Was gifted a PS5 but then next?

So I was lucky my wife gifted me a PS5. I am not hardcore gamer but we had in office I used to love it.

So my wife seeing it gifted me it on my birthday.

Initially I brought the CDs from office and played GoW, Fifa23, GT. Later those stopped. So I purchased the monthly plan (which has become costly now 1000).
It has huge collection but it’s kind of old. For example the current trending games- Ghost of Yotei, Black Myth Wukong are not in it.

Buying ps5 was itself a big deal for me like many of you but now buying each CD 5-6k doesn’t seem possible. I checked local stores, it also has old preowned games.

So question is, how do you guys do it? How do you get the new games?

I will buy only discs from now on!

I will buy only discs from now on!

We need to increase the disc sell share now!

I will never pay subscriptions or for just a license.

I want to buy games and will continiue as long as I can.

If Sony does not change course, we will buy a switch 2 instead of your game licenses.

We want physical games and we will show it!

One Picture Explains the Physical vs Digital Debate

Same game. Same console.

₹4,999 on the PS Store. The same game on disc for around

₹2,100.

When players can buy, sell, trade, or lend physical copies, Sony earns from just one sale. With digital, every purchase goes through the PlayStation Store, where Sony keeps a much larger share and users can't resell their games.

Convenience is great—but so is competition. Physical games help keep prices in check.

What's your take? Do you prefer digital or physical?

I finally managed to get a PS5 Disc Edition! 🎉

What a frustrating one-month journey it has been.

As everyone in India knows, the PS5 has been out of stock almost everywhere. I called Croma, Vijay Sales, Reliance Digital, and several local stores. Most of them either said "out of stock" and hung up immediately, or gave no useful information at all. It honestly felt like some stores were waiting for another price hike instead of selling whatever stock they had. Meanwhile, scalpers were listing consoles at ridiculous prices.

Since I'm from a remote area, I couldn't just visit stores in person, which made everything even more difficult.

But this journey also introduced me to some amazing people in this community. Huge thanks to u/Minimum_Addendum211, u/That_Leader8913, u/Working_Status358, and u/Then_Somewhere1566. You guys were genuinely helpful throughout.

A very special thanks to u/Working_Status358. Bro, you're an absolute legend. We had only known each other for a few hours, yet you ordered the console, received it many kilometers away, kept it safe, packed it extremely well, and couriered it to me. That level of trust and kindness is rare. I honestly can't thank you enough.

Now my PS5 Disc Edition is finally on its way, and I can't wait for it to be delivered.

I hope everyone who's genuinely trying to buy one gets their PS5 at the right price soon.

And to the scalpers... I hope you're left with unsold stock.

Happy gaming, everyone! 🎮❤️

Coming from PC gaming, I don't get the hate for digital-only Console

I've been a PC gamer for 10+ years, and back in college I used to "sail the high seas" since I couldn't afford even discounted prices. But once I got a job, I never looked back Steam and Epic became my go-to platforms for great deals.

I recently bought a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition during an Amazon flash deal, since disc versions have seen a weird surge in demand lately (not sure why). That said, I don't get the rage around Sony pushing digital-only. Even with a disc, don't you still need to download most of any AAA game anyway?

So, based on some speculation I've seen, here are my doubts please explain patiently:

  1. If a company revokes access to your PSN account, you won't be able to redownload your games and this applies even if you have the disc, since you still need to download 70% of the game via the internet.

2.I've seen some people mention a workaround for "trading" digital games creating a separate account per game and handing over the login credentials to a buyer once you're done playing. Obviously this goes against PSN's Terms of Service and comes with real risk (Sony could flag the account later, and the buyer has no official recourse), but I'm curious how common or realistic this actually is in practice.

  1. If Sony eventually shuts down servers for an older console, wouldn't that affect even AAA disc games too since they still require a large chunk of the game to be downloaded and need internet access to fully install?

Worth Buying Split Fiction PS5 Disc at ₹3,276? Should I Pull the Trigger?

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to buy Split Fiction (PS5 Disc Edition) from Flipkart for ₹3,276.

Before I place the order, I wanted to get your opinion:

Is ₹3,276 a genuinely good deal, or has it gone lower before?

Should I buy it now, or is it worth waiting for a better sale?

Has anyone purchased this game from this Flipkart seller? Are they reliable?

Did you receive a genuine, sealed disc without any issues?

Is there any better place to buy it (Amazon, local stores, PS5 communities, etc.) for a lower price?

I'm mainly looking for the physical disc version, not digital.

I'd really appreciate your advice because I'd love to order it soon and start playing. Thanks in advance! 😊

My request to all.... STOP BUYING ONLINE GAMES

As we all know sony will stop disc manufacturing from 2028

And I don't have to tell you how bad of a decision this is for everyone.

It's my plea to all that DO NOT BUY digital games from sony

View this as a protest against their decision

They will only reconsider if it shows up in their losses

As after sony I'm certain that soon enough physical games will go extinct and we all will permanently lose ownership from the games WE BUY.

For reference look at how sony recently removed almost 500 movies online without compensating those who purchased it

No more CORPORATE TYRANNY!!

Sony NEEDS to implement UPI or increase the availability of PS gift cards

I am so pissed. I've checked all the good, reliable websites and platforms, and not a single one has PS gift cards in stock. What's even more frustrating is that they're out of stock most of the time, and whenever they do get restocked, they get bought up almost immediately.

I genuinely don't understand why Sony still hasn't implemented UPI support when Xbox and Steam have had it since 2023 and 2025, respectively. And if UPI still hasn't been implemented, then why haven't they increased the availability of PS gift cards, especially now when they seem to be going out of stock even more frequently than they used to?

It honestly sucks so much.
