Why can I smell perfume on myself, BUT OTHERS CANT!

I’ve been having this problem for a long time since I Started using perfume since I was teenager. I always came across the same problem. When I spray the perfume on me I can smell it clear as day even hours after, but people around me stopped feeling any smell after 10-30 minutes. I tried googling around and I only see people having the opposite effect that they themself can’t smell but others can.
Or the smell just fades on themselves and on other. Apparently if a perfume suits you, yourself won’t be able to smell it. This is soooo frustrating does anyone else have this problem or am I one in billion??

1 year into collecting fragrances! What should I layer and what am I missing?

Hey everyone! It’s been exactly a year since I started collecting fragrances. My collection has grown quite a bit (pic attached), and I want to start experimenting.
I'm wondering which of these fragrances I could wear at the same time. Do you have any proven layering combos based on what you see here?
Also, please let me know what you think is missing from my current lineup, what should I hunt for next to round out the collection? Thanks in advance for the tips

Should Fragrances Belong To Certain Seasons/Occasions ?

Imo -

I Usually Wear Whatever I Want No Matter What Besides A Few Like

Louis Vuitton - Ombré Nomade (Winter/Special)

Xerjoff - Opera (Winter/Special)

Tom Ford - Black Orchid EDP (Special)

Tom Ford - Ombré Leather(Winter/Special)

I Live In Texas So Wearing Ombré Nomade in the Boiling Humidity Makes Me Sick So I Tend To Mostly Wear Freshies.

I Believe That You Can Wear Whatever You Want Whenever You Want But At The Same Time I Think Certain Scent Profiles Don’t Pair Well With
All Weather Conditions.

Should Designer Fragrances Ever Be Priced At Or Above 150$ ?

Imo-

As Someone Who Went From Dupes Only To Everything Across The Board I Think Some Fragrances Deserve To Have A Fairly High Price Point But For It To Be The Standard Is Ridiculous 100% To Me.

Dior just revealed Sauvage Extrait ⬇️

Dior has officially announced Sauvage Extrait, and it looks like it could be the darkest and most concentrated Sauvage yet.

I put together a quick breakdown with everything we know so far, including the release date, the direction Francis Kurkdjian is taking, and why this one might be very different from the previous releases.

Read it here:

Is Performance More Important Than Scent ?

IMO

I Was Hard Headed About Performance. I Used To Purposely Not Smell Or Try A Fragrance If I Heard It Had Terrible Performance.

Silver Mountain Water Changed My Whole Stance On This Topic. When I Smelled SMW I Fell In Love And Got A Bottle ASAP On Jomashop.
It’s performance Is Not Great And I Came To The Conclusion That If I Like A Scent Or Smell I Will Now Buy It Regardless Of Longevity. That’s Why I Went Ahead And Added Afternoon Swim To The Collection.

Is Performance A Yes Or No Factor For You ?

Heatwave friendly perfume (and layering combo)

Hey, I’m looking for advice on finding a fresh smelling perfume to wear this summer. I currently staying in Lisbon and the heat is reaching like 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). Back home in England I normally enjoy fruity perfumes in the summer such as Kayali Eden sparkling lychee ect. However I’m even finding these fruity perfumes to sweet in the heat as they just make me feel nauseous, so I’m after a scent combo that is gonna smell refreshing. I’m open to most scents so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What's your "I almost don't want to tell people about this" fragrance?

You know the one.

It's not necessarily rare or expensive, but every time someone asks what you're wearing, a tiny part of you wants to keep it to yourself.

Could be because it's underrated, gets overlooked, or just feels like your signature scent.

No gatekeeping required... unless you really want to. 😄

Tom Ford F*cking Fabulous vs Fearless Flame by Inspired by Scent

I did a side-by-side test of Tom Ford F*cking Fabulous and Fearless Flame by Inspired by Scent. Not an affiliate, bought both myself.

Application:
2 sprays wrist, 2 sprays inner elbow, 1 spray neck for each.

Right off the bat, Fearless Flame is shockingly close. Like, “how are they doing this?” close. Either there’s a computer involved or someone over there really knows the craft.

Opening
The OG opens sage-forward, with soft lavender, smooth vanilla, and a hint of leather. It feels blended, calm, and expensive in that annoying Tom Ford way.

Fearless Flame opens almost identical, but noticeably louder. I get sage, lavender, leather, vanilla, and maybe the tiniest hint of citrus. It’s stronger by far, but not sharp at first. Everything is just turned up.

20–30 minutes in
F*cking Fabulous starts to mellow pretty quickly. The lavender and vanilla move forward, the sage settles down, and the leather is still there but subtle. It becomes smoother and almost powdery.

Fearless Flame stays more sage-forward. The lavender and vanilla are still there, but the sage keeps driving the bus. At this stage it is still very recognizable as FF, but it’s a little less soft and blended than the original.

Around 3 hours
The OG has moved into vanilla, leather, and lavender, with sage in the background. It’s soft, pleasant, and not quite powdery, but close.

Fearless Flame is still stronger. The drydown is mostly sage and lavender, with the vanilla and leather pushed further back. It keeps more of that sage edge, which makes it feel a little harsher than the original as it dries down.

Around 4–5 hours
F*cking Fabulous is mostly lavender, a little powdery, with just a touch of sage.

Fearless Flame is almost all sage at this point, with the sweeter notes way in the background. By hour 5, the sage edge does soften a bit and it gets closer to powdery, but it never fully loses that slightly sharp sage-forward feel.

Verdict
Fearless Flame goes on so close to F*cking Fabulous that it genuinely had me puzzling over how they do it. Over time, though, they separate.

F*cking Fabulous dries down into a smoother vanilla/lavender/leather blend with just a trace of sage. Fearless Flame stays stronger and more sage-heavy, especially as the sweeter lavender, vanilla, and leather notes fade back.

That said, for the money? I’m very happy with the dupe. Fearless Flame is $84 for 3.4 oz, and at that price I can easily decant it and carry a travel spray to refresh every hour or two. It’s stronger, very close in the opening, and still clearly recognizable as F*cking Fabulous even into the drydown.

I may eventually buy a full bottle of the OG since I only used a decant, but honestly, I’m completely happy wearing the dupe.

Note on Inspired by Scent
I really like this brand overall. Their dupes are usually stronger/more concentrated than the inspiration, very close, and sometimes even better. Fearless Flame is probably my least favorite of the ones I’ve tried, and I still like it. Their Aventus, Millésime Imperial, GIT, and others have all been great. I’ve reviewed a few of them now.

EDIT: The next day, TF is essentially gone, the dupe is still very present, still sage forward, but a touch softer, sweeter, less sharp. Impressive longevity.

How do you decide what fragrance to wear every morning?

A few months ago, I accidentally fell down the fragrance rabbit hole… and now my collection has grown a LOT faster than I ever imagined. 😅

What’s the weather today?
Am I going to work or running errands?
How much contact will I have with my baby in the morning?
Which lotion or body mist would pair well? (These collections have also grown 🙈)

I can’t be the only one experiencing this.

• How do you decide what to wear each day?
• Do you plan around the weather or just go with your mood?
• Do you layer with lotions, body oils, or mists?
• Do you ever feel like you have “too many choices” and end up reaching for the same few fragrances?

I’d genuinely love to hear how other collectors approach it. Maybe I’m overthinking it… or maybe this is just part of the hobby. 😊

Fresh Clean Professional Perfume Wear

Am looking for an everyday work perfume that smells clean, professional and not too loud.

I like citrus taste like lemon and orange, plus light floral touches. What I don’t want is anything overly sweet or overpowering—it needs to feel fresh, not heavy in an office environment.

Budget is around $100 and I’m open to good quality brands that last decently throughout the day.

Any recommendations that actually work in real life, not just on paper?

ISO e Súper molecule Fragrance World – Esscentric 01 Maison Alhambra – Monocline 01

Grettings, Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some clarity on these two specific clones I’ve been looking into. I’m a bit confused by the naming conventions and the marketing, and I was hoping someone here could help me understand what these are actually trying to mimic.

I’m looking at:

Fragrance World – Esscentric 01

Maison Alhambra – Monocline 01

My main questions are:

What are they actually cloning? Is it the pure Molecule 01 (the Iso E Super experience) or are they actually attempting to replicate Escentric 01 (the complex composition)? The names seem to blur the line between the two, and I’m not sure if I’m getting a single-molecule scent or a more complex blend.

Is there a difference in quality? Since they are both in the same "budget clone" category, is there any noticeable difference between Fragrance World and Maison Alhambra in terms of performance or scent accuracy?

And for last any of these smells like old lady cosmetic bag?

Thanks, and keep the great work!

Finally got a blind purchase from Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Baccarat Rouge 540 after months of build-up... I have no idea what to think now. Am I just noseblind?

I was so excited for this one because of the note description I found online (saffron, amberwood, cedar). This one is described as the perfect combination of luxury that people love to talk about on TikTok and Reddit and is called a "masterpiece" by many. Hence, I felt quite comfortable buying a decant.

But on my skin? This thing smells like a doctor's office and burnt cotton candy. Tried letting it sit for three hours, hoping for the legendary "magical" airy trail that people are raving about, but all I got was a slight hint of dental scrub and plastic. Don't really know if my skin chemistry or something else is making it not work for me.

Anyone else experienced a massive let-down from something highly recommended and considered a "safe luxury buy"? What is your fragrance regret of the year?

What are your thoughts on CK One?

It has all the notes i've been recently hooked on and I am planning to buy it soon. It's clean and citrusy although I do see some comments on it smelling like cat pee causing me to have second thoughts on buying it.

This got to be my all time favorite.

Is a bit hard to find it in my country, but any time I get the chance I put it in the shopping bag.

By the way, what is your favorite???

Newbie-Friendly Advice

Hello. I am a complete rookie regarding scents. How often should I use perfume and do people just naturally acclimate to it? If memory serves me right, I wore perfume during late 2025. Possibly even later. I have nothing against perfume. I simply never found myself very receptive. So, yeah. That about sums up the musings of a newbie. Hope to hear everyone's thoughts : )
