The millennium has ended. To some this is a time for a carousal. For others it is a time for weeping for the lost age. But to all it is the cessation of an era of humankind.
Most are is chiliastic, for life has not ever been of such technological advancement and halcyon. Others are more cautious, for there are still lands of tyranny and oppression that have not been able to taste the fruit of the new era. The dreaded Y2K computer bug proved to not be of much significance in the end and the world feels a bit older - for it is. Economists warn of the supposed 'Dot Com Bubble' --- investors are investing purely on startups using the internet rather than their quality, causing a rapid unsustainable economic boom that the US government is trying to control with higher interest.
Geopolitically the world is in a more peaceful state than usual, but that is not to say war is not raging. Ethiopia and Eritrea are at war. The Second Congo War continues to be Africa's version of a world war. A second Intifada is brewing in Israel occupied territories. Russia's Chechen territories continue to be unstable with Boris Yeltsin's troops entering into Grozhny. Angola and Sierra Leone continue their grueling civil wars. And Sri Lanka continues to rage on in the fight between the LTTE and the Sri Lankan government.
Yet despite all the war tensions are low. The calm after the fall of the USSR continues as China-US relations are at a high. Russia while distancing itself from NATO following the Kosovo War is still not antagonistic towards them. The USA continues to grow under Bill Clinton, and the World Trade Center towers continue to be a symbol of American economic growth.
Is the world going to continue on its path to growth? Or will it fail?

NRP Rules
1. Be respectful
You can mention things such as racism in the context of the NRP, but do not do it in detail; any real-world discrimination is not allowed, especially towards other players.
2. NRP Rules: Actions
5 actions maximum are allowed. Actions must be detailed to an extent, otherwise they may have a lesser effect; for instance: 'I land in Normandy' will not get much results, your push will be less sucessful. 'I make naval landings on Le Havre and Cherbourg, perform an encirclement, and use [warfare tactic] and a trench to break supply lines' will be much more successful. Actions can be as broad as you like within reason (upto mods).
3. NRP rules: Common Sense
Be sensible for the time period. You're not going to be making LLMs for at least 5 to 6 years even with heavy government funding.
4. NRP rules: Random Events
Random events can occur at times. Countries may discover new natural resources or have insurgencies. These are all RNG. Both NPC and Player countries can have random events.
5. NRP rules: Submissions
Top level comments on actions posts MUST be actions. Otherwise they will be removed. Complaints should be submitted to moderators. Posts can be whatever as long as they are somewhat related to the community. Every week Saturday is a 'free day' where shitposting is allowed.
6. NRP rules: Diplomacy
For player countries you must talk to the players directly. Moderators cannot be mediaries for this. For non-player countries, diplomacy will be done by the moderators themselves.
7. NRP rules: Rebel Players
Rebellions can only occur by random chance. Players may seize this opportunity to join as these rebel countries.
8. NRP rules: Secret Actions and Alternate Accounts
Secret actions can be submitted to mods to prevent other players from acting on them. Alternate accounts are BANNED and any alting will lead to a perma-ban from the subreddit and the NRP. The only excuse is if your main account is banned, in which case you MUST play as the same country as the banned account and make it clear that you are alting.

The NRP takes place in 2026, NATO and Russia are at war, and the islands of Hawaii and Kodiak have declared independence among these concerns of them being heavily targeted, the us government fighting multiple fronts does not do anything about it, as they need to focus on Russia and Russia's invasions in Europe, Alaska and the Northwest Territory.
Choose one island, and be careful, Japan is looking interested into these islands, and the USA is looking to gain influence and reclaim them peacefully again.

TRADE ACCORD AND TREATY OF FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE EMPIRE OF JAPAN AND THE PERSIAN EMPIRE
Negotiated and Agreed Upon, January 1863
Preamble
In recognition of the mutual benefits that flow from peaceful commerce and strategic cooperation between sovereign nations, the Empire of Japan and the Persian Empire do hereby enter into this Treaty of Friendship and Trade. This Treaty establishes a framework of exchange wherein the industrial strength of Japan meets the ancient wealth of Persia, and wherein both nations grant each other the strategic access necessary to project power and protect their interests across the seas. To the enrichment of both realms and the flourishing of their peoples, this Treaty is ordained.
Article I — Persian Exports to Japan
The Persian Empire shall deliver to the Empire of Japan the following goods, sourced from the finest producers and craftsmen of the Persian realm, in quantities and at intervals to be agreed upon by the authorized trade representatives of both nations:
White Marble — hewn from the ancient quarries of Persia, of a purity and luminosity unmatched by any stone found in the Pacific or Australian territories of Japan. This marble shall grace the Imperial buildings, monuments, and public spaces of the Empire, a testament in stone to the friendship between two great civilizations.
Turquoise — the sky-blue gemstone for which Persia is renowned across all nations, drawn from the mines of Nishapur and the eastern provinces. This stone shall adorn the jewelry of the Imperial Court, the decoration of sacred spaces, and the commerce of Japan's luxury markets. No other gem captures the meeting of earth and heaven as Persian turquoise does, and Japan shall have access to the finest specimens.
Saffron — the red gold of Persia, each thread hand-harvested from the crocus fields of Khorasan. The most valuable spice in all the world, commanding prices that exceed its weight in precious metals. Persian saffron shall enter the kitchens of Japan's elite, the tea ceremonies of its nobility, and the trade routes of its merchant class, yielding enormous margins at every point of sale.
Dried Fruits — a selection of Persia's finest orchard produce, including pistachios from the gardens of Rafsanjan, almonds of unmatched sweetness, dates from the southern oases, raisins from the sun-dried vineyards of the interior, and pomegranates preserved at the peak of ripeness. These fruits, unknown to the soils of Japan or the Southern Cross, shall introduce new flavors to the Japanese palate and new commodities to its markets.
Persian Carpets — the handwoven masterpieces for which Persia has been celebrated since antiquity, each carpet a work of art requiring months or years of skilled labor, its patterns telling stories of gardens, hunts, and celestial spheres. These carpets shall grace the floors of the Imperial Palace, the residences of the great Daimyo, and the finest establishments of Edo and Kyoto. To possess a Persian carpet is to possess a piece of civilization itself.
Article II — Japanese Exports to Persia
The Empire of Japan shall deliver to the Persian Empire the following goods, manufactured in the state-owned mills, foundries, arsenals, and shipyards of the Japanese realm, in quantities and at intervals to be agreed upon by the authorized trade representatives of both nations:
Rifles and Ammunition — modern breech-loading rifles produced in the arsenals of Japan, together with sufficient ammunition for their sustained use. These weapons shall arm the soldiers of the Persian Empire with the tools of modern warfare, replacing outdated matchlocks and smoothbores. Japan shall additionally provide the powder, shot, and cartridges necessary to keep these rifles in service, ensuring that Persian forces are never wanting for firepower.
Machinery and Tools — steam engines, mechanical presses, lathes, drills, and the full apparatus of industrial production, manufactured in the foundries of Kyoto and the workshops of Osaka. These machines shall enable Persia to begin its own industrial journey, to process its own resources, and to reduce its dependence on foreign manufactures. Japanese engineers shall accompany the first shipments to instruct Persian workmen in their operation and maintenance.
Article III — Strategic Naval Access
In recognition of the deep and abiding friendship between the two Empires, and in the interest of mutual security and the protection of maritime commerce, the following strategic arrangements are agreed upon:
Japanese Naval Base in Qatar — The Persian Empire grants to the Empire of Japan the right to construct, maintain, and operate a permanent naval base on the Qatari Peninsula, at a location to be mutually determined by the naval authorities of both nations. This base shall serve as a coaling station, resupply point, repair facility, and anchorage for vessels of the Imperial Japanese Navy operating in the Persian Gulf, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean. The base shall be sovereign Japanese territory for the duration of this Treaty, administered by the Imperial Navy under the laws of Japan. Japan shall bear all costs of construction and maintenance. Persian vessels shall be granted access to the base for resupply and shelter in times of need.
Persian Refueling and Resupply Rights at Midway — In exchange, the Empire of Japan grants to the Persian Empire the right to utilize the Japanese naval base at Midway Atoll for the purposes of refueling and resupply. Persian naval and merchant vessels may call at Midway to replenish coal, water, and provisions during voyages across the Pacific. These rights are limited to refueling and resupply only. Persian vessels shall not establish permanent facilities, station forces, or conduct military operations from Midway without the express authorization of the Imperial Japanese Navy. All activities shall conform to the regulations of the base.
Article IV — Terms of Exchange
The goods described in Articles I and II shall be exchanged on terms of mutual equivalence, with the specific quantities, schedules, and shipping arrangements to be negotiated by the trade representatives of both nations. Both parties agree that the value of the industrial goods provided by Japan shall be matched by the value of the luxury goods provided by Persia, ensuring a balanced and sustainable commerce that enriches both treasuries without indebting either nation.
Article V — Duration and Renewal
This Treaty shall remain in effect for a period of ten years from the date of ratification. Upon its expiration, both parties shall meet to renegotiate its terms in good faith.
