r/Peripheryband

Anyone else find themselves drawn more to the melodic songs recently?
I'm absolutely into heavy as balls music but with Periphery (who I absolutely count amongst my very favourite bands) I unfortunately fit in the camp that is a bit disappointed with the last two releases. The heavier songs feel like much of a muchness and the only songs I replay a lot are Wax Wings for P5 and Heaven on High for APWD.
NGD (to me) Ibanez JBM27
Been wanting to get a new 7 for a while now. Have a Jackson JS22-7 which has been great for what it is but I wanted something that felt more like a forever guitar.
I’ve always loved the look of Jake’s signature guitars, although the trem was honestly one of the things that initially put me off.
Ended up finding this one used in fantastic condition for a great price.
Gave er a full setup and cleaning once I got er. Just blown away. Plays and sounds amazing, and somehow looks even better in person.
Couldn’t be happier with it.

APWD Frame Completed
Big thanks to my local framer for encapsulating this signed APWD poster with such care and attention to detail.
Can't imagine a better frame choice. Wherever this album sits in a tier-list, it's abundantly clear that the boys really left a piece of themselves in this record. This felt like a good way to commemorate it, I'm super happy with how it came out and couldn't get it on my office wall fast enough.
Periphery 3 MIGHT be my favorite album
Why do I look like I’m the only one who absolutely love P3 ? Why some of you don’t really like it ?
Finally able to see them!
Been a fan for quite awhile and I swear everytime I checked they were always out of the US or something. On a whim I checked yesterday and saw they were semi close to me. Finally going to see them live!
Birthday gift from wife!!
I have been looking for a push/pull guitar for over a year now. Started when I found a fender custom telecaster and I continued doing research. I went to a local music store in my home town where they primarily carry PRS. I played the 6 string SE Mark Holcomb and I fell in love with it (I didn't know Mark Holcomb was the guitarist for Periphery until I looked it up, but I love Periphery).
I wanted to get one new after saving up for a while, but then I found the 7 string version and holy crap. I didn't know they made one, and had never played a 7 string before. Needless to say, I think I'm spoiled to other 7 strings. My wife took me back there after I mentioned it to her and she bought it for me that day.
I can't even begin to express how grateful I am that she not only went out of her way to get to know my interests, but she bought it for me after knowing I would have to save up. I probably will end up buying the 6 string version in the future, just because lol. But this thing rips, looks amazing and now it's got so much sentimental value, it'll never leave my possession.
Thank you baby!!!!!

Still not over APWD
Genuinely I think it’s such a special periphery record. I enjoy the experience as a whole especially, more than any individual song (though they all slap). The concept is so heartfelt and important to me and so many others. Still so stoked that I saw a few of these live (London). I think it’s awesome to see periphery open up like this, we might not see anything this personal again. Love 🖤
What are the themes Periphery explores in their lyrics?
I know Have a Blast is about escaping a desk job and It's only smiles is about spencer losing his sister. What are the other themes their songs are about?
The Price is Wrong
I mean come on I had to post this. P3 confirmed.
An ode to Periphery.
I wanted to share my thoughts, a few months after the release of APWD, since somehow this album has been quite divisive (or at least, this is my perception, which may be totally wrong!)
The first thing I have to say is that we should be very, very thankful to have a band with such an immense courage, integrity and honesty to put out an album that reflects solely what they have felt was the right thing to do for them. Since the beginning, the band has been always crystal clear about thery "philosophy", namely, writing albums the way they like, without trying to force-please the listeners.
Some may call this egoism, but for me this is the very essence of an artist.
I say all of this as a P5 absolute enjoyer. At first I really wasn't into APWD, but then, listening after listing, i started to feel the authenticity and and the desire to communicate something truly profound and complex, not merely through technicalities, but by imbuing every song with emotional meaning.
That's all.
Thanks to every member of this fantastic band, I love you all.
Cosmic Meltdown visualizer - Reference to Nic Cage?
The sun in the official visualizer of King Mothership's Cosmic Meltdown is an uncanny match for the greatest actor of all time, Nicolas Cage. What are the implications of this?
Fixing Periphery 1 (HOT TAKE)
I think that Periphery 1 as a complete work would benefit with some addition by subtraction. While Ow My Feelings, Zygirox, and Totla Mad are all dope songs on their own, I don't really think that they contribute much to the album as a whole. If the tracking order went from Icarus Lives directly to Racecar, you shave 15 minutes off the total album length, and your ears aren't completely exhausted by the time Racecar begins.
What do you think?
