Outdoor Space for Small Wedding

Does anyone have any recommendations on where my partner and I could have a small wedding ceremony in early Sept. It will just be the two of us, our dog, and the officiant. We are looking for a nice outdoor space in Philly that is quiet and lowkey.

Unconventional request

Edit: thank you all so much for your unwavering support. We cannot begin to explain how much this means to us. I thought this was a desperate attempt and we’d maybe get a few responses but you all have shown such an outpouring of love. Unfortunately we only had a couple of seats to fill and we have filled them but I wish I had a billion dollars to invite you all. Thank you again!

Hi everyone! I hope this doesn’t come across as completely insane, but I’m making a slightly unconventional wedding guest plea.

My fiancé and I are getting married in Philadelphia on Friday, September 18, and we’ve had a much harder time reaching our guest count than we ever expected. My fiancé is from Philly and we absolutely love the city, but unfortunately he doesn’t have any family left and my family are all traveling in from out of state. As a result, we’ve received significantly more “no” RSVPs than we anticipated.

This is a desperate, last-ditch effort to fill out our tables a little bit, we’re looking for 4–6 people (couples welcome!) who might be interested in coming to our wedding.

You’d get a free dinner, open bar, and an excuse to get dressed up and attend a wedding with a bunch of strangers. We’re hoping for people who are comfortable being social and having fun with a group of people they don’t know. Cocktail or formal attire would be appreciated, and I can give you the basic backstory on the groom so you don’t have to explain that you found us on Facebook.

I know this is a VERY unusual request, but I figured there’s no harm in putting it out there. If you’re local, love weddings, enjoy meeting new people, or just think this sounds like a funny Friday night adventure, please DM me!

looking for engagement photo location recommendations

hello!! My fiancé and I are looking for some recommendations on where to take engagement photos near Philly or in NJ. We wanted to go to Longwood Gardens, but there is a crazy process/cost for bringing an outside photographer there!! We don’t mind paying admission fees, but don’t think the price was worth it. Our second choice was Princeton’s campus, but our session will be once school is back in session (late September) & I’m concerned about that being disruptive for photos.

Does anyone have any other recommendations similar to these options or insights into the locations above? For more context: 1) we are based in Philly, but from NJ, and don’t want to drive more than an hour and 2) we are getting married at Ashford Estate & want something that matches that vibe!

Hair and makeup recommendations?

Anyone you highly recommend? Or maybe don’t recommend at all? What is the average cost per service in the Philly area? I’m lost!

Looking for a wedding dress shop in Philly area that I can find an above the knee, tea length, or midi dress.

I'm getting married at Fiorella in May and do not want a gown or floor length dress! My budget is around $1,500. I keep seeing dresses that are mini and I don't want to turn the wrong way and have a slip. I've looked up dresses that you can custom order online, but I'd love to actually try on a dress! I've been spinning out about ordering a custom dress and it not fitting the way I envisioned. Thank you so much for any and all recs!

Court House and Reception

Hi everyone! I’m considering doing a court house or City Hall wedding ceremony to save money. I would still like to have some sort of reception or celebration after with food and dancing (not just an “intimate dinner”). Has anyone done this? Curious about:
- Timeline: Separate or same day? Same weekend?
- Venues: Affordable spots in Philly area for 50-100 people? Could I say the “reception” is just a party to save money?
- Any other tips! I want to save money but still want to dance and celebrate with friends and family

Booking DJ and live musicians separately

Has anyone booked a hybrid DJ/ live band separately? I’ve inquired with a couple of the bigger companies (BVT and EBE) and they require you to select from their list of DJs. The problem is I have a DJ that isn’t part of a bigger company, has anyone booked live musicians separately from the DJ and who did you use? Also if the wedding has passed, did you like them??

Looking for Philly area Photographer that specializes in film

Getting married on the Main Line in November 2027 and starting the photographer search. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Would love someone with a fine arts degree or an artistic style. Hoping to do staged family photos (reminiscent of antique photography) in addition to candid!

Wedding Ceremony at Barnegat Lighthouse- backup options for rain?

Has anyone had their wedding outdoors at LBI, NJ or specifically at Barnegat Lighthouse, and if so what was your backup location in the case of rain? My reception location is a restaurant and is not ideal for the ceremony itself. I have considered the Bay Breeze Park pavilion, but the view of the lighthouse is obstructed and is not fully enclosed to provide adequate shelter from rain. Please let me know of any ideas :) Wedding size 50-60 people in July

Makeup artists for brides with sensitive skin

Does anyone have recommendations for makeup artists who are accommodating to brides with sensitive skin? I have sensitive skin and am really only supposed to use fragrance free items, and I’m also allergic to beeswax (basically all lipstick is made with beeswax btw). I don’t think my sensitivities are so bad I need to exclusively bring my own makeup (I don’t have much anyway), but I’d love to work with someone who can accommodate as much as possible the fact that I need to use fragrance free makeup and just general hypoallergenic makeup. Thanks!
