Idli needs a loving home!

Idli was found crying outside our apartment with dog bite wounds. Even with a traumatic incident like that, he did not stop being friendly and interacted with all the residents passing by asking for help. Even though we did not have capacity to adopt a new cat (we had 2 at that time), we took him in and cared for him. He has been with us for over 2 years now. We had put him up for adoption back then, but I guess he was meant to live with us for a while.

But time did it's thing and I am leaving Bangalore to go to my hometown due to a personal emergency and I won't be back for a while. My 2 friends are already looking after 4 other cats (including Mosaru, who needs regular medical attention).Though Idli has my heart, it is my responsibility to find a loving home for him.

He is ginger but has no traits of a typical ginger.

He is friendly, playful, and not very mischievous. He gets along with our cats and plays with them.

As a bonus, he will sleep next to you as your pillow!

We have tried to find a home for him with other people in our circle, but we haven't found any takers. But if we dont find a home soon, we will sadly have to put him in a shelter which breaks my heart. He has never caused any issues and loves to play and will absolutely light up your lives.

Even if you are in no position to adopt him, we would really appreciate it if you could atleast share this post with someone who needs Idli in their lives.

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka

Gender and Age: Male. Estimated around 3 - 4 years old

Status: Vaccinated, Neutered,

Temperament: Friendly with humans and other cats

Dog found near Sheshadripuram - searching for owner

This dog seems to have strayed away from home as it still has a collar intact, it has taken shelter in front of an office building from morning and is scared to go anywhere. If anyone can recognise or find the owner of this dog will be really helpful.

Floofy - Built by Rescuers, For Rescuers.

One of the most underrated communities in Animal Welfare is the community of Individual rescuers.

NGOs, being formalized organizations, often get recognition, easier access to funds, and are celebrated for the incredible work they do. But as an individual rescuer myself, I can say that there’s another side to animal welfare that often goes unseen.

Using personal savings for treatments and sterilization.
Responding to rescue calls at midnight.
Managing adoptions alone.
Putting enormous personal time, effort, and emotions into helping abandoned and injured animals.

A lot of this work quietly happens in the background, without enough support or structure.

What surprised me even more was this - there are hundreds of apps built for pet parents, pet shopping, breeding, and even dog dating, but hardly any platforms that genuinely help rescuers and make their work easier.

As a rescuer myself since 2024, I’ve faced these challenges firsthand. And this became one of the biggest motivations behind building Floofy. 🐾

A platform focused on helping rescuers connect with verified and serious adopters, manage adoption requests, and strengthen rescue efforts through technology.

In Bengaluru alone, over the last 6 weeks, 100+ rescuers have installed and made Floofy a part of their rescue journey.

40+ Pets found homes in the last month alone - and we’re only getting stronger every day. ❤️

Make Floofy a part of your Rescue Journey. Download the app today.

Cat spaying surgery advice

I have a 6 month old stray cat who showed up at my home a while back

Today I got her vaccinated and dewormed, and it cost around ₹1800 total.

Her spaying surgery is scheduled for 30th May. The doctor said:

• Surgery + medicines will cost ₹7,000

• Blood tests on 29th May will cost around ₹1,000

The vet also told me she should recover pretty quickly and may start walking/jumping around within 24 hours after surgery.

Can anyone who has experience with cat spaying please confirm if this sounds correct? I’m a little anxious and just want to make sure I’m doing everything right.

I’ll be at home with her full-time until the 8th june, so I can take care of her 24/7 during recovery. Is that enough time for her to bounce back and become completely healthy again?

I wont be there after 8th for a long while.

I have put her up for adoption too and in case no one adopts her, i am going to set up a feeding machine.

Any advice or reassurance would really help ❤️

[Adoption Appeal: Bangalore] Meet Max aka Maximus: A brave little survivor looking for a new best friend.

Max wasn't always a solo act. He was part of a bonded pair living in a garden area nearby, but tragedy struck when his sibling passed away in an accident. Seeing him suddenly alone, wandering the garden and calling out for his partner, was heartbreaking. He was grieving and vulnerable, so I brought him in.

Since then, it’s been clear that he isn’t just looking for a roof—he’s looking for the companionship he lost.

Why Max is a Total Gem?

- The Ultimate "Bondsman": Because he was so close to his sibling, he is exceptional with other pets. He’s already trying to win over my resident cat with zero aggression. He’s a lover, not a fighter.

- Instantly Friendly: He adjusted to indoor life in minutes. He’s incredibly affectionate with humans and will actively seek out your lap for a nap.

- Confidence for Days: Brave, curious, and social. He doesn’t hide under the bed; he wants to be part of the family.

- The Look: Classic Grey & White bicolor coat, pink "jellybean" toes, and a very expressive little face.

Medical & Logistics (Fully covered by me):

I want Max to have a perfect start, so I am personally covering his primary care, deworming, and his first round of vaccinations.

- Age: ~5 months.

- Gender: Male

- Health: Energetic and in perfectly good health

- Litter Trained: Yes! He’s been a perfect gentleman with his tray since hour one.

Ideal Home:

He would thrive anywhere he isn't lonely. He’d love a home with a "big brother/sister" cat or a family that has plenty of love to give. After what he’s been through, he truly deserves a "forever" bond.

Location: Haralur, Bangalore.

The hardest part about loving dogs in Bangalore: Knowing when to say "not yet."

I live alone in a flat here in Bangalore. Like many of you, I have a demanding 10 to 7 job, and by the time I commute back, it’s often late.

I absolutely love dogs. My heart melts every time I see a Golden Retriever or an Indie on the streets.

Coming back to an empty flat after an 11hour, draining shift the thought of a dog waiting for me, tail wagging, sounds like the ultimate therapy.

I almost pulled the trigger and adopted one. But then, reality hit me hard.

I realized that keeping a dog locked up alone in an apartment for a day isn't love it's unfair.

They are pack animals they need time, attention, and companionship. Bringing a dog home just to cure my own loneliness, only to force them into a life of isolation and separation anxiety, would be a selfish act, not an act of love.

I see so many cases in Bangalore where working bachelors or couples adopt high energy breeds out of excitement, only to abandon them or surrender them when they realize they can't manage the medical needs or the constant need for engagement. It breaks my heart every single time.

So, as much as I desperately want a dog, I’ve decided to wait. I’m waiting until I have a more stable WFH setup or a family environment where the dog won't be lonely. Until then, I find my "dog-therapy" by feeding the strays near my place and taking weekend visits to Parks.

True love sometimes means knowing when you aren't ready for them yet.

To all the other working singles living alone in this city Please, think 100 times before getting a pet. Don't let your temporary emotional need become a lifetime of struggle for an innocent animal.

How do you fellow dog lovers here cope with this dilemma? Do you have tips for people in similar positions, or did you find a way to make it work?
