So for a couple years or so i've been going on a sort of a journey. Every major update that adds a new tier of weapons i switch from the weapon i'm using to learn another one. I've gonne through most of the melee classes weapons and i'm starting going through tech weapons. My last one was wand and that one was pretty good. Even if I was playing bad and had low dmg i knew that shifta deband was doing work on my teammates in the 4 man quests.

Now for the last month and a half more or less i'm trying to learn to play jet boots and their damage feels so low. I understand that the point of this weapon is to span jetsweep jolt as fast as possible so I picked the techarts that speed up the gauge build up and focus on dodging with WA to reset the cooldown.

But even with this I feels like there is little damage on this weapon. On Dalion D.2 i need to play almost perfectly with a blight round on the boss to maybe come close to 50k dps. For comparison, before i used my aug transfers to spradio boots i was using twaalv 2 wand and it felt like I dind't need to sweat so much to get 50k dps on Solus D.2 last month.

On Luther its worse, before the arm break and weakspots appear its dificult to get even 25k dps.

I searched for guides and solo gameplay content for jet boots on youtube buts its quite dificult to find anything recent. So my question is am I just bad at the weapon or is jet boots really just a secondery weapon for Soaring Blades like launcher is for ranger?

As the title says, how does one find their current potency and how much it will increase when putting new augments? I know it’s multiplicative but other than that I’m in the dark on the subject.

Not really the best at math and tried to find if there was an equation for it but to no avail.

Like, how have I never heard of this game until now and why did I wait so long to play it?!

I've heard of the franchise, but I didn't know this game existed. I started my first character tonight and I swear I just started but I looked at my phone and 10 hours were gone.

The world is stunning so far, the combat is fun, the vibes are immaculate. I chose techter, cause in most games I play healer. And I noticed that there was a second weapon type I could use. The talis is by far some of the most fun I've had in combat in an mmo, and I'm only just getting started.

Just wanted to yap about my excitement, and say how jealous I am of yall who have known about this game for a while cause man, I'm loving this. 7.5k hours in ff14 and I rarely enjoy combat this much outside of a few select fights.

You've probably seen a couple tweets about this, but that's far from all the quirks this oversight has to offer!

EDIT: I fucked up the process. After testing again WA pulls ahead by about 200-300 DPS. Gonna leave this up anyway because the only thing worse than making a mistake is trying to act like you didn't.

I suddenly remembered that Slug Shot got some base buffs outside of the ExtraDrive nuke, and decided to see if it was now better than ending a PA with three swings of the weapon action

Test was done with an upgraded Verschmelz Gunblade. This eliminated any variance from crit rate. Some variance still came from Downs, roughly 500 DPS.

Test target was Eldi Scythe in the ARKS Training Center.

Test method was simple. Stay: Flowing Sirius into Slug Shot, then Stay: Flowing Sirius into WA 123. Did both until the DPS settled into a small range after repeated Downs.

The result:

Ending in Slug Shot peaked at 26.2k damage per second.

Ending in WA 123 peaked at 25.5k damage per second.

As you can see, the difference is minor. Still, for those who wanted an excuse to press less buttons while playing Slayer, or those who want to min-max their DPS with the class, it's probably worth knowing.

...Honestly once the idea got in my head it wouldn't leave me alone until I tested it, but damn do I wish I could get my N-Meseta back.
