Viper Strike of Mamba sometimes not doing any damage?

Hi guys! My current build is generally based on the current Viper Strike of Mamba build as seen on pob ninja (except the passive nodes, that's all on me - still new to this game and still learning from it, please excuse the horror of it if any).

So far I'm able to 1-hit anything except bosses (usually takes up to 3 to 4 hit to kill them), but my main concern is that Mamba sometimes doesn't do any damage at all, like no matter how I hit, nothing is happening, but normally when I hit the mobs they insta die on the spot.

Here's my pob (completely a newb yet) if needed for reference:

Cold Res stacking Vaal Cold Snap Chieftain - An exciting new way to play this build

Hey guys,

I'm really excited to share this build. I spent a lot of effort to make this work and the outcome is amazing.

I'll start with the incentive. I really like the RF playstyle and was looking for a new concept for a walking simulator type build. Then, I saw some clips using the new The unblinking eye helmet together with the perfect form and cold res stacking to make vaal cold snap really strong. Most of these builds take 4 points in the chaos bloodline and they are played as either elementalist (strong defense + offense) or gladiator (ridiculous block).

However, I like building my own niche, non-meta builds, and thought it would be good to try chieftain as you can stack fire and cold resistances to get more cold resistances. Boy, I didn't think it would be that good.

The unblinking eye provides crazy amount of damage. However, it has a pretty large downside. You can't have any physical mitigation. This is why most players played this with many layers of damage avoidance, including lucky block and spell dodge. However, while this provides a lot of defense against hits, these builds are usually very weak against dots. As a delve enjoyer, I decided not to go this route. The first change was going vestigial Alpha Howl with The unblinking eye modifier as an implicit. We are loosing some damage for sure but we don't have this downside at all. This opened a completely new way to play this build. Instead of going fully on damage avoidance, I invested into damage reduction (90% all res, spell suppression, endurance charges and a lot of armour). How armour you might ask? I actually take iron reflexes to convert all the evasion we are getting as a cold res stacker to armour, reaching absurd levels of armour for free. Since we are stacking both fire and cold resistances, we can use the fire mastery to get high life regeneration (more than 4K a second). I didn't die even once from level 85 till 96.

The funny thing is that even with the lose in damage from the helmet swap, we actually don't loose much of the damage overall. Since we don't block, we can use two nebulis with +2 cold spells, which is a huge increase in damage over other alternatives. Also, due to our high life regen, this build can easily utilize RF for more spell damage. We also have a lot of mana reservation (alpha howl helps with that) so we can use the two curses in a blasphemy setup, removing the need to use bane or a brand for that. This helps the feeling of a semi walking simulator. You need to click Pact of Ktash and Vaal cold snap every ~15 seconds but other than that you just walk and everything blows.

That is the final difference but maybe the most important one. When I started this build I thought about taking the resistance nodes from chieftain and then 4 nodes from the chaos bloodline. However, I realized something really cool. Most of the damage increases in this build are actually buffing general spell damage and not cold damage. This also affects the hinekora explosions from chieftain. This is a game changer for Vaal Cold Snap. This was so good that I decided to go all in damage, taking Priest of Kopec (not sure if anyone else is taking it) and just allow the explosions to take care of the AoE. So I'm not taking the bitter frost as most builds and I use bonechill instead.

I hope you'll enjoy the build. Ask me anything you wish to know.

What is wrong with my armourstack merc?

I have invested way more into this than i should have but ive always wanted to try an armourstack minion build (my previous attempts with armourstack AGoS have been underwhelming).

I understand that i would gain alot from many many small upgrades (cold+fire resist on all gear pieces, merc with better support gems etcetc) but i spent about a mirror trying to get this working and it just isnt. For normal mapping its fine, but its nowhere near where i think it should be. Also the mirror investment does not mean its worth a mirror, ive made plenty mistakes along the way (trying to selfcraft the merc chestpiece unsuccesfully for example) which has made my money go poof.

But anyway, here it is. What major mistakes have i made which destroy my build and how do i fix it?

Did some kineticist testing to see if return makes a big difference

Merc with GMP + haste and no return

Merc with Fork + return

For reference, the kineticist with greater fork + return + greater kb starts at 40 divs (goes higher with better supports). The GMP merc I bought earlier for only 5 divs. I also tried replica twyzel + multishot anoint to get as close to GMP as i could with the return merc. GMP is just stupid damage along with wall of force.

Fun fact: 1 week into the league I vendored a merc with GMP + return since it had frostblink and I thought it bricked it ¯\(ツ)/¯

Keeping Merc alive in uber fights

Hi guys,

Just downed my first uber in SSFHC today (Uber uber elder) - very happy about that. But the main pain point was keeping my merc alive

(Let alone my AG... zero chance)

The damage is great, but I had to use 5 portals - once every time the merc died

There were 2 portals where the merc instantly died within a few seconds upon re-entering...

I understand I have focused mainly on offensive gear for the merc, and I could use some more life. But are there any tricks or a specific mod I am missing to keep mercs tanky enough to survive ubers?

I am also relocating my merc whenever he's in a shaper beam or something big - but it definitely adds a lot of mental pressure having to worry about both of us

Viper strike of Mamba Faq

Given the constant source of mamba doesn't work posts recently I've taken it upon my self to create this post. If you feel there is something incorrect or missing here feel free to let me know and ill add it to this post.

Here's the checklist.

  1. Do you hit?

Are you accuracy capped or do you have hits can't be evaded crafted mod or something similar.

  1. Do you poison?

Do you have 100% chance to poison unconditionally? This means you either have the 100% chance to poison with attacks or 100% crit chance and adders touch notable on the tree.

  1. Perfect agony. Do you crit?

Do you have 100% chance to crit? if you don't crit you don't poison. Common conditional crit chance sources that are easy to overlook.

Ambush skill gem grants +25% flat crit when you exert an attack. Make sure you use it or check your crit chance without ambush by unchecking it.

Assassin more crit chance against full life/low life targets. see if you crit cap either way.

other sources of crit chance against full life enemies in dagger notablr or crit mastery.

  1. Are you poisoning too much?

Do you have other skills or minions that are applying poisons before you get your mamba off? Common sources are travel skills or automated generals cry for wither. Golems/spectres if applicable. Try socketing brutality support in these or controlled destruction if you are playing perfect agony.

  1. Can your poisons do damage?

with the new elemental keystone there is a possibility you clicked on one of those when a build guide used them to transform a keystone using a timeless jewel but you don't have the jewel yet. Meaning you have something like more lightning damage deal no nonlightning damage which makes you not able to deal poison damage which is chaos.

Also if you are using elemental dagger/claw make sure you're using the heist dagger base or using the assassin notable for all damage can poison (or some other similar tech if you're into it)

  1. Common bricks

Shrines that deal damage can poison before you hit. If you have a party member make sure they don't also poison.

Spark build that insta killed uber dread no phases...

I'm looking for a video that i saw recently(past 3 days), but i didn't save it and looks like it might've been deleted..

Someone instantly killed uber dread, no phases at all using spark. I'm guessing it could've been from the early Sacrificial Zeal gloves bug, but I didn't check at the time just thought 'wtf insane' lmfao...

Did anyone happen to see/save it? Or know what it was? I feel like with the amount of damage it must've had to do it, it had to have been a bug or those early gloves, as it literally just alt f4'd dreads client as he walked down the stairs lmfao...

EDIT: Found it haha ty chatters! It was indeed a Proplays clip.

Here are PoB Templates for all 36 Mercenary types. Includes stats and skill gems.

I spent a lot of time this league avoiding setting up a Merc in PoB because I'm lazy, but after struggling to figure out how to improve DPS on my Manyshot, wanting to test a Bastion Merc, and reading this post https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1vqv93j/very_basic_merc_gearing_guide_pob_for_merc_howto/ I decided to finally do it.

To go along with the Mercenary search tool on my site (https://pob.codes/tools/mercenaries/), I put these templates together. When you select a Merc on the search tool it will show these links too. I did use an LLM to generate them, but they're based on data mined data and PoB / PoB Codes code. I compared 8 or 9 of them to in game Merc stat sheets and they all matched perfectly. If you find an issue let me know.

These templates have all skill gems (that are selectable) set to enabled at gem level 26. You'll want to disable whichever skills your Merc doesn't have. Supports are not included because a lot of support gems don't exist or they don't have a perfect match to skills, and I didn't want to include a partial list. The notes section contains the same info as the configs section, but that way you can modify the configs section and have the original values to fall back to.

Enjoy.

[3.29] 10-link chaos spark pathfinder, 1.1m EHP, 450m DPS, ~1.5 mirrors, deep dive

https://pobb.in/YnjNV_x0qNv7

/Foreword/

Made a mistake in the video of double counting the damage reduction from Companionship. This has now been fixed in the updated POB (hence 1.1m EHP in POB vs 1.3m in video).

Feel free to play around with POB to simulate what you think is realistic. I've enabled blocked recently for both (for Daresso's Courage) and stage 4 frost shield (~1.2 seconds of standing still). Didn't enable Immortal Call since that's cheating.

/Build concept/

Thought new Tsoatha rings would be good with Spark since Spark is usually played with the Elder/Shaper gloves. PF (+ Lycia) to take advantage of high spark hitrate for wither and Oath of Spring. Also the build is Divine Flesh so Pathfinder has a strong life-based defensive shell withProgenesis + Petrified Blood.

/Gearing/

Replica Nebulis and Divine Flesh shield, the budget option is Kongming's with a source of blind somewhere (probably disorientating display). Dark Seer is also possible.

Helm and boots are just there for attributes. Need an ES base to have enough ES for eldritch battery - 10link spark costs a shit ton.

Gloves I'm using the vestigial Hands of the High Templar elder/shaper ones from Settler shop. Non-vestigial, non-elevated versions you can buy for like 20 divs.

Doppelganger Guise is probably BIS for chest.

/Skills/

I'm using Spark of Unpredictability over Nova. I go over this here https://youtu.be/SdtAkVYdllw?t=2012 . Lycia ascendancy has strong synergy with Unholy Trinity which frees up the curse slot.

Rest of the skills are auras and buffs (RF of Arcane Devotion, Vaal Smite). Because I have so much increased skill effect duration on tree Vaal Smite has permanent uptime in mapping (and also some bosses which don't have long immunity phases).

Animate Guardian gear is pretty stock standard. AG doesn't really die because of the minion life recovery from flask in all content except for Valdo's (eg 100% deli feared). Thing like Simulacrum wave 15 and Uber Uber Elder are pretty much a cakewalk for your AG.

Please feel free to ask any questions here or in the comments!

Fun atlas strats this league

Hey guys, I have been doing some breach hive fortress, harvest and essence farming, which I am kind of bored.

Been wanting to save money for a decent luminary build so I am looking for a fun strat to focus on.

What are some strats you use that feel fun and lucrative? I am playing casually, completing maps, clearing everything, so it doesn't have to be "go in map, do this, skip everything else".

Perma-Soul Eater Consecrated Path Totems - All ubers deathless

Hello everyone! I'm Matosis, an Argentinian PoE enjoyer. I wanted to showcase my Consecrated Path Totems Hierophant and some unique interactions I've been testing.

The tech:

Coiling Whispers + reduced curse duration tech has been well known for several years already. I've seen a lot of people using it with movement skills (frostblink mainly). They usually only take advantage of the 225% inc cast speed/atkspeed individually.

But what if we get BOTH?

In combination with Wilma's you can take advantage of both stats, providing up to 450% inc attack speed, with the limitation of having to play ballistas/totems.

Last league I tried it with a Voltaxic Rift Scourge Arrow Ballistas Champion using Lioneye's Paws' auto-RoA (1s cd) linked to lv1 temp chains + lv1 hextouch + 20/20 less duration. Damage and tankiness were pretty good for a bow build, I was able to get 40/40 challenges with it, took down Ubers pretty easily and the clear speed was great.

This league I wanted to try it out with melee totems from Dawnstrider boots. The tech alongside new Pearl to Tsoatha allows it to get the big numbers. The issue was finding a trigger as comfortable as Lioneye's Paws'. Doing some research I ran into Fire Burst, you can get it on any weapon through Essence of Hysteria, it works perfectly as it can be supported by the 3L curse tech and has a longer cd (1.5s). I chose Lancing Steel of Spraying as a trigger as it has auto-aim and can get insane life/ES gain on hit.

Has plenty of future upgrades (2 rage on hit gloves, 2 supports Pearl, lv100, mageblood, 75/75 block, a better aura setup, more spectres+AG, a better weapon, etc). I just wanted to showcase it while it's still in a budget-friendly state. I've probably spent less than 50d on it!

Perma Adrenaline Ailment Stacking Phys Convert Ice Shot Raider - Build Showcase

Hello Guys, today I bring to you my project to waste my currency on this league.

The motivation behind this build was:
- Warden is a horrible ascendancy with a couple decent-ish nodes
- Raider was cooler than Warden, so I wanted to play a build that has the Raider Portrait in rememberance of better times
- I noticed a cool interaction with Enmity's Embrace that sadly does not work on a Manyshot mercenary due to attribute allocation

So the Build I bring to you is:

Phys Convert Ailmentmaxxing perma-adrenaline Ice Shot/Tornado Shot Raid...Warden

So, what we are doing is we are building around 6 Unique Items:

-Stormblood SAPPHIRE Flask (NOT the Topaz version which is way more expensive, we will not need it)
-Heatshiver
- Enmity's Embrace
- Olroth's Charge (or to be precise, it's vestigial modifier)
- Yoke of Suffering
- Sublime Vision (Hatred)

So, to start off, the sapphire version of Stormblood allows all damage that crits to deal Cold ailments, namely Freeze, Chill and Brittle. Regular Cold ailments in general are quite strong defensively, but lack in offense - except for Brittle, which we gain off Sublime Vision for Hatred - but Heatshiver can capitalize on this by adding a portion of your Cold Damage extra Fire Damage. Due to Stormblood allowing ALL damage types to inflict the ailments, we do not have to worry about keeping a part of our damage as cold, and therefore can go all-in on converting all damage we deal to fire.

This is ideal for us due to Enmity's Embrace. In case you did not confront the Flame Link Luminary, Enmity's Embrace does a couple very powerful things. First, it can give us up to 200% Fire Penetration, but at the cost of reduced fire resistance. Also we take some Fire damage whenever we use a skill. This is usually a downside, but since it is registered as a hit, we can do some funny things, like gain damage reduction via Grukthul Pantheon or Aspect of Lunaris. ALSO THIS DAMAGE BREAKS WARD. This allows us to force trigger Cast on Ward Break, which is nice, but that is not all...

CUE: Olroth's Charge
Both Olroth's Charge and its vestigial offspring offer the modifier "Gain Adrenaline for 3 (2 for vestigial) Seconds when Ward breaks". This is a quite powerful steroid for attack builds (100% increased Attackdamage, 25% atk/movespeed, 10% PDR), however otherwise, Olroths Charge barely offers any good mods, and in fact kinda sabotages us with reduced ward recovery. By going instead for a vestigial pair of boots and another source for flat ward (in our case Sundance + rare Runic Gauntlets), we can both gain some useful mods, as well as solve the ward recovery issue.

Now, since we are a Warden that deals Fire damage and always inflicts Cold ailments, we can use both Oath of Summer and Oath of Winter to guarantee 2sec Freezes and swap shitty ignites for double Scorches.

So now we have 4 ailments, and for our fith, we resort to Yoke of Suffering, which allows all elemental damage to shock (another up to 50% damage multiplier). Also Yoke gives us up to 10 (12 if corrupted)% increased damage per ailment on enemies -> 50-60% inc damage just off our current ailments.

This is our core of items we are building around, but now we gotta manage them effectively.

For our body armour, we are using a Foulborn Skin of the Lords to make sure we get our fire resistance up to a decent level. The optimal keystone would be Avatar of Fire, but it turns out that Supreme Ego is also veeeeery good for our hatred scaling (since it is a more multiplier to our aura effect)

Since we do not have Avatar of Fire, we instead go for a Pyre Sapphire Ring to convert 48% of our cold to fire, leaving us 2% Cold damage after Cold to Fire support, which we happily ignore in favour for mana reservation efficency corrupt for Hatred on our Pyre.

To fill our Ascendancy points, I opted for Farrul Bloodline, which gives us a good chunk of attack speed and crit off Summon Spectral Tiger, as well as our Herald of Purity sentinels and our ice golem.

The passive tree then is filled with Forbidden Flame/Flesh for Endless Munitions (gathering wind also makes sense), a 2x Hatred Watcher's Eye, inc Fire Damage The Light of Meaning, and a Corrupted Blood immunity Jewel (cause Headhunter + Enmity's Embrace can result in you self-inflicting Corrupted Blood on yourself if you kill one of those rare monsters that have that mod)

Finally, Headhunter makes a lot of sense on mappers with damage conversion due to the amount of buffs that are beneficial for those builds. Also Wine of the Prophet has some buffs that can outright double the damage on the build.

Of course, Mageblood always works, but is outclassed by Headhunter as soon as you open some juicy content.

Finally, here is the POB: https://pobb.in/5inlk0O3Yst9

Any interesting/must try build in 3.29?

Got a mageblood and about ~100divs so thats 250divs budget at least. Is there any interesting/must try build this league? Lumi merc bot caught my attention but the price of a good merc seems to be out of my budget, and from my experience playing merc league im sure it aint easy finding a good one.

Might just gamble and quit the league if i dont find something interesting to try, i cant bring myself to explore league mechanic (just did the bare minimum for challenges, i dont think i can like this water heist)

Best way to build reap boss killer with original sin?

I have an Osin for the first time, and wanted to put together my dream build of chaos reap bosser. My question is whether it would be better to use herald stacking elementalist, or energy blade life stack inquisitor as a shell for the build. If another shell works better let me know too

Flicker Luminary with Flicker Merc?

Can anyone help me (fix my brain and decisions in life) see if it is possible to build a DOUBLE flicker build? Potentially me as a luminary flickering with my flicker buddy, providing me with frenzy as well (with incite) + the Savior unique sword for QUADRUPLE flicker?

Please let me know if this is a very (bad) good idea and if you guys have any suggestions!
