People are making too much of a big deal about the lack of physicals.

Honestly, it's not that big of a deal. Think of all the waste that will get reduced in terms of disks and packaging. And all the unnecessary labor. This is a step in the right direction for Sony and PlayStation as far as I'm concerned.

It is so much easier for everything to be digital considering how ubiquitous internet access is now, and physical discs are just collector's items atp. Tbh, all of you who own tons of physicals should be happy about this development because the value of those physicals will only go up now since they won't produce anymore.

But this changes nothing in terms of the actual gaming experience, and it is more environmentally friendly and economic than unnecessarily producing physicals. It's only a matter of time before everyone realizes how much of a bonus this is for gaming as a whole. The only thing I am concerned about is if they raise the price of PS+ unnecessarily, but other than that this is a positive development and people should stop crying so much about it.

It's time to progress into the future in terms of the technology behind gaming.

Open world games that closely mimic real cities

I recently downloaded Watch Dogs because I lived in the Bay Area and was excited to try that let me explore the city digitally. Although the map size is incredibly small it was still fun to be able to navigate cities like SF, Oakland.

Are there other games that closely mimic real cities that's great for exploring?

Any good online games with simple platinums?

Me and my friends have played a ton of online and co-op games, so many that we are at the point where we are running out of options. Does anyone have any good recommendations for online games with somewhat achievable platinums on ps plus? As in it won't take us 100 hours to complete. 2 player games and 4 player games work. We just finished payday 3 and it was a great game that we could all play in a realistic time. They don't even have to be on PlayStation plus, although that would he preferred. Thanks for any recommendations.

Yearly Extra Subscription Value Tracker

While back I've asked if people are tracking their value against cost of subscription. I bought my yearly sub on 27th of May on the discounted £75.99 price. After almost 2 months I've already broke even and played more than the value of yearly sub currently at £92.

Just for the reference I get priced from Vinted as I would normally by 2nd hand discs, wouldn't be fair to include release price.

Anyway, in my opinion yearly it's worth if you've never played classics like Last of Us, God of War etc.

Not a fan of the recent PlayStation news, so this might be my last sub

Ps+ catalogue question

Why aren’t some of the ps+ games showing up in the catalogue? I find random ps+ games when I search for other games, It’s dumb how I have to go on a scavenging hunt just to find them. What did they even do to the catalogue? I literally paid for a year just for them to tell me, “uh uh uh…that’s a secret”

Interesting video about Dreams (a PS Plus Extra game)

For someone who has yet to download and try it, this piqued my curiosity and it made me look up that PT remake that was made on there, which looks really impressive. I grew up with and loved Little Big Planet, but I didn't know the same people made Dreams until fairly recently (shame on me). Looks like there's a lot of cool usermade content on there that will unfortunately be lost with time due to the game not being ported elsewhere. :(

Just beat Star Wars Outlaws and loved it

I was looking forward to this game's release when it was first revealed, then ubisoft and a bad launch happened. Killed the enthusiasm a little, but I'd always kept my eye on it. Now that they've patched everything that should have been corrected before release, the game is fantastic.

Massive really nailed the SW vibe, and the visuals are oftentimes stunning with some of the best lighting I've seen in the game. Doesn't hurt that the HDR implementation is awesome.

It's really a shame that it was something of a shotgun release. Had it shipped in the state that it's in now (and if Ubi didn't overcharge for DLC and offer a ridiculously priced premium edition), I think this game would have done much, much better. As it stands now, doesn't look like we're getting another one, and that's a bummer.

So yeah, really enjoyed this one. Was one of those games that I couldn't wait to get back to and play, and I do see myself running through it again sometime in the future. I left some stuff on the table, but all told got about 55 hours out of it between the main quest, lots of contracts (although there are a bunch more), and side quests.

Will you continue to support Sony/Playstation/PS+ after the recent announcement?

Long time Sony fan consumer here, bought every home console from the PS1 to the 30th Anniversary Edition PS5. Ive been subscribed to PS+ for over a decade now, but every year it gets harder and harder to justify supporting this company with its non-stop anti-consumer practices. From requiring a paid subscription to access online gaming, to removing fully purchased digital libraries, the fight against Stop Killing Games, the constant increasing costs of PS+ and for the first time ever increasing costs of consoles, the heavy investment in Live Service slop and threat of reduncines/closures for their developers, and now the removal of physical media from next generation of consoles, me personally I've had enough.

Yes, the savings and benefit of PS+ is great, but the fact that as a whole you basically do not get to own any more games, and these can be removed at any time, in a monopolised controlled market with every increasing costs, its becoming less and less consumer friendly.

Are there anyone else who are considering making this generation their last Sony console purchase, or even considering quitting the gaming industry altogether?

EDIT: Seems a lot of people dont care about the physical games because they purchase digitally anyway. But they're completely ignoring the fact Sony, Rockstar and other corporations have the abilitiy to kill and remove your digitally purchased games entirely sometimes even without warning if they want. Sony literally did that with 500 digitally purchased movie titles, is that a practice you support?

So much Virtue Signaling

If the amount of people complaining online about this right now, had actually bought physical discs this generation, we wouldn't be here.

Feels like just a bunch of virtue signaling from people that mainly bought digital games, while claiming they love physical media lol

People weren't buying physical discs in any meaningful numbers, so they are stopping making them. Simple.

So instead of clinging to the past of physical game discs, I'm focusing on pushing for legislation to strengthen and update consumer protection laws for digital purhases.

That's what we need to focus on now.

Physical Discs aren't coming back. Because not nearly enough people buy them. So now, let's focus on making sure that when we DO buy digital, we get DRM-free forever versions and not just purchasing a license to play the game.

The future is all digital. It is what is it. That doesn't mean we can't be pushing for better consumer protections and rights for our digital purchases.

What Are Some Games I Can Lay Down And Play On PSPlus Extra?

I sold my PlayStation portal which I used to relax and play something from the couch. I would play more chill games because of the input lag. Thought I’d ask for suggestions

Blades of Fire is CONSTANTLY crashing in the intro? Did Sony literally added a completely untested and broken game?

So the game just got added to PS+ Extra.

I liked the demo back when it was released and almost bought the game a month ago on sale.

I'm glad I didn't. I literally CANNOT get past the intro and reach even the very first auto-save which is just after you forge your very first weapon!

The game CONSTANTLY crashes and I have repeated the intro sequence (getting out of the tunnel etc.) who knows how many times now. It always crashes at some point and I have to do the intro over and over again!

I cannot look at the intro anymore 😫!

Am I to assume that the PS5 version is completely broken somehow and Sony added a broken game into the catalog?
