PickAnAndroidForMe - new and nice or save half?

As title says.

Have an S20 Ultra right now. Maybe a bit big. But ok. Really, really liked it. No more updates. Changed back cover already 3x (once myself). Always get dust on the lens. So. Slowly time to get a new one? Can see it on the pictures, a bit of dust, hazy.

So either something fancy, as in: really nice feel, (very) good camera, such as

  1. Pixel 10 pro

  2. Oppo find x9 pro

  3. Oneplus 15

Or something way cheaper such as

  1. Moto edge 70

  2. Used Pixel 9

  3. Used S25 or similar

I guess the question is: I do not need a faster phone. This one is great. I don't game. I want 120Hz for the feel. A battery that lasts one day. And a good (as in not dusty) camera. Maybe avoid 2nd hand, to avoid battery already old so potentially having to replace it in a few years and have dust problems again?

Any input is appreciated!

Could I please have some help picking a mid range phone in the UK

I’m looking for a midrange android phone, I’m in the UK so I’ll be purchasing from Amazon/Very/Catalogs/Argos/Currys etc
I would be thankful if someone can give me recommendations as I’ve never had an android before. I currently have a iPhone 14pro & plan to use both phones daily and might switch to using the android instead more.

I’m looking for:
-Longevity as the phone will hopefully be used for a few years.
-Good connectivity as I’ll be outside in rural areas once a week or so
-Lag free while browsing social media + shopping apps + internet (I browse a awful lot)
-Pay with phone
-good security as I’ll have banking apps on it
-Usable camera, I’ll mostly use it for photos of my dogs or if I see something I want to search/show others

I have tried to do research but it’s confusing even when I ask AI - Someone told me get a pixel 10A but then others say they overheat and I’ll never have signal or battery life.
Some say get a honor x6c while others say avoid honor.

Please can I have some light

Long-Time Samsung User Finally Switching to OPPO Because of Battery Anxiety

I was a Samsung fanboy for YEARS and I’m finally done.

I owned 4 Samsung phones total — 3 midrange devices and finally 1 S series flagship because I thought “okay maybe the flagship experience is where Samsung really shines.”

Big mistake.

Even after having 3 Samsung phones previously suffer hardware failures and quality issues, I still kept defending the brand to friends and family. I literally built a full Samsung ecosystem around myself:

  • Samsung TV
  • Samsung fridge
  • Samsung AC
  • Galaxy Buds
  • Samsung tablet
  • Samsung phones for years

I recommended Samsung to almost everyone around me because I genuinely believed they made the best Android experience.

But after using the S series for 2 years, Samsung finally showed its true colors to me.

Battery anxiety EVERY SINGLE DAY.

What’s the point of all these “premium flagship features” if I have to:

  • disable AOD,
  • reduce brightness,
  • turn on battery saver,
  • worry about charging,
  • avoid using camera/navigation too much, just to survive the day?

That’s not a flagship experience.

At some point I realized I was using my phone based on battery percentage instead of my actual needs.

And the worst part? Samsung keeps COPYING Apple in the worst ways possible instead of being the old Samsung that used to challenge Apple.

Earlier Samsung used to:

  • experiment,
  • innovate,
  • push hardware,
  • take risks.

Now every year feels like:
“same phone, new color, slightly better AI marketing.”

Meanwhile brands like OPPO and Vivo are literally taking the BEST ideas from both Apple and Samsung and turning them into features that actually help daily users:

  • huge batteries,
  • insanely fast charging,
  • better thermals,
  • polished animations,
  • strong hardware,
  • practical features.

And honestly? As a customer I DON’T CARE who copied who if the final experience is better for daily use.

At least those brands are trying to solve real problems users face.

Samsung keeps giving:

  • tiny batteries for the price,
  • boring UI design,
  • updates that sometimes make phones feel worse,
  • hardware compromises,
  • overheating,
  • battery drain.

Yes, One UI has Good Lock and customization. Great.
But what’s the point of all those features if I constantly need battery saver mode to comfortably use the phone?

At least Apple with smaller batteries has insane optimization and top-tier animations.
Samsung with “Snapdragon for Galaxy” still disappoints in battery consistency compared to what Chinese flagships are doing now.

And before people call me a hater:
I was probably one of Samsung’s biggest defenders for years.

Not anymore.

At least 5–6 future Samsung customers are gone permanently because of my experience alone. I no longer recommend Samsung to friends or family.

I’m switching to an OPPO flagship because honestly the hardware experience today feels more practical and user-focused.

And no, I’m not switching to iPhone either until iOS gets basic useful things like proper codec support (seriously Apple, add LDAC already).

If somehow Samsung developers ever read posts like this:
PLEASE stop trying to become Apple.

Go back to being Samsung.

Entonces… ¿qué debería hacer? ¿Valdría la pena ir por el Pixel 9a?

Upgrading from a s22 ultra

Im looking to finally upgrade from my s22 ultra after 4 years. The battery just isnt staying and it has stopped reading my Sim card (verizon) I am between a 26 ultra or a standard s26 (finances ya know). Cause the main difference im seeing between the s26 and ultra are thr camera and screen size, not sure if im missing something. Is it a large gap between the 2? I do a decent amount of gaming, but nothing to intense (ball x pit, board games, sea of stars, occasional genshin/games like genshin). Would i be better off saving for the ultra or would the standard be fine?

Also not opposed to different brands of phone either like the OPPOs, google pixels, or anything else yall recommend. Thank you so much in advanced everyone.

S25+ (₹57k) vs S26 vs iPhone 17 vs Oppo Find X9 at same price (₹58K) – need advice D

# Hey ppl,

I’m stuck deciding between the Samsung S25+, S26, iPhone 17 and Oppo FInd x9 — I’m getting for around ₹70K, so price isn’t really a factor.

A bit about me:

\- I’ve used androids in the past (Samsung A53, Oneplus 11r)

\- Currently daily driving a iPhone 12

\- I’m not a mobile gamer

\- I usually keep my phones for a long time (3–5 years)

What I care about:

\- Smooth daily performance over time (no lag after 1–2 years)

\- Good battery life

\- Reliable camera performance (after 2 years)

\- Good photos with Good video quality(used to shoot edit videos).

\- Long-term reliability

I’m confused because:

\- Android gives flexibility, but I don’t want bugs/slowdowns like Oxygen OS

\- iPhone is reliable, but feels restrictive sometimes

From what I’ve seen:

\- S25+, S26 has more RAM (12GB) and bigger battery

\- iPhone 17 seems more optimized and stable long-term.

\-Camera of Oppo has better camera than others but gets degraded after updates and video quality is bad

Given I plan to use the phone for many years,

which one would you pick and why?

Would really appreciate real-world experiences 🙌

Edit 1: These prices are with exchange

smart phone suggestion -40-50/K

Hi friends,

I'm looking for a good smart phone with a good UI and Camera which I can use for the next 4-5 years. I have been looking at Vivo x300, Oppo find x9, Nothing 3( mainly for UI)

I'm just worried because I have never used oppo or vivo in my life, I'm currently using One Plus Nord CE3, and would like to prefer the same UI and cannot buy OnePlus because of the camerass

Please help with suggestions, I'm happy to go with Nothing 3, however how good is the camera, because i have seen some portrait shots which really seems to be pale and off.

Another issue that I have noted with Oppo find x9 is that whenever we take a picture with high contrast like Red, orange it will increase the contrast.

Really really really confused

Which flagship Chinese phone doesn't have a UI that's a straight 1:1 iOS replica?

I use a Motorola phone that, even though it's close to stock Android, still has its own identity and design language on the latest Android versions. Recently I saw someone at university using an Honor tablet, it's software, icons, animations everything was a copy of Apple’s stuff. Even if the hardware is good, I’d be way too embarrassed to actually use it. Between Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Realme, etc., can anyone recommend one or two brands that don’t do this heavy iOS imitation?

Need a phone with great camera for social media (€500 budget)

Hey everyone,

I’m from Belgium and I’m looking for a phone around €500 mainly for social media content, Instagram/TikTok posts and videos.

Camera quality is the most important thing for me, especially video quality and good quality in low light. Battery life and smooth performance would also be nice.

I don’t really know much about phones so sorry if €500 is considered a low budget 😅

What phone would you recommend right now?

Thanks!

Best performance at the lowest price.

I'm trying to find the best phone performance wise for the lowest price. Right now, my pick would be the Nubia RedMagic 11 Air. It has a SnapDragon 8 Elite and 16gb of ram for 870$ cad.

Any other phone can compete with those performance around that price?

Switching from android to ios (or vice versa)

Just genuinely curious y'all

I've seen other people who's really used to androids suddenly shift to Iphones, the first time I saw it I wasn't surprised, but now it's the third time I've seen a friend buy an iphone.

Though others say that androids are still better

Anyways, my current phone is a Realme X3 superzoom, but I plan to leave Realme when I get enough budget for a new phone. What do y'all suggest that's good both camera-wise and gaming?

Looking for an Android phone for my aunt in Italy (€200-€400) - 512GB storage preferred

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on buying a new smartphone for my aunt. We are based in Italy, so the phone needs to be officially available on the Italian/European market.

Here are her main requirements and what she needs most:

OS: Strictly Android.

Budget: Between €200 and €400 max. Maybe a little more if we find the perfect fit that has a life span of 4 or more years.

Storage: Ideally 512GB of internal memory (she takes a ton of photos and videos of her nephews and never clears her space, so this would be a massive plus to keep things future-proof).

Camera: A good, reliable camera for everyday shots.

Battery: Good battery life (autonomy) that can easily last a full day or more of standard usage.

She isn't a power user or a gamer, but she needs something smooth, reliable, and with plenty of space so she doesn't get those annoying "storage full" warnings after a year.

Do you have any specific recommendations that fit this price range and specs available in Italy? Thanks in advance for the help!

Phone with a decent camera under $400?

I've been using Poco X3 since 2020, and it's kind of falling apart at this point.

I'm looking to switch phones but my budget is a bit tight, around 100K PKR (~360$).

I'm not very knowledgeable about phones, but the main things I think I care about are storage and camera quality. I thought the X3 camera was pretty nice when I first got it, but it has gotten worse with time. Also, I've been occasionally borrowing my brother's Samsung S25 Ultra for photos, which has made me greedy. </3

I would really appreciate any recommendations within my budget. Thank you!

Looking for a phone on the 600-700€ range with a decent camera set

I'm currently aiming at either the Xiaomi 15T Pro or the Xiaomi 17. Don't know which one to go for.

My focus is on the camera, the build and screen quality. Battery life is also a plus, but as long as I don't have to charge the phone by dinner time, I'm fine with it.

For around 600-700€, do I have better choices?

Help me avoid buyer's regret: S25 vs S23 Ultra vs Pixel vs Xperia under ¥75,000 (~$500 USD)?

Looking for a used phone (A-rank condition, around ¥75,000 (~$500 USD) max).

Current setup:

Sony ZV-1

Samsung Tab S9 FE

Windows laptop

Sony LinkBuds

Heavy ChatGPT + Gemini user

Manage social media (TikTok/IG/Shorts)

Sometimes use my phone for school/work tasks

Small hands → one-hand use matters

Need good cameras + AI + productivity

Want to keep it for 2–3 years

Considering:

Galaxy S25

Galaxy S23 Ultra

Xperia 1 V / VI

Pixel 8 Pro / 9 Pro

Used iPhone options

Since I already own a Sony ZV-1, does Xperia still make sense or should I go Pixel/Samsung?

Open to other recommendations too.
