Torso, chest, armpit, upper arm, back and groin rash. PLEASE HELP

Healthy 29 year old female. Don’t smoke, occasionally drink alcohol. Exercise, eat a clean and varied diet with whole foods, drink plenty of water, no ailments. Located in Northern British Columbia.

Duration:
- wide spread rash has been present since 7th August, has progressively gotten worse since then.
-the larger red scaly/scabby spots began the first week of July. #1 first looked like a bug bite and then went pimply/scaly. 2 weeks later, #2 turned up between my breasts - initially as a tiny pimple and then developed into the red scab/rash, #3 turned up a few days after #2, also looked like a pimple to start, and then progressively worsened into a pimply/scaly spot.

On the 3rd August I started taking Nitrofurantoin for a UTI. I have not taken this medication before. On the 7th August, 4 days after taking it, I started to develop a widespread rash on my stomach, underarms, chest and back - this has progressively worsened since the 7th August, becoming more red with larger spots. I ceased taking the Nitrofurantoin when the rash developed on the 7th August.

It is very rarely itchy. Itches more after a shower, but nothing crazy. It is not painful.

I went to the ER and they prescribed me Bactrim since I had MRSA when I was a teenager, and he thought it could possibly be a staph rash. I am currently on day 3 of Bactrim.

Sudocream seems to help improve them.

I had a fungal rash in my armpits in April/May that was completely resolved using oral Fluconazole and topical Clotrimazole cream.

I had an online appointment with a dermatologist, and they told me they were unable to diagnose me online. They prescribed me Betaderm Cream 0.1%. I have not yet started using this.

I am trying to get an in person appointment with a dermatologist.

Has anybody else had something similar happen?

Any ideas on what this may be?

Things I have thought it might be:
- Pityriasis Rosea
- Molluscum Contagiosum
- Guttate Psoriasis
- Nummular Eczema
-Granuloma Annulare
- Staph Folliculitis
- Erythema multiforme
-Drug reaction to Nitrofurantoin

Please help 🙏🏻

Help! Anyone experienced PR lasting 5 months and still spreading?

My 11 year old developed several circular patches on his neck start of April. I thought it was ring worm and used clotrimazole but the patches got bigger and became flaky. A few weeks later more patches appeared on his neck and face. At this point we seen the GP and they weren't sure if ring worm or PR but said unusual distribution for PR. Anyway we've went through 2 more anti fungal creams. Some patches have gone but new ones keep appearing. There are now patches on his arms today too. Please help, has anyone been through this? I'm seriously doubting if this is PR and terrified what else it might be. GP has referred to dermatology but our appointment isn't until December.

Ringworm or pityriasis rosea? Or something else?

I’ve had this rash for almost a month now. It started as one large-ish spot on my side, then a small spot on my rib, then it really colonised my breasts 😭

I was swimming in the sea a lot and frequenting an outdoor bathing area, not washing my towel regularly enough, wearing the same bathing suit, etc. Definitely not being smart with hygiene. Plus it’s been a heat wave and super humid.

I had ringworm as a child and this originally did not present to me as ringworm, it wasn’t nearly as itchy or red, which is why I wasn’t concerned when I first saw it.

The rash on my breasts started as a few spots and as you can see has grown to these large splotches with tons of little baby spots spreading around. I have a few in the bikini line area as well. They are mildly itchy but honestly I’m not having a hard time avoiding scratching at all.

As for treatment, I’ve been using OTC creams like Canesten and Daktarin for a few weeks now. I’ve also gotten the Daktarin powder, which was recommended to dry it out. I also got Nizoral, the anti-fungal shampoo to use as body wash.

It wasn’t improving so I went to the doc and got on Fungasil, one of those liver-damaging oral tablets. I’ve been on that 2 weeks now. It’s still here and after a humid day last week, still spreading?

I’m starting to think it’s not fungal, not ringworm. People on reddit seem to suggest ringworm can be confused for pityriasis rosea.

Could it be that instead?

TL;DR: Rash for over a month, assumed ringworm, OTC anti-fungal creams/powders not working, taking daily oral Fungasil tablet for 2 weeks now (1 month prescription) and it’s not going away. Could it be pityriasis rosea or something else?

New stomach skin rash.. help!?

50 yrs old, Female, Immunocompromised, Been battling 7 months in bed, 3 dermatologists that broke me down. Started with dry eyes, demodex blepharitis, full blown demodicosis, to now hair loss, things biting me bad, go through different rash/mite phases. These pictures are most concerning. They are new on my stomach ( entire body's broken out) but these bumps are new. Im in a flare up now so my big bag dance parry hairs are going off, my ears are burning and bright red, my eyes and mouth so dry. I checked for bed bugs. Could this be something else... ive researched a lot about scabies but dont think k so??? Morgallons 1000% and on fire because of the flare up kicking in. My scalp has malezzia and ive tried everything. Everything ive read about shingles well the newer stomach rash doesn't hurt. My entire body is on fire in pain, head itching like crazy, fibers are breaking out, my face is absolutely wrecked with inflammation and mass break out.

Coming out of my eyes, ears, bellybutton, completely covered head to toe inside and out. Don't sleep.average 3 nights a week. I will NOT go back to a dermatologist- unbelievable, gaslighting, demeaning, never even used a derma scope, all but psychiatric... They're awful, just to save face.... while laid up in bed 7 months in horror.

Please will anyone weigh in on thus new stomach rash? Thank you!

Diagnosed as pityriasis rosea by dermatologist

Hi all, I got my first herald patch at August 1, today is 17 of August. At day 7 I got Diagnosed by a dermatologist. My current form is like this. It looks pretty bad as it is…

Photos are last to beginning.

I don't reallly know how far it is going to spread. Also last night I woke up because of itching... Yesterday I did sunbath at 14:00 ish and tried to keep it short like 8 min. Maybe that burned my skin since its sensitive. I'll try to sunbath early like 11 am or 15:30 pm.

Help please ?is it Pityriasis rosea

Like on 2026 , aug 1st I have on my 3rd of period and felt icthy in the groin area , and checked then it lookked one big patch and smaller others around . Later I thought I googled and searched and used clotrimazole cream thinking it as tinea for 5 days i could not any improvement. Then I stopped for few days still no improvement. I went dermatologist after 2 weeks and it's spreaded to abdomen and thighs and all. The dermo checked and might be tinea crusis and given luliconazole cream and itraconazole tablets to use which 100mg 2 times a day mrng and night' I have been using it for 3 days now . I could not see much improvement.

I thinking of the other possibilities it is PR .

Please help me I am freaked out and stressed. My mental health is gone completely .

Possible pityriasis rosea?

Hi all!

I’m looking for some advice

I’ve had this rash for 5 days now and I’m so uncomfortable and itchy 😭 I’ve seen 2 doctors. First said it could be heat rash or hand foot and mouth? Second says it looks like pityriasis rosea?

I’ve been prescribed a steroid cream and a strong anti histamine. The cream helps for an hour then it’s just as bad again. At the moment it’s both feet, both forearms and elbows, behind both legs and thighs. It’s slowly spreading 😔

Any advice is welcome to help! I feel miserable.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who has had these lovely little roseas for 8 months

After two viral infections and a pretty stressful period, I developed one large patch on my back. I thought it would go away on its own… but nope. It slowly spread to my buttocks, stomach, armpits, groin, and now even my leg.

My skin used to be super clear and pale, and now I have so much pigmentation/discoloration left behind that I barely recognize my skin anymore.

I’ve seen several doctors and, of course, everyone had a different theory: pityriasis rosea, fungal infection, post-inflammatory pigmentation… I’ve tried different treatments, including pigmentation treatments. At one point I thought the color was finally starting to fade, but unfortunately it didn’t really improve.

And today I noticed new spots spreading onto my leg. 🥲

I’m honestly exhausted and just want to figure out what this is.

If you’ve had something similar, what actually helped you? Was there a treatment, product, test, or even a tiny thing that made a difference for you?

At this point I’m open to hearing everything 😭❤️
Please tell me I’m not the only one going through this.

Alguém pode me orientar…

11 weeks in and still have patches. What is going on?

23M. So I first noticed it on my back after Memorial Day Weekend (I was wrestling my buddy in recently pesticide treated wet grass and got tons of micro-cuts all on my back, which turned to itching, which developed into PR. Just an aside, though my derm says it’s not noteworthy, but I have to imagine there’s some correlation).

It’s obviously 11 weeks on now, and while it’s largely faded from my back (flared up again last week even though I cooked my back in the sun the week before), it’s still lingering on my triceps and my legs/feet look like I have ringworm all over them still.

I don’t know if it’s worth another dermatologist visit— I’ve hardly seen anything online about getting it on the legs and feet, which I didn’t really notice when I first saw my derm, but I’m wondering if anyone else here has experience this? I think I’m almost out of the woods but a flare up again last week coupled with how long it’s taken to recover makes me wonder if it’s worthwhile.

And as a lurker in this sub all summer now posting, let me just vent and say this shit fucking SUCKS. And what a shitty time of year! I worked hard all year in the gym just to look like a leper with shirt off. In the least douchey way possible, it’s been such a nightmare having to explain to girls why I’m covered in fucking ringworm when they wake up and see me shirtless. And I train BJJ, which has been so so awkward to explain to people at my gym especially since people in the sport have zero tolerance for any skin conditions, especially ringworm! The constant itching, the stress and anxiety of taking my shirt off… and not being able to do anything about it other than rub some medical grade cortisone cream on it. It’s been brutal. Everyone thinks you’re gross and even when you tell them it’s not contagious yada yada, they still couldn’t give a shit. It’s horrible. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy!!!!

Potential herald patch near armpit fold?

Hi all. I started noticing this patch and a few spots above my chest recently. Does it look like the beginning of PR?

u/thedentalarcade — 9 days ago

Fobbed off and told I’ve got ringworm without proper assessment

It’s been 2 months as of yesterday that I found the herald patch on my back, it’s since grown triple the size it initially was and has slowly started to fade. My stomach and sides are covered in lesions that started off as pinprick spots around 2/3 weeks after finding the herald patch and have since grown larger. I seem to be developing the patches in crops every 1 1/2 - 2 weeks. Not itchy at all except after a hot gym session and even then it’s minimal. I went to the GP today as over the last 2-3 days I’ve noticed small scaly patches now appearing on my arms & legs (only a few). Given all of this info, she didn’t even look at my stomach, took 1 look at the herald patch and told me it was ringworm. After I explained the timeline matches PR exactly (felt run down, herald patch a week later, few spots appearing a few weeks after that etc) and I would rather be tested first to confirm before jumping into an antifungal treatment that I have to pay for & considering it’s been 2 months already. She told me I was wrong, it can’t be PR because that only appears on the upper back & chest(?) which after 2 months of extensive research I know is completely wrong. Just at my wits end with it all and today she really put the nail in the coffin. It’s the middle of summer and Ive had to be so cautious about what I wear, now having to cover my arms and legs because it’s spreading. I got the antifungal cream anyway because she was so insistent but I’m 99% sure it’s going to be useless, no idea how to go about getting a derm appointment

need help diagnosing

hi all! i blurred my eyes in these pictures because they are so unflattering but i have to show my face to be diagnosed 😭 forgive me.

i’ve been an eczema and sensitive skin girlie my whole life, but usually my wrists, behind knees, and legs. occasionally i’ll get inflamed eyelids but hydrocortisone and some vaseline usually keeps it in check-ish.

but around june of this year something weird happened where i got little red, burning splotches around my mouth and on a mole on my forehead, accompanied by horrific eyelid swelling and crusting. my derm prescribed me hydrocortisone which i applied for the next 2ish weeks, but my eyelid remained inflamed, and the red splotches traveled everywhere on my face. i got huge splotches on my neck, a big one on my cheek, edges of my nose, a few splotches on my forehead, the ones around my mouth still there and more, my chin, and my nasal labial folds next to my mouth were so so tight and burning.

i eliminated everything including the hydrocortisone. i already use gentle products since im a sensitive skin girlie, but i stripped my regiment down to cetaphil cleanser, vanicream for moisture, unscented baby body wash for my body and hair! no makeup, no sunscreen, just a hat and barely going outside. it stayed the same if not got worse over 1.5 weeks.

I requested an immediate appointment w my derm and she prescribed me Opzelura cream but i am so convinced at this point that it is a fungal or bacterial or yeast issue that i denied the cream and requested to consider seb derm and she said ok, it could be and prescribed me sulfacetamide and sulfur cleanser.

i used that sulfur wash and the next day my symptoms felt and looked better, but i still wanted a second opinion from another derm. so i went to another derm and she said it could be atopic derm or seb derm and said i should use the wash and then she prescribed me desonide for my face and tacrolimus for my eyelid. i was a little hesitant but a second derm telling me that made me reconsider, maybe i needed a different steroid cream.

well, after doing the sulfur wash and then putting the smallest amount of those two steroid creams on my face, i woke up with angry skin again. i am so, so at a loss and it’s so annoying that eczema and bacterial skin stuff have opposing solutions that can trigger the other. the picture attached is from this morning with new inflammation, but in the same old spots. and then i attached a picture of what the flaking on my mole looked like 2 days ago to see if that is seb derm criteria.

has anyone dealt with this? it’s especially upsetting because it’s on my face, that everyone sees, and it hurts. and my husband and i have paused TTC because of this and the topicals. oh and btw, i get a crazy itchy scalp from time to time (but not right now)

why do i have the skin of a baby :(

Does this look like PR?

The week after our wedding at the end of June I had what I thought was a large itchy bug bite on my upper left arm. I scratched it and it turned into a scaly, pimply rash about 1inch in diameter.

I didn’t think much of it and thought it would heal on its own so I left it alone.

Fast forward 4 weeks later and I got an itchy pimply spot between my breasts- left it alone and it started to develop into a red rash. Then I had what I thought was a small pimple come up on on my upper right arm and I scratched it and it turned into the same red scaly/pimply patch as my upper left arm.

Now I am getting small red bumps all over my torso, chest and armpits - they haven’t developed into the same scaly/pimply rash yet.

None of the spots are very itchy.

I’m in a remote hunting camp in Northern Canada working right now so I can’t get to a Dr and it’s driving me INSANE not knowing what it is.

I’ve put both cortisone cream and fungal cream on the rashes and neither have helped.

Is this PR? 23 weeks pregnant

Does this look like PR? I am 23 weeks pregnant, it’s been going on for about a month and continues to spread. I showed it to my OB last week and when I said it didn’t itch got a shrug in response, but had not researched it much myself. It’s also spread considerably since then. I’ve never had a rash like this in my life. Has been going on for about 3-4 weeks now

u/Wallifer — 13 days ago

My first time

I can’t talk to anybody else and have been in hiding for a week now so wanted to share on here. I work as a model and was just living my life when on Monday I noticed the first signs of the rash appearing. By Wednesday my whole torso was covered and now my neck and face have been hit as well. I have never looked so awful, i can’t sleep at night due to itchiness and I just don’t think I am strong enough to live like this for the next 2 months. I have been battling suicide urges all week and I see no hope at the end of the tunnel, I look so awful I want to cry every time I see a mirror.
