How do I loot these piles of leaves?

How do I loot these piles of leaves?

Am I missing something? This is the second camp like this that I've discovered. I assume the pile of leaves is where the second item is? (The map shows I've looted 1/2 items in this camp, with the first being the treasure chest). Neither the shovel, pick axe or axe work to uncover this pile of leaves. What do I do? Please help!

Edit: Solved! The leaf pile is not interactable and doesn't hide a treasure as I had originally expected. You loot a note from the chest that tells you the other treasure is buried nearby, beneath a tree marked with a red piece of cloth.

Possible Comfort Level Bug?

So my base seems to be stuck 1 level below where it should be. I don't know at what point in the game it happened, but when I started paying attention to it I noticed that I was a level below where I expected it to be. As I've unlocked more and more I keep raising the level, but I'm always behind 1. Now I've reached the point that the only comfort level item I don't have is the croc statue, meaning I should be at level 34, but I'm still at 33. I've done everything I can think of. I've counted up every comfort item in the menu and quadruple checked everything, read and watched multiple guides to make sure I didn't miss anything, and all I have left is the croc statue. Why am I still at 33?

I always dreamt of owning an old Spanish fortress in the Caribbean

Castles are cool, but Caribbean fortresses are even cooler. After spending so much time building this one, I felt like sharing it.

Question for Brig owners

I just built my brig.

I have like 30 gold, but maybe 70 silver...and of course, the exchange rate is terrible.

If you too were low on cash at this point, did you all start off by moving your cannons and boarding party stuff and gull reinforcement from your ketch over to your brig... until you had enough money to buy the better stuff? Or did you raid with the ketch some more to raise funds first?

What is this Aura in the mine?!?! Scared the crap out of me! Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get rid of this or what happens if it fills up?

I feel like I'm fighting with a semi-truck.

Am I the only one who feels like my character has the agility of a rock? Every fight feels as sluggish as can be—as soon as my character gets hit, he freezes and gets pummeled by the enemies. Dodging is really slow too—I’m playing an agile pirate, not a truck.

I haven’t put many hours into the game (10-12 hours) and I’m pretty low-level, but I feel like the whole world is picking on me. Reloading a weapon takes forever, blocking more than 2–3 hits is impossible without taking damage, and half the enemies gang up on me, not to mention the random spawns during boarding.

I’m probably just not good enough, but I think making the gameplay a little more agile wouldn’t hurt, because I’m not really having fun during combat, and if it’s just about farming wood or ore, I might as well go back to Minecraft.

The naval battles, on the other hand, are very well done, but I don't see the point of boarding, since you don't gain any more resources, crew, or even ships.

So far, I've enjoyed building bases, which is pretty fun, as well as exploring—the world is quite beautiful—and a few 1v1 battles where you can adapt to the enemies' patterns.

On the other hand, as soon as you find yourself in a 1v3 or 1v4 situation, the fun is over—and I’m not even talking about the first boss, who’s listed as being beatable at level 4 but kills me in two combos.

Finally, being held back from progressing in crafting because of quests is pretty frustrating too; I'd like to upgrade my gear and level up my character without necessarily being held back by the story in an open world.

I think I'll give the game another try when it's officially released, hoping that the combat gameplay, at the very least, will be faster-paced and more fluid.

Ok that was hard!

At least I thought so. Probably the hardest first boss fight I've ever had. But damn if it wasn't satisfying. Took literally every single one of my bullets on one go. He died with my last shot to the head. I did spend a lot of time getting familiar with his dance routine though, but I could still never quite manage to get close to him reliably.

Needless to say, I was freaking out when I started running out of bullets and had no idea what I'd do when they ran out. And I didn't exactly plan on using the gun, but when I started my first "let's commit" run, I was then just like "aw what the hell, might as well just try the gun!". I'm SO glad it worked out on the first/only go for that...

By the way, I did get frustrated, and started searching on google a bit to see if there were nerfs, and people recommended getting that sword (last pic). I guess it is a random drop (?), but it was really funny to find it at the boss' chest.

Swamp Boss Question

Is the priestess supposed to deal some damage through a block/perfect block? Is dueling not viable on this and I just need to run bleed and dodge all attacks? Kinda lame if it is because why let me be a perfect blocker with a dueling greatsword with no pentaly all through the game and then finally when I need the skills I've been honing all this time, I am punished for doing it? Really is most annoying because sure I can heal the damage back, but during the red hands phase, perfect block/block is useless as I'm instakilled regardless.

So is the strategy for this boss ranged damage for sacs, and bleed rapier when the boss is posture broken?

Last variant I'll make for now, this time a carriage with 4 wheels!

Harder to get some good pictures as it's in a tight spot. I built it to fill up a gap near one of the town gates. The benches inside are functional which I didn't expect. I wish we had more angled beam choices to match the straight beams though.

This game gets a lot of things right.

But if I can't put a tricorne hat on Mr. Dodo and make him the first mate aboard my ship, it is an abject failure.

Weather issues??

Does anyone have a solution to a problem where the wind sweeps through my builds? I’ve tried covering every crack and even rebuilding and the wind still flies through

Small camps with 2 treasures. One in the open. One hidden (buried I assume)

I finished the game. Literally never found the 2nd chest for any of those locations. Dug everywhere near the camp. All I got was holes. Which, btw, saved me from rampaging animals on more than one occasion. Yet the treasure still eludes me. What am I missing?

I invented a new Pirate sport, Boat flipping which then lead to uh the first space ship...

So, all this was to dry dock my boat. Instead, I flipped it, and then well, launched it into space....

Do I get points for having named it the USS Enterprise?

Some building tricks I have not seen mentioned yet

I have watched a lot of videos about building in Windrose but came up with a few tricks on my own that I have not seen mentioned elsewhere (that doesn't mean they are totally unknown, I just haven't seen them) so I decided to share them with you!

Partially buried pots (pics 1&2)

If you want a larger variety of smaller pots, consider burying them in the ground. Not all of them will work but most will. Start with foundation pieces around a hole and snap a small wall piece into it. Now build a foundation that will end at the bottom of that wall piece, remove the wall piece and place plant.

Next step is just placing another foundation into the hole, making it flush with the rest of the floor.

Lights embedded in walls (pic 3)

I usually prefer the cylindrical and rectangular lamps for this, they have a pleasant soft light and you can achieve a more "modern" look using them this way.

First place an object below where you want it, it works really well for me with the herb garland but other options may yield the same results. The garland has a "hitbox" larger than it looks and you can technically place objects on it, seemingly suspending them in the air but that's a different trick. You want to put the lights "on" the garland but back them slightly into the wall. That way when you remove the garland later, the light won't collapse but will stay embedded within the wall.

Fountains with lighting (pic 4&5)

This one I've already seen elsewhere but it's still in my opinion underutilized. You can place any light into the water in the fountain and it will still work, giving a nice atmospheric ambient look. The best lighting piece for that is the clay table lamp since it's the smallest one so there will be no flame peeking from the water.

Improve the fast travel bell and wharf look by building around it (pic 6)

If you have a dripped out base but the fast travel bell is still an eyesore of crooked wood, don't forget you can build around it without compromising its functionality. As long as there is a clear line of sight to the bell, it will still work, no matter what you add. It may require some eyeballing (you can turn off snapping by pressing "P" to get some pieces just right). This one took me just a few minutes and could be further improved, my inspiration was a beach cottage.

How is it Soulslite?

I saw this game has the Soulslite tag. What does that mean for this one? Is it the dodge/parry/block combat? Lose inventory on death or double death?

I'm interested in playing it, but I'd like to know what this means first. Thanks!
