Feels like there are no good phones this year

Hi all, I switched from an iPhone XR to a OnePlus 11 in 2023 after years of complaining about being an Apple customer. I had tried several Samsung phones over the years and thought I did not like Android, but it turns out I just do not like Samsung.

I had been waiting for the OnePlus Open 2, or hoping the OnePlus 15 would finally deliver an elite camera system, but I have pretty much given up, especially with OnePlus seemingly pulling out of the North American market.

I buy my phones outright and just need them to work on Verizon in the U.S. I am not looking for carrier deals.

What I really want this year is the best possible combination of elite battery life, fast charging, and an elite camera. I do not care about wireless charging.

It seems like every manufacturer this year is either keeping the most interesting models out of North America or only offering mid-range phones with major compromises. I assume tariffs are part of that, but either way, the U.S. options feel pretty disappointing. A year or two ago the phone I'm looking for would probably have been the OnePlus 13 or OnePlus Open, I'm not seeing an obvious successor in 2026 (OP15 opted for that major compromise path).

s23 ultra or nothing phone 3a?

Both are priced at $400,The Samsung has a little more storage (256), I'm looking for something powerful enough to last for years, but also stable and with a decent to good camera. I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I want Camera + Battery. Poco X8 Pro Max or Nothing 3 ( Amazon) or 1+ Nord 6 ( 9000 mah)

I love clicking pictures. Had the pixel 7A horrible battery. So I have that battery anxiety.

Someone told me that the nothing phone sold on Amazon are not genuine and they are not verified so I should not buy them. Please tell me if it is true or not. If not, which other phone I should go in the same price?

In Flipkart the prices outreaches and is not advisable to buy. Of course. The other phone I had been considering was Vivo

X200 T but it's 10k Outta budget.

Help me please.

I need good camera and battery

Best smartphone under ₹25,000 with balanced camera and performance?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to buy a new smartphone with a budget of around ₹25,000 in India.

My priorities are:

  • Balanced camera performance (good photos and videos in both daylight and low light)
  • Smooth day-to-day performance
  • Good for college use, social media, media consumption, and casual gaming
  • Decent battery life
  • Reliable software experience with regular updates

I am not a heavy gamer, so I don't need the absolute highest benchmark scores. I would prefer a phone that offers a good balance between camera quality and performance rather than focusing only on one aspect.

Current options I'm considering:

  • Nothing Phone (3a)
  • IQOO Z10R
  • Poco x7 pro (But camera is not that good)
  • Any other suggestions

For those who have used these phones, which one would you recommend and why? Also, are there any upcoming launches that I should wait for?

Thanks!

Looking for a little privacy but Graphene OS seemd like overkill

Basically I want to not have nanobanana looking at my photos and AI reading my keystrokes, but I'm also not super tech savvy so I'm hoping for a phone that i don't have to do much to out of the box for a little privacy... i dont particularly care about price range as long as it's not over $2k USD.

Also yes i know that features can be turned off, but i dont want them in the first place. If AI was more like it used to be and just a personal assistant i would be all about it, but i have serious gripes about the data mining that is being done.

Making the swap

Hello! I’m looking to swap from my iPhone to an android.

I currently have an IPhone 16 pro. I’m happy with the dimensions and cameras but I’m tired of my phone dying all the time. I don’t use it much but without a midday charge it won’t last a full day.
I’m tired of paying top dollar for an average phone that starts dying whenever the next model comes out, so I’m looking to swap to an android that has good battery, similar dimensions (maybe on the bigger side) and generally good UI (one thing i believe Apple actually does well)

Any suggestions? I’m open to ordering from some of the foreign phone companies as well like Xiaomi, Oppo, or OnePlus too.

Upgrading from a slow Redmi Note 10: Need a mid-ranger that stays smooth for 4+ years

Hey everyone, I’m looking to upgrade because my current phone (Redmi Note 10 5G, about 3 - 4 years old) has become incredibly slow and frustrating to use. I’d honestly keep it if it weren't for the lag, but it's getting unbearable. Storage isn't the issue, I've used 88GB out of 128GB, so I'm not running out of space.

I considered doing a factory reset, but I feel like that would only buy me a couple of extra months before I'd have to replace it anyway. So, I'd rather just change it now.

I've been looking at the Nothing Phone 4a Plus, OnePlus Nord CE5 5G, Poco X8 Pro, and a few mid range Realme models. I've watched tons of comparisons and read so many reviews that I actually feel more lost than when I started. I was leaning toward the OnePlus Nord CE5, or even CE6, but I noticed they only offer 2 years of software updates, which put me off.

Just to give you some context: I don't play games at all. My usage is pretty basic (social media, youtube, streaming, news, online shopping, and daily apps). I don't need the best camera for a mid range, I just don't want it to be worse than my current one. Battery life isn't a dealbreaker either, I'm used to charging once or twice a day, and that's fine.

My absolute top priority is longevity. I don't care about having the newest features with every update, I just want a phone that won't slow down out of nowhere after 3 or 4 years. And of course, I don't want to spend a fortune to get that.

With all that said, what phone should I actually buy? I'm open to models outside the ones I mentioned. Thanks so much for reading, and sorry for yet another post about what phone to buy.

Need suggestions for a new Android phone around ₹50–60k in India. The more I research, the more confused I get.

I'm looking to buy a new phone in the ₹50–60k range in India, and I could really use some advice.

I'm not a huge tech person. I've been using a Samsung Note 20 for the last few years, and it's finally started having issues, so I think it's time for an upgrade.

The problem is that the more I research, the more confused I get. Every phone seems to have some issue according to reviews or Reddit posts.

Here's what I've come across:

OnePlus 13 – I read rumors that OnePlus might be reducing its presence in India, and people were saying that service centers could become an issue. I also read that they're merging more closely with Oppo, but opinions seem divided on whether that's actually a good thing.

Samsung S25 – I've seen people complain about battery life, and there are quite a few posts calling Samsung "Scamsung," which has made me skeptical.

Nothing Phone – Saw several posts mentioning overheating issues.

Google Pixel – Also came across complaints about heating and battery life.

At this point, I honestly don't know what to believe.

I don't want to switch to iPhone/iOS. I don't play games at all. My usage is mostly:

YouTube

Social media

Camera (I like taking good photos)

Notes and productivity apps

General day-to-day use

A good battery life is important to me, and I want a phone that will last me 4–5 years without major headaches.

So, based on actual long-term experience rather than specs on paper, what would you recommend around ₹50–60k? Are the issues I mentioned actually common, or are they just the usual Reddit negativity where people mostly post when something goes wrong?

I'd really appreciate your suggestions because I'm genuinely overwhelmed at this point. Thanks!

Need suggestions

I'm from India and need some help from this community. I'm planning to change my phone. Right now I'm using poco f4 which has 6/128. I have been using this phone for the last 4 years. Till now no issue, all going good.

What I want in a new phone: I want a similar or better clock speed that is the primary objective for me. The camera is secondary but at least 40mp is the minimum criteria for me. Ram should be minimum 8gb, 128gb storage I'm good. I do have drive access so storage will never be a problem for me.

So please start your suggestion. I tried to find similar phone and there are one two phone I found Worthy one is poco X7 pro and another one is oneplus nord ce5. But I want actual user reviews on this 2 phone also. This will help to understand better.

Help me decide! Need a good and simple phone

Hi there! I'm looking for a good camera phone which makes as less post processing as possible.

My requirements:

Flat screen

All day batterry life

Camera- natural looking pics with many details, no overprocessing

UI- clean UI which not uses all the RAM to process android skin

Good screen, at least 120hz and 1080resoltunion and at least 480 pwm dimming

Size - 6,3 - 6,7 inch screen or bigger if camera is really good

I was considering vivo x300 pro/ ultra but don't know what ti expect since I haven't keep that brand's phone in my hands.

Oppo find x9 ultra or pro I saw a lot of good photos but not sure about the processing

Sony Xperia 1 VIII I loved everything about the camera but the phone itself seems to have so many compromises and the price is very high, difficult to find a case etc.

Pixel phones: but I read that they add AI processing drastically

I like street photography and take pictures of my cat and random moments😂 Hi there! I'm looking for a good camera phone which makes as less post processing as possible.

Best phone to buy under 35k - 40k? Considering Nothing Phone 3 with card offers.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to buy a new smartphone in India with a budget between ₹35,000 and ₹40,000.

I recently came across the Nothing Phone 3, which usually retails a bit higher, but with credit card discounts, I can grab it for around ₹39,000. Before I pull the trigger, I wanted to get some expert opinions or thoughts from people who actually own it or have researched this segment.

My question:

Is the Nothing Phone 3 the absolute best choice at ₹39k, or should I look at other current options like the OnePlus Nord 6, iQOO Neo 10, or Motorola Edge 70 Pro in this exact price bracket?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

My priorities:

Smooth software & clean UI / Great camera performance / Solid battery for day to day use.

Good long-term software support.

Value for money.

Skeptical about getting a OnePlus phone , any advice/reccomendation?

I'm not the type of guy who buys a phone every 1–2 years, so buying a phone is a huge investment for me. As of now, I own a Redmi 8 that I've had since quarantine. It's laggy, the screen is broken, but I still use it. I think it's finally time to buy a new phone, and since it's such a big jump, I really think about every little detail when researching one.

I'm not really a mobile gamer. My goal is to have a phone that is durable, smooth, stable, and free of lag or bugs for 3–4 years. I want it to feel the same when using apps like Instagram on day one as it does three years later.

To be clear, I'm looking for a phone that costs around $150–200. At first, I thought about getting the Google Pixel 7, but then I heard it has major heating issues, which I don't like. Samsung doesn't really know how to make good low-end devices. I also feel like Realme and Infinix aren't very durable and are mainly focused on cheap gaming phones (for example, the Infinix Hot 60i and Realme C75). I've never actually used phones from those companies—it's just the impression I've gotten from what I've seen across the internet.

Then I came across OnePlus. At first, I thought it was just another cheap gaming phone. When I saw its specifications, I assumed it probably used lower-quality RAM and a battery crammed into a small device that wouldn't last more than a year. But after researching more, I found that the cameras are great, the user experience is excellent, and overall the phones seem to be very good. I'm mainly talking about the OnePlus 11R, 11, and 12R.

Now, the things that make me skeptical and paranoid are:

  1. The green line issue. I don't know if it's actually OnePlus's fault or if it's caused by users being careless. I can't imagine buying a phone expecting it to last four years, only to get a green line after a month.
  2. Software support (OxygenOS). I'm worried about it eventually being discontinued because I don't know if it's smart to buy a phone with software that isn't controlled by a larger company. On the other hand, I'm still using my Redmi 8, which doesn't even have HyperOS, so maybe it isn't that big of a deal.
  3. The lack of OnePlus services in my country, and the fact that OnePlus mainly focuses on India and China.

So, do you think I can buy a OnePlus phone (11R, 11, or 12R) today and expect it to stay smooth and durable for years without green line issues or noticeable lag? Or do you think I should choose another brand like OPPO, Vivo, HONOR, or Xiaomi? One thing to note is that phones from those brands with similar specifications to the OnePlus 11 are usually more expensive.

I don't mind if you recommend a Samsung, Google, or any other brand. I just want you to explain the details, why I should choose one over another, and if you have an opinion that could change my perspective on the things I'm worried about. I'd really like to feel confident before buying a OnePlus phone.

Also you can ask me more about my preferences since i havent said much , and i would also love to .

Recommend phone

So, I've been using the same Xiaomi Mi 9 for the last 7 years and am finally deciding to buy a new one (it's still working fine, the battery just can't last for the full day). I use it only for YouTube and reading stuff, so I don't care that much about cpu/gpu, memory and camera. Because I don't require any specs, It's hard to decide, and I also don't really want the cheapest one (nor the most expensive). So here I am asking for any recommendations for a good phone.

Student looking for a flagship for photography & media (S25U/S26U vs. Pixel 10 Pro vs. OP15 vs. iPhone 17). What's the move?

Hey everyone,

I’m a student looking to upgrade my daily driver. I have a very specific set of non-negotiables, mostly centered around a clean Android experience and heavy media/photography use.

My Non-Negotiables:

The Vibe: Must have a premium design and great battery life to clear a full day of student use.

Media: An elite display (top-tier color range, great anti-reflection) and excellent Dolby Atmos speakers for content watching.

Photography: I love taking still photos (street photography, landscapes, random snaps). I don't care about video.

Software Bias: No iOS (can't stand the restrictive file system) and no typical Chinese OS skins (lack that premium feel). My favorite software experiences are Samsung One UI, Google’s Pixel UI, and OnePlus OxygenOS.

The Options I'm Considering:

  1. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra / S26 Ultra

  2. Google Pixel 10 Pro

3.OnePlus 15

  1. iPhone 17 / 17 Pro / 17 Base(still keeping these for awesome hardwares)

Phone recs for long time Galaxy user

I've been a Galaxy user since the s6. I currently have the s22 Ultra and I'm the kind of user that only upgrades because my phone is no longer usable. That being said, I'm coming up on the time to upgrade my phone and I'm curious if I should try something new. I LOVE my S-pen, camera, and customization options so those specs have to match or exceed what I can get from Samsung! I'm in the US!
