What's y'alls favorite song from the new album?

I loved all of them, but my favorite has gotta be Malevolent. The chorus is so groovy yet intense at the same time.

Got my APWD vinyl🤍

This is the Impericon version. Mine has a lot of white on it but I love the look of watercolor running it ended up having.

The design is gorgeous! The tracklist especially is beautiful. I only wish the two inner sleeves had different prints, but that's nitpicking. I appreciate Periphery for sticking to their guns about graphic design over the textless photo trend. On the big sleeve, it still has a lot of impact despite being a more simple, bold design. There are little specks of that off-white scattered across the outer covers and it's subtle but does so much for me.

Jake appreciation post

Heaven on High is such an incredible song. Jake is so goddamn talented.

That song is definitely my favourite off of the new album.

How Many times have you listened to the new album already?

Ive been listening to the entire album about 4-8 times a day for the past near 7 days 😅

Anyone else just have it playing on repeat?

Next album to be the opposite of loneliness?

Would be sick to go in the opposite direction and make an album about rainbows and sunshine.

Maybe a song called Everyone Lives Together

APWD is my favourite Periphery album ever.

I have been following Periphery and all of it's member's side projects for a long time, purely because I fucking enjoyed all of it, regardless of the "Periphery" fingerprint. This new album did something for me, I'm not yet sure what that is, but it felt like it filled out a void in many ways (this applies both as a creative and a human). This is the first time in a long time that every single song on an album has moved me to this extent. All I can say is congratulations and thank you to the boys for this wonderful manifestation of art.

A Pale White Dot (title track) lyrics?

Even though the album's been out since Friday, I chose to wait until I got a physical copy (CD) so I could experience the album for the first time the way I've been doing since Juggernaut; alone in an empty room with the lyrics in front of me.

When I reached the title track, I noticed that there are lyrics in the booklet, even though the song is clearly an instrumental. Even better yet, I thing they are the best lyrics on the album and some straight up excellent prose/poetry in its own right. It really captures the entire concept of the album quite beautifully.

I wondered if anyone else had noticed it, and for those of you who haven't seen it, here's the words:

The weight of loneliness slows time, introspection becomes unavoidable

Once the discomfort subsides, one can bathe in the clarity

Loneliness is a mirror, pure and undistorted

Our parts come alive and speak as themselves

Creativity free to flow without fear of interruption

The power of connection is counterbalanced and emphasized by one's depth of loneliness

Accepting and internalizing this dichotomy allows one to truly harness its power

Ironically, one who is mindful of this is never truly alone

If any band members show up in this thread I'm curious who wrote it, and what served as inspiration.

NPD - Misha^2

I put some Bare Knuckle Juggernauts into my Pro Plus ET6. If I had a Peavey Invective, I'd really be going full Misha. Anyways, they pickups are real nice and articulate with chords. Put myself into a literal trance strumming a basic chord progression of sus and add9's. Real ear candy. Ironically, I find the MM1's to be better for actual djenting, haha. You gotta really beat on the juggernauts to get a good chug going. S tier in all other categories tho .

Why are the lyrics not available on Apple Music for Carry On?

I’m aware you guys probably don’t know, but the lyrics are available for every other song. It’s my favorite song too 😔

APWD is the Least Boring Heavy Music Album ever

Here's your award. I've loved about every type of heavy music there is over the years. Growing up, I'd see every metal, hardcore, death, punk, rock etc etc band I could. And while I love so many albums, I've never found one album that represents my broad tastes and dynamics even close to fully.

Enter, A Pale White Dot.

It has everything I personally love. Of course, most of these elements are scattered across the past P albums in a way other bands have not tried to do. But for me, every moment of every song represents something I like.

Vocal dynamics

Sonic, hypnotizing riffs

Varying tones

Heavy breakdowns

Grooves

Solos

Atmospheric undertones

Unbelievable drumming and rhythms

Straightforward vulnerable exposed lyrics

I could keep going. And going.

I completely understand there's a niche community who find the past albums to be perfect for them. I get that they lean towards the more progressive elements. I'm not trying to change your mind. You like what you like.

But to me, this is all killer, no filler; the type of variety at a high level that only exists on playlists over many artists, not one band, and definitely not one album.

Can't wait to cause a ruckus at my next hometown show and see some of you there!

APWD Song and Album Rankings, alongside the rest of the discography

Song Ranking: Each tier is organized by album release, and song order on album. For example, Lune, Reptile, and Smiles would be at the top if it was ordered.

Album Ranking: ordered, Left to Right: Best to Worst. For Example, P3 > P5 > Jugg

Just my opinions, I already know Imma catch Hell Below for my opinion of Froggin' Bullfish. I love you love it, idk why it just has never fully clicked with me as much.

I could see any or all of these songs on APWD bumping up a tier over time. I just don't know if I can quite yet put any of them on par with Lune, Smiles, Reptile, Satellites, or any others in Eargasmic tier. But hey at one point Satellites was probably in "good" tier for me, before it just clicked. The beauty of periphery songs is they always have a chance of just clicking with the brain out of nowhere and going from good to WOW.

My 'APale White Dot' rankings after ALOT of listens

I haven't listened to anything since it dropped, they are goated. Lets all thank the boys for this masterpiece.

I don’t like the new album

I’m obviously a minority and that’s okay. I love periphery and respect the process. This album just isn’t doing it for me even after listening through tons. Maybe one day it’ll hit hard but to date this is probably my least favorite album.
