Recommendations/friends/life

Just now I found a very reasonably priced flight to palau in early September, and bought the tickets at the spur of the moment. My friend's asking their boss for a leave so now the plan is still going solo.

Are there any recommendations on accommodations, food(preferably local, down to earth places), transportation, things to do and spots to go? I love history so I think I will go to Peleliu and around Babeldaob, but I'm unsure where else I should be going. I've searched up some tour agencies there for diving/snorkeling/kayaking tours but it seems like it's rather difficult as I'm going solo.

And how is life in Palau like? Are there any specific manners/customs, or even taboos that I should know beforehand before meeting/talking to a stranger?

I'll also be glad to connect (and hopefully meet and hang) with Palauans in this subreddit or anyone planning to go! Leave me a message!

Scuba diving in Palau

Hey everyone,
Hope you are all going well.
I’m heading to Palau in about a month and I’m a relatively new diver, so I’d love some advice from the more experienced divers here.
I’m looking to do a few dives while I’m there and was wondering what dive sites/tours you’d recommend for someone newer to diving. I definitely want to see the famous Palau sites, but I also don’t want to book dives that are going to be too advanced or slow down/annoy a group of more experienced divers 😂
I also have a mate with me who’s in the same situation in terms of only having a few dives under our belt.
Are there any particular dive shops or operators that are good with newer divers? And are there certain sites that you’d recommend prioritising?
Also, I’ll be there around September — how’s the weather and diving conditions usually around that time of year? Is it generally windy/rainy, and does the weather affect diving much?
Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for Cool/Scary/ Funny urban legends, myths, or stories to share with friends

Alii belau, I'm super interested in urban legends, myths, and stories. I'm trying to impress some friends with any cool or interesting stories from Palau, but I didn't grow up super in touch with my culture and would love to learn as well as spread some stories from my homeland with friends who are curious about Palau.
