Flea Market Find with Springboard Module

This was a fun pick up. No flap but it has the matching stylus. He had a Palm III there which (oddly) he wanted more for. (That had an ICE Visor stylus as well.)

I only picked up the one as it was fun. He did not know if either one worked. I need to remember to start carrying AAA, AA, and 9V cells when flea marketing. 🤣

[Swatch] It’s clearly time

This is my Swatch Big Bold Jellyfish pictured with a turn-of-the-millennium Handspring Visor, a Palm PDA.

The classic Swatch watches were released in my birth year, so since the Jellyfish was a one of the original designs, I count this as a birth year watch. Did you know the first GShock came out the same year?

I’ve been doing what I can to lessen the time I spend on my phone, so I’ve been exploring some different options for calendars and check lists and the like. I have several Palms, but this is the only Handspring I have. After Palm was bought out by 3Com, the original founders left and started Handspring. Palm was a company but also an OS. Sony, Handspring and other companies made devices that run Palm OS, and they are all compatible with each other.

Have a happy July 4 if you’re in the U.S.

Palm Treo 680 Battery Replacement

To anyone that has still any Palm PDA, you know that finding batteries for those devices, is basically close to impossible.

Through my search, I found a listing in Ebay for the replacement batteries for my Palm Treo 680.

After contacting the seller through ebay and asking how the shipping would be handled (I'm based in Europe), ie. with tracking number, etc and got those confirmations from the seller, I ordered 4 replacement batteries for my Palm 680.

The shipping took less then originally expected (originally estimate to be 30 days) and the batteries arrived in half that estimated time (seller sent the packaged and sent the batteries on the same day that I processed the order), so in all it took 2 weeks to get the 4 ordered batteries.

As you can see on the pictures, they are brand new -> the seller indicated the 3D prints the casing and then install the cells in those 3D printer casing and are a perfect fit for my Palm 680.

Bricked Palm VIIx solutions

I have three Palms: 2 Palm VIIx and 1 Palm LifeDrive. One of the VIIx es is bricked with NO life other than 1 little quiet pop every time I reset, no display. It happened after I hit all 4 application buttons at the same time (it flashed all 4 screens then turned off and never turned on again). Power is not the issue. How to solve

DO NOT POST THESE COMMENTS: Palm LifeDrive solutions, it's the AAA batteries

PalmDB Contact???

Anyone know how to contact PalmDB? I registered and submitted a contact form but it fails.

I have a working 1 hole E3 Demo and full version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 1.0 from 1999 for Palm OS.

I wanted to ask about the legality of the full version going up before sharing with them.

Here are my videos of both.

MathPad for web now has Google drive sync

MathPad is a tool for solving and storing mathematical equations in standard algebraic syntax. Rick Huebner (author of MathLib) made it for PalmOS back around 1997 - 2000. I've recreated it on the web with some enhancements (including tables and graphs).

I just put the finishing touches on Google Drive sync so your MathPad records can be accessed across devices/browsers. I had to use a custom domain name for this, so although its still hosted on Github pages, the url is now https://mathpad.hoodoop.com/

Just click "Sign in" on the upper right to start syncing.

Sync memo (or calendar) to modern app

Hi, I have bought a Palm Tx recently and want to use it as daily drive with minimal distraction on note taking.

I host my own Nextcloud and sharing note with my wife. is there any app or script that can automatically export the memo and move it to Nextcloud (or copy the file to a folder) everytime I hotsync?

I have to do export and copy manually and want to make it automatically....

Thanks in advance!

I built an Android calendar because I couldn't find one that helped me manage today

Hi everyone,

I don't have a problem with modern calendar apps.

In fact, many of them are incredibly powerful and well designed.

But I kept running into one problem.

When I looked at my calendar, I couldn't really see "today."

For me, a calendar isn't a database of future events.

It's a tool for understanding where I am right now, how much time I have before the next thing, and how I want to spend the rest of the day.

Back when I used Palm and WorkPad devices, that feeling came naturally.

What I loved wasn't the number of features.

It was how quickly I could see what mattered, enter information, and get back to today.

After Palm disappeared, I spent years looking for something with the same philosophy on Android.

I tried a lot of apps, from major products to small indie projects.

Some were excellent.

None of them really stuck.

Eventually I stopped looking and started building.

The result is an Android calendar called Time Defense.

I'm not trying to replace Google Calendar.

I'm not trying to build the next giant productivity platform.

What I'm trying to do is bring some of the things Palm and WorkPad did so well into a modern Android app:

• Quickly see what matters today

• Quickly capture information

• Quickly return to where you are in the day

I've been using it as my daily calendar, and it's finally reached the point where I'm comfortable sharing it.

For this first beta, I'm looking for around 12 testers.

I'm intentionally keeping the group small because I'd like to personally read and respond to every piece of feedback.

If you're interested in seeing how someone is trying to continue those ideas on modern Android, leave a comment and I'll send you the test link.

Thanks for reading.

CLIE NX60+TCPMP+FLAC success

This is a follow on thread to my initial thread about using my old Clie NX60 as a music player for uncompressed lossless FLAC files:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Palm/comments/1s2mlux/sony_clie_as_a_music_player_questions_file_types/
I installed TCPMP 0.72RC1 with the MCA (modern clie audio plugin):

and then the FLAC plugin

I'll address file size and bluetooth in a later thread, but did have success in FLAC playback, WITH the exception of the last few seconds of a song being cutoff. I'll take that as a win for now.

Just wondering if people have any solution to the cutoff issue, such as being able to 'tune' TCPMP cache settings to load the succeeding file quicker? Not a big deal as I use this for casual listening, that might change if I am able to use a bluetooth headset away from home.

Also TCPMP really doesn't have a 'skin' like audio players since it is designed for video. Is there a way to skin the UI display or at least show the playlist?

FWIW, I tried to install Core player but it throws error codes so I can't even register it or check if it natively plays FLAC files.

Before Me Is A Reddit Full Of Palm Users...

Are any of you playing Zork on your Palm device? I have played many text adventures on desktop machines, Zork, Station Fall, Planet Fall to name a few. I'm trying to play Zork 1 on my Palm (OS v.4.1) and even mindful of my ADD I'm having trouble staying "in the game". I'm hoping for suggestions and encouragement from the group.
