaval is probably the best fit. The original intent was to have Boulder Roll serve as his Belly Slam, but through exploration of the monk archetype, he can find Momentous Charge, which comes with the Stride, Strike, and knock back that this ability is looking for. To demonstrate his Explosive Cask, he can use pressure bomb to knock enemies around though the higher-leveled boulder seed could work out well for this.

Drawn to the drink in a desperate desire to get dizzy on the draught, this durable dipsomaniac dives into drunken dust-ups with dazing drubbing and detonating draughts.

I don't get to use dwarf or alchemist all that much, so this was a fun build where I got to use both! He's a bit more focused on unarmed combat than the typical alchemist, but I think it makes for a fun build overall. You can see the details of this drunk's design over on the free Patreon post or on the YT video. Have a fantastic Friday and I'll see you all in two weeks - I'm going on vacation for next week!

Rogue question: Are ruffians just... worse thieves?

I am making a rogue dwarf for a 2e Zeitgeist AP game. I was into the ruffian racket, but them I saw the limitation "you can sneak attack with any martial weapon, but only the ones that do d6 max damage". What? Rogues are already proeficient with martial weapons in the Remastered. A short sword or rapier already gives d6 damage and any rogue can use it. So what is the point of the ruffian be able to sneak attack with more weapons?

Comparison:
- Thief let me apply dex to damage

- Ruffian let me use more weapons to sneak attack but is pointless cause the d6 damage dice restriction to martial weapons.
- Ruffian let me use medium armor that doesn't give me ac, only make my ac be less depend of dex, so it let me put more points in str for damage so

In the end:
- Ruffians do the same damage them thieves
- Ruffians have the same AC them thieves
- Ruffians have a worse reflex save them thieves, that is rogue best save

Am I missing something?

EDIT: I get all your points and agree with most of them. Ruffian is still worth it and have a good niche. BUT restrict his weapon dice d8 simple and d6 martial is lame for no great reason. And the avenger racket proves it. It has medium armor, can use any weapon no bs and can have str as key attribute

Working on a “fungal”class, basically a cross between a Paladin and Druid that focuses on Mushrooms & Lichen..etc

Creating an NPC for my Hyperborea campaign. It’s an armored/shield user, but rather than the focus of life and preserving purity, this class (not evil) focuses on the Detritivore denizens, such as slugs, snails, beetles, Mushrooms, Lichen, Moss..etc.
A light armored melee/caster much like a druid, but with a bit of punch like a Paladin.
I’m legit on the ground level with this thing. Any suggestions/build ideas for abilities and traits?

Dex-based Marshal Champion

Hey all,

Having trouble finding much info or discussion on Dex-based Champions with Marshal dedication. First campaign and GM is being kind about redoing feats as i joined at the tail end of level 7.

Wanted to get you alls thoughts bc from everything I can (or rather can't) find this seems fairly nontraditional. Wanted to see if there are any obvious rakes I'm stepping on or value I'm passing up.

Thanks in advance!

Full Build Friday - Khora [Anadi Ranger]

KHORA

SOURCE Warframe

BUILD GOALS

o    A Warframe that is themed around being a beastmaster, spiders, and bondage

o    Khora’s passive provides her with Venari, a ferocious, cat-like creature that fights alongside her and increases her sprint speed

o    With the Whipclaw, Khora lashes out with a whip that hits hard enough to create an explosion

o    She can hold enemies in place with Ensnare, trapping them and others who move to close. Hitting Ensnared enemies with the Whipclaw deals more damage and extends the duration

o    Vernari can be further commanded to attack where she will deal more damage to Ensnared foes, protect to knock down and disarm an enemy, or heal to restore others

o    Her ultimate is Strangledome, which creates a dome of living chain to ensnare and strangle enemies to death, encouraging their comrades to hasten their end

o    Through her unique augments, Khora can increase the damage from hitting multiple foes with Whipclaw, have Venari die in her place, and loot more enemies held in the Strangledome

Summary of Goals: Khora shares a close bond with her companion, Venari, which itself is a skilled and capable pet. She accompanies this Catwoman-esque theming with a whip that she uses and is often enhanced by interacting with her other abilities. She excels at locking foes with her Ensnare and Strangledome, which are flavored as strangling chains of living metal.

BUILD CONCLUSION

Khora is an adaptive anadi vindicator ranger whose background as an animal whisperer reflects her close, catty companion, Venari. When accompanied by Venari, who is represented through a cat animal companion, Khora moves a bit faster, which we can demonstrate through Fleet and other mobility-based skill and general feats. Her Whipclaw ability inspires her primary weapon, which also comes from the Calistria deity she worships. For the burst this creates, noise blast is likely your best bet and is something that Khora can make enemies more vulnerable to through her vindicator archetype. She likely relies on further spells to simulate her Ensnare with the spreading and action limiting effects of infectious ennui being a prime example though vampiric maiden is also great against a singular victim. We can also look at representing the enhanced damage from Whipclaw against ensnared enemies through the vindicator’s judgement focus, which afflicts her hunted prey with a weakness. Regarding Venari once more, this khavat is an adaptable combatant that can focus on attacking foes, debilitating them, or healing allies. The first is quite easy and well-suited for the cat, which gets extra damage against off-guard foes, and the second can either be covered by boosting Venari’s Athletics a bit or using her support function. Sadly, she doesn’t have a means of healing others, though Khora can get a little Medicine herself and pick up the Battle Medicine skill feat or even just use the heal spell. We have a few options for her Strangledome as none really completely fit. Webslinger to get free castings of web is a great way to create some general lockdown, confusing cry can cause enemies to start shooting at each other, and blessed boundary creates the field that damages and can limit the movement of foes. She takes a slight investment in Thievery inspired by her Strangledome squeezing more loot out of its victims, but isn’t able to invest in it as heavily as I’d like.

A bit of a baddie, this bot binds brigands in bountiful brands before beseeching her bestial buddy to bound into the brouhaha and bring such blameful bad guys to a brutal bloodbath.

People requested more Warframe builds, and I aimed to answer that request! Khora seemed like an interesting one to me and I had fun with it. You can see the details for the design over on the free Patreon post or the YT video. Have a fantastic Friday!

I need help creating a healer Druid

I will start a Kingmaker campaign tomorrow and I wanted help to making a druid focused on healer.
My initial idea was to make a Leshy witch focused on healing, but I started thinking that a druid would be able to heal more or be more fun.
I still want to be a Leshy but I'm open to other ancestries with good healing capabilities like the Conrasu.

I appreciate the help and attention.
