Are Xiaomi phones lasting longer now?

Hi guys! I had bad experience with Xiaomi phone battery and I would like to ask whether it became better

In 2020-2022 I had Xiaomi Redmi 8T and after 2,5 years the battery wasn't trustable. I need my phone on the way home, so I had to buy an another one

Currently (4 years long), I have Samsung A53 and I don't have problems, if it is too sunny or too hot today

I'm not going to buy a new phone right know but I would assume that it may happen next year. I have no problems with my phone but 128gb are too less and SD-cards are not trustable enough to preserve my memories there

I don't ask about phones which costs >1000€. For that price we can find a lot of good phones. My budget is under 1000€ (better under 800€). My demands are: at least 512gb (🥺) and trustable battery. Maybe coluld anybody tell me their experience with Xiaomi phones after 2 years?

Thanks in advance!!!

(My text may sound weird. English is not my first language. Sorry)

Thinking about getting a new phone, new to android

Hello! I'm a long time iPhone user and am fed up by the morality of the company, the planned obsolescence and the handful unnessecary (but REALLY frustrating) lack of functions of the iOS system. However, I do really appreciate the design (both of the phone and UI) and am hoping I can find an android phone that has the functionality and durability I need, while being 'pretty', for a lack of a better word.

I don't know much about android yet accept that it's at it's core an open source software and that different phone manufacturers install it with different functions, looks and limitations.

As for the hardware, I like small phones (my iPhone 12 pro has H: 146.7 mm (5.78 in) and W: 71.5 mm (2.81 in)), no need for a crazy camera, and I'd rather have it last years than have fancy features.

My questions are the following:

  1. Are the software installed by the manufacturers very imposing? Can I 'jailbreak' android easy to impose my own set of UI designs and software functionalities?
  2. If not, are there some manufacturers that have quality software design/don't impose much?
  3. What are your recommendations for durable, small smartphones?

Thanks!

Looking for updating my S22

I currently have a Samsung S22, which I bought 3 years ago. Before that, I had a Samsung S8 that lasted me 5 years and I was very happy with it, which is why I stuck with Samsung.

However, I haven’t been satisfied with the S22 (Exynos version). The battery life is poor, it lags, gets hot, and I’ve had various performance issues.

I’m looking to upgrade my smartphone, but from what I’ve been reading, Samsung phones still seem to have relatively poor battery life compared to the competition. On top of that, in my country they still come with Exynos processors.

I’m looking for a relatively compact phone (around 6.2–6.5"), with good battery life and, above all, great performance. I want apps to feel smooth, be able to keep several apps open at the same time, etc. The camera isn’t a critical factor for me. I expect a decent camera, but it doesn’t need to be amazing since my use is mostly everyday stuff.

What would you recommend?

I’ve been looking into the Oppo Find X9, and it seems like a lot of people consider it a great phone. However, I’m a bit concerned about it using a MediaTek processor rather than Snapdragon, as Snapdragon seems to offer the best performance.

Switching from iPhone 15: Galaxy S26 Ultra vs Pixel 11 Pro XL (Same price, 512GB)

Hey everyone! I'm making the jump from iPhone to Android and I'm torn between the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL (both 512GB variants, priced exactly the same for me).

Context & priorities:
Ecosystem: Coming from iOS; I currently use iCloud but already have all my data and media backed up to Google Drive
Smoothness & Longevity: My main aim is a phone that feels consistently buttery smooth and will hold up reliably over several years.
Camera for Socials: Looking for dependable point-and-shoot camera quality and good optimization when sharing photos/videos on social media apps.
Extra context: I own already Gemini premium, I use only chrome even on my iPhone and I have all my pics from iCloud already on Google Drive and I don’t want to do any extra subscription to any new drive

Given that price and storage are identical, (Samsung only gives me buds pro 4 for free coming with the phone instead pixel just some Google one discount for a year) which one would you recommend for someone transitioning from iOS with these priorities? Thanks!

Pixel like experience for 400-500€

First of all, hi to everyone and thank for your time. I spent a bit of time reading and looking around, there is a lot of choise but at the same time not much good stuff.

I daily a Pixel 6a, I loved it and still love, work amazing for me, bought at day one, but I spent my last 6 months living on my bed because of chemotherapy (almost finished) and so I probably drained completely the battery, to a point that it was lasting 2 days on full usage and now it's 50% battery at half day with 3 hours of display after begin charge all night.

What I want: a Pixel experience in term of OS, where possible, a smaller phone like my 6a if possible, I don't play game, i mostly read stuff (like reddit) and play music to my BTR15. Camera quality doesn't matter, I have a reflex, I mostly want a good average display like the one on the 6a, very good battery, possibly a good 5G modem that doesn't drain all the battery like on Pixel phones. Storage doesn't matter, I have a NAS and VPN.

What I don't want: no Samsung, no phone with Ads and bloatware, no Pixel (too much expensive), no used phones. And I don't have time and will to install other OS and stuff like that, I need a product that work out of the box.

For reference, phone generally last me years, my OnePlus 3T last 7 years, previously my Nexus 5 more then 7.

I don't like spending more then 400€, but I'm considering getting it on Black Friday, so maybe I find good deals, that's why I'm ok for now with a bigger budget. I'm in Europe.

I'm towards Motorola, because I got cheap ones for my parents and they work very good and get abused a lot. I like the OnePlus 15R but price is over me.

Thanks again.

Update: I found the Pixel 10a for 399€ and the Motorola Edge 70 Pro around 400+€. The pixel is tempting for the 7 years of update and the Google experience, the Motorola is tempting for the 6500mAh battery.

Help me pick! My eyes are bleeding from the research!

I have a worn out iPhone 13 base.

All I want is:

A good phone with a great camera with a zoom lense (I have two kids that play sports).

Decent battery and chip that will stand the test of time because I’ll probably wait another 5 years to upgrade again.

That’s it!

I don’t play games, just basic text/calls/scrolling/YouTube.

I’m interested in android because I HATE Siri and like the customization of android but wouldn’t be opposed to another Apple.

Would like to stick around 600$ and can be refurbished.

I’m thinking pixel 10 or Samsung galaxy s25 but open to anything other than the Chinese brands!

THANK YOU!

Pixel 10 vs Galaxy S26

Hey guys !

I'm gonna buy a new phone because my Samsung s20fe is actually dying. 😣

I have two options, either the Samsung galaxy S26 but which is under Exynos 2600 or the base Google Pixel 10.

I play a little but really little games on phones, I mosty use them for social networks, watch videos and take pictures of my animals or my loved ones, (and sometimes videos of concerts with a zoom most of the time) .

(I also like being able to customize my phone, like how the time is written on the lock screen but that's just a plus, not absolutely necessary)

So... Which one should I buy ?

Please help me choosing between this phones and experience using them

My main concern is : 1. Good camera, sometimes like doing astrophotography casually but looking for nice selfie bcs I want to take nice photo for my family. 2. chipset wise that can stand for future 5 years. I dont look for absolute gaming performance but better chipset is better to withstand future demand. 3. Battery at minimum 5000, more is better. 4.Cleaner OS minimum bloatware/ads but even if they had them I can disabled it all permanently. 5.Good tools for editing like AI tools for remove object etc

my current phone is poco x3 nfc so I want better performance and this time as I said before better camera bcs poco camera's is... well. My sibling had Poco F7 12/516 and the camera doesn't feel nice enough. Other sibling had samsung A55 camera wise still not nice enough and both of them AI photo edit wise is still not great.

My candidates based on budget, all of them 8/256 I also attach budget wise variant.

  1. Oppo Reno 15 or 16 F (Look nice for selfie and camera is great but chipset wise kind of deterring for years of usage)

  2. Iqoo 15R, or Neo 10 and Z11 due to budget wise (chipset is great, but camera I'm not sure. Might drop them if the camera and AI tools quality is same as Poco F7)

  3. Vivoo V70, or V79 FE preferable due to budget wise (Seems all rounder?I 'm not sure)

  4. Realme 16 Pro (Haven't try this on so I only out this here base on price wise)

  5. Xiaomi 17T or 15T (Curious.Os might bloated as heck but I'm okay for a bit work to debloat)

Can anyone here kindly told their experience using these phones? I would like to hear it. I might buy in another 2-5 months. Phone prices is crazy right now.

Looking for a new Android phone (with some uncommon requirements) - UK

I'm looking at replacing my OnePlus 8T I've had for about 6 years, and I'm struggling to narrow down what I actually want, so I thought I'd ask here rather than just looking at the usual "best phone" lists.

My original budget was around £600, although I've got some wiggle room if there's a good reason to spend more. I do think the current phone market is generally over-inflated though, so I'd have a hard time justifying much over the £800 - £1,000 region, unless the phone is genuinely exceptional.

The main things I'm looking for are good battery life, a clean OS, expandable storage (not a deal breaker), and a really good camera (particularly good video/slow-motion capabilities)

Battery life is important because I'm about to start working full-time as an R&D Technician, and I travel around quite a lot of Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. So I'd rather have a phone that can comfortably get through a long day of work, travelling, etc. without me having to worry about charging it.

The camera requirements are probably the slightly unusual part.

I do archery coaching as a hobby, and although my coaching hours are going to reduce quite a bit now that I'm starting full-time work, I still want the phone to be good for it. I normally film/photograph an archer and then review it with them a couple of minutes later, rather than needing live/delayed playback.

Most of my work is at around 5–10 metres away from the subject, although occasionally I'll be around 10–20 metres. I also film from quite a few different angles depending on what I'm looking at, most commonly side-on (roughly 3 o'clock relative to the subject), but I'll also use 6, 7, or 9 o'clock positions.

The things I'm trying to capture aren't necessarily pretty footage. I'm looking for small details like:

  • Finger/string release
  • Flinching
  • Bow hand movement
  • Small movements during the shot
  • General shot execution

So having a high frame rate is really important as some of these happen in fractions of a second. 120fps would be the minimum I'd ideally want, and higher is obviously useful.

At the same time, I need enough resolution that I can zoom into the footage afterwards without it turning into a complete blurry mess. I don't necessarily need a huge optical zoom, but a good telephoto camera would obviously be useful when I'm further away or want to focus in on specific motions.

Outside of coaching, I want something that is just a really good everyday phone. I've genuinely really enjoyed using my OnePlus 8T, particularly the OxygenOS experience. I like Android and I'd prefer something that feels relatively clean and doesn't have loads of unnecessary apps/features getting in the way.

I'm also trying to avoid AI features. I realise that's probably becoming impossible with modern phones, so I'm not expecting to find a completely AI-free phone. What I'd ideally like is something where I can disable or ignore most of the AI features rather than having them constantly integrated into the way I use the phone.

The current OnePlus situation is making things more complicated. I really like OnePlus, but with them pulling back from the European market, I'm concerned about buying a phone that might leave me with limited support or availability a few years down the line. That's probably the biggest reason I'm looking at alternatives rather than just buying a newer OnePlus model.

At the moment I've been looking at:

  • OPPO Find X9
  • Sony Xperia 1 VII
  • Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
  • OnePlus 15

The OPPO stands out because it offers a lot of what I like about the OnePlus hardware, while actually being a company that's still operating in the UK. The downside for me though is ColorOS and the increased amount of AI integration.

The Sony interests me because of the camera/video side of things and the much cleaner approach to software, but I'm not sure how good it is as an everyday phone compared with something like the OPPO or Samsung.

And Samsung seems to be the obvious "does everything really well" option, but I'm not sure I'd enjoy One UI and all of the AI integration after being used to OxygenOS.

So, if you were in my position, what would you go for?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who actually own/use these phones rather than just general spec comparisons. I'd also be interested in suggestions for phones I've completely overlooked.

I know it's a bit more niche, but if anyone has actually used one of these phones for sports coaching/recording high-frame-rate video, I'd especially like to hear how well it works in practice. Specs are useful, but I'm much more interested in whether you can actually scrub through the footage and zoom into something like a finger release without the footage falling apart.

Thanks in advance for any information/help, and sorry for the long post!

First android phone

So had an iPhone forever, recently though ran into hardware issues that caused the phone to fail and not happy about that. So looking for my first android phone, originally liked the concept of the fairphone, but feels like lot of trade off with functionality. I also will say I work in an industry that is heavily target by China in cyber threats, so a Chinese phone company will not qualify. Ironically I get it that basically all phones are manufactured in China…

What is everyone’s thoughts on Google pixel?

Help me find EU/Italy Budget aorund 250€

Hi! 👋

I'm hiking in Romanian mountains (0–10°C, waterfalls, mud, snow). My old phone is dying. Need a new replacement under 250–280€.

Must-Have:

  • EU/Italy variant (unlocked, UK ok)
  • SoC: Snapdragon / Exynos / Tensor (preferabily NO MediaTek (unless new Dimensity/Unisoc)
  • eSIM hardware (for Airalo/Saily)
  • NFC + Play Integrity (for banking apps)
  • Battery ≥ 4500 mAh
  • IP67+ (waterproof – rain/snow/mud)
  • Hybrid slot (2x Nano-SIM OR Nano-SIM + microSD) – big plus

Considering:

Model SoC IP eSIM (EU) Hybrid?
Samsung A35 Exynos 1380 IP67 ✅ SM-A356B/DS
Samsung A54 Exynos 1380 IP67 ✅ SM-A546B/DS
Samsung A55 Exynos 1480 IP67 ✅ SM-A556B/DS
Samsung A56 Exynos 1580 IP67 ✅ SM-A566B/DS ❌ (no microSD)
Moto G34 Snapdragon 695 IP52 ⚠️ unclear

Questions:

  1. Which models definitely have eSIM on EU variant?
  2. Any other phones I'm missing?
  3. Cold weather battery tips (0–10°C)?

Current pick: ⭐ Samsung Galaxy A55 5G (~220–240€)

Thanks! 🙏

TL;DR: Need rugged Android <280€ with eSIM, NFC, IP67+, 5000mAh, Snapdragon/Exynos/Tensor, hybrid slot. Leaning toward Samsung A55. Confirm eSIM for EU and suggest alternatives.

I'm struggling to find an Android phone to replace my iPhone

So I have an iPhone 16e and genuinely hate it, and I've decided to try something new and want to switch to Android. I've tried to look for some Android phones but there are WAY TOO MANY options to pick from and it's low-key intimidating.

I’ve looked at phones like the Nothing Phone 3a Pro or whatever they call it and the Xiaomi 17 and other phones like them but some them have specs that simply blew my mind and that I can't even imagine having in an iPhone I decided maybe I should ask the people who use Android since they know what they're talking about.

I want a phone that has a good camera (I'm pretty sure any other phone has a better camera than the iPhone 16e) preferably a telephoto camera bc I know some phones have a macro camera instead I think. I also need a phone that can take pictures in low light since the 16e turns every low-light picture into picture of sludge

While I understand that Androids are known for their customization I would prefer a phone that isn't over the top with it, a phone with a 120hz display, preferably A good battery that compares to or performs better than the 16e’s battery life of 26 hours.  Also, I'm not too picky  about AI while I would like to have it, it's by no means necessary

I also would like a phone that is as powerful or more powerful than the A18 chip that the 16e has and runs well  Looks-wise, for the phone- I'm not too worried about the looks or anything.

My budget is around $800-900 but I'm willing to push to 1,000 if necessary and I'm honestly willing to switch any phone brand as long as it's not a Motorola. I hope I'm not too picky and thank you for your help.

Oh yeah I forgot… I want a nice big one preferably over 6 inches like 6.3-6.5 inches, the best size.

Moving from Non-PTA iPhone 13 Pro to a single PTA daily driver (~120k PKR Budget): S23 vs. Pixel 8 vs. Alternatives?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to simplify my setup and need some brutal, realistic advice on picking my next phone for the next 3–4 years.

Current Situation & Context
Current Phone: iPhone 13 Pro (Non-PTA).

The Problem: The two-phone struggle (iPhone + Jazz Digit hotspot) has become too inconvenient. I want one single, officially PTA-approved device.
Strict Constraints: No Non-PTA, No CPID/patch. Official PTA approval only.

Total Budget: ~120,000 PKR (including the resale value of my iPhone 13 Pro).
My Use Case & Priorities

Longevity & Peace of Mind: Must reliably last 3–4 years with consistent performance.

Camera: Great everyday photography and solid video recording (I shoot occasional product videos for work/projects).

Usage: Normal daily driving — WhatsApp, Google Maps, multitasking, browsing, and calls. Zero gaming.

Battery & Storage: Needs dependable all-day battery efficiency. Storage size isn't critical since I rely heavily on cloud storage.

Options Under Consideration & My Dilemma

  1. Google Pixel 8 (or waiting for 9a)
The Appeal: Love Pixel UI, clean stock software, and still photography.
The Concern: The reports regarding Tensor G3 thermals, battery drain on mobile data, and weak cellular modems worry me, especially on local 4G networks in Pakistan.

  2. Samsung Galaxy S23 (or Base S24)
The Appeal: The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on the S23 is exceptionally efficient, has reliable cellular reception, and offers great video consistency coming from an iPhone.
The Concern: Feels a bit conventional/safe compared to the Pixel's clean aesthetic.

  3. Other Alternatives (Nothing Phone, OnePlus, etc.)
Open to suggestions, though older flagships like the S23 or Pixel 8 seem to offer significantly better camera hardware for product videos.

Questions for the Community:

  1. Pixel 8 owners in Pakistan: How has your real-world experience been with 4G cellular reception, thermals, and battery longevity?
  2. Coming from an iPhone 13 Pro, is the S23 a noticeably better choice for video and peace of mind compared to the Pixel 8?
  3. Given a strict 120k PKR budget and a 3–4 year timeline, what would you honestly get in my position?
  4. What about pixel 9a or 10a considering the risks
Thanks in advance for your insights!

I love the reliability these Chinese phones bring with them, but they are inherently not that attractive for me.

Girlfriend switching from an iPhone 12 mini to Android.

My girlfriend wants to switch to Android after having had an IPhone 12 mini for years. She's the average user basically. The only thing she cares about is that the phone should be small since she has small hands. That's why she stuck to the iPhone 12 mini. From what I see on the market, there are no small phones unfortunately and I would never get her a flip phone since they suck by nature. From what I understand, since the batteries are going bigger and bigger, there's no way the phones can stay small.

From a technical pov, I'd want to get her something with a Snapdragon on it cuz I don't want the phone to get slow throughout the years. And preferably, the more durable and protected the phone is the better (so like I wouldn't want curved edges or sth) All else doesn't matter to me much since everything falls into place with modern phones. Pretty much all of them have good cameras, enough storage and Ram, and whatever the average user needs.

I myself am a huge fan of Vivo, Oppo and Oneplus phones. Oneplus 15 is definitely on the list since I myself own an OP 12.But I thought I come here and see what you guys think.

Our budget is maximum 700 euroes (a little more if it's worth it). We're in Europe.

Also, is tradingshenzhen.com trust worthy? Is there anything I should know about them?
