elitists and fun police in the electronic music space

Delete if this goes against community rules but I've noticed so much elitism and just overall negativity in the electronic music community as of late. I've been a fan of electronic music all my life and been listening to perturbator since 2022 (super late, I know). I'd like to make more friends who share my taste in music but every time i look at the other fans of my favorite artists it's always so much negativity. For PTB specifically it's gotten much worse as of late, and maybe it's because a lot of people didn't like age of aquarius and it's unique sound, which is fine, i get that people have preferences. Just feels sooo annoying trying to make friends in the space and seeing 99% fall into the categories of either weirdo, music elitist, or d1 complainer. I don't really use reddit, but I wanted to drop in and ask, has it always been this way? Am I insane for thinking that the negativity is getting worse? From what I've seen, post-pandemic fan spaces have all gotten worse, which makes sense because the internet as a whole has declined, but I had always kinda seen the edm sphere of the internet as a positive and open community, maybe I was wrong.
