FYI if you’re looking for the Plotter Binder Case

Midori (Plotter’s sister company under DesignPhil) recently launched their USA online store and are selling an online exclusive A5 “Notebook Vertical Case” in goat leather that seems similar in function to the Plotter binder case.

I have their A6 notebook cover in goat leather and it’s different as a leather compared to my TNs and Plotters. It is softer and thinner and seems to patina much slower. It also feels very different to the touch.

I just ordered one we’ll see how it goes.

DIY Plotter A5 (Various Papers)

MD Grid A5 notepad

Rhodia A4 Punched and Folded \"Project Folder\"

Rhodia A4 Dot Pad Paper cut in Half

Maruman Mnemosyne A5 Grid

Rhodia A5 Lined/Margin Paper

3x5 Index Card

4x6 Index card

For anyone wanting to try out the Plotter system before diving into an expensive leather cover you can try this. I was already planning on storing my A5 notes in 6-ring binders so I decided to just give a Plotter style workflow a chance.

I bought a hole punch and just went at it with whatever paper I had on hand.

You can make a "project management" folder by punching a A4 paper on the short edge and the folding it before the holes. Take another A4 page, fold it in half, and the cut it and you get two A5 sheets. I also punched some index cards for fun.

You can also just buy Plotters own refill and add them in. I do wish I could find 11mm binders to simulate the Plotter but this will do for now!

Cover: A5 6-ring Binder
6-Ring Punch: BiraBira

Plotter Mini + Midori Diamond Memo

The Midori Diamond Memo (medium size) fits perfectly inside the Plotter Mini, and I love using it for daily to-do lists that I rip out after they're done, and for bringing to meetings where I don't want to bring the showy Plotter. It's also so cheap ($2.10 on Jetpens)!

Writing is with Pilot Prera M in Cinnamon Brown, ink is Diamine Ancient Copper.

Also pictured: Uni Jetstream Edge (love the red clip detail).

Case/Pouch for Plotters

Do y’all keep your plotters protected in a case/pouch? I’m still on the hunt for perfect sized pouches to keep my plotter bible and mini (and maybe mini 5 TBD 🤪)

For anyone else searching, the plotter mini 5 fits into the Muji nylon compact pouch perfectly, as shown by this Instagram post I chanced upon (with lots of other plotter inspo too): https://www.instagram.com/reel/Clr2I2cjpJL/?igsh=bGZ2Y2VoemIyZnJl

Tried making my own Pen Loop for my new Mini 5

Picked up a Russet Mini 5 at Stationary Fest. Normally I’d just use the stock Lifter with Pen Loop but for the m5 the only pen I own that fits correctly is a Kaweco Liliput.

So this weekend I stumbled on 3D printed lifters on Maker World with a space for a TPU-printed loop. I elected instead to use some craft elastic and sewed it shut and it has much more versatility.

Happy to start daily driving this!

Spine grinding/corner rounding?

I come from an amazing Plotter family, my father, brother, sister in law and I all have Plotters. My father asked if I could find a way to round the corners of the spine on his Mini5 since it often gets caught or snags when sliding in and out of his pocket.

I tried searching what key terms I could think of for this subreddit but didn't see anything (though I could have sworn I'd seen a post or two on it)

Has anyone done this already and recommend any techniques?

Thought it might be worth checking before I started trial-and-error modding. His is the black Pueblo with the gold-colored spine - Im hoping that gold finish doesn't come off once you start grinding, but I'd imagine it must? If its brass, maybe it wont be so stark as if it were a silver colored metal, but I really don't know much about metal materials.

My First Plotter: Navy Horse Hair Bible

My very first Plotter! Was checking its delivery status every single day for almost two weeks. After laying my hands on it, I immediately bought another (I have a problem, I know).

After trying Hobonichi, Sterling Ink, Stalogy, Moleskine, Leuchtturm, etc, I’m liking the idea of a highly customizable system with Plotter. I will still be using the Apple ecosystem for most of my life and work planning and reflections, and intend to use the Plotter for other scribbles like language learning and brainstorming.

Really liking the matte black backplate and the overall feel on my hands. Looking forward to using it proper, as opposed to babying it now (keeping it in box, wrapped with its protective bag).

WTB Mini/M5/M5 Square

Hello guys, I'm looking to buy a mini/mini 5/square to carry every day in my pocket. Any condition welcomed because I do like a rich patina on old leather. Looking forward to seeing what you have!

Plotter will not be present at the San Francisco Pen Show

Hi everyone, I was planning my day at the San Francisco Show when I realized Plotter is not listed as a vendor. I was thinking about getting the weekend ticket just to enter the venue early to check the Plotter special editions that are usually only available at Pen Shows or Stationery Fest.

I check with the organizers, and they responded that Plotter decided not to attend the SF Pen Show since they already attended the SF Stationery Fest early this year.
I'm sharing this information because I know most people who want an exclusive show item, always buy the weekend ticket to enter early morning to buy them.

If Plotter is the only exclusive item you want to get, you can save yourself some money by not buying the weekend ticket and just getting the ticket for the day you'll attend.

I hope this information help someone else to save some money during the show.

Muji/Kokuyo A5 refill in Plotter

My first Plotter arrives soon. I got an A5 and am excited to experiment with different refills including DIY. I’m wondering if the Muji or Kokuyo A5 inserts match up with the Plotter rings well enough to use.

I know they have a different amount of rings, just wondering if the 6 Plotter rings match up with any of the 20 holes.

Plotter Murazome Cordovan - maintenance and care

I was recently gifted a Japan-exclusive Plotter Bible Size Murazome Shell Cordovan (Green). It has some light surface scratches and normal signs of use. The previous owner did not apply any creams or treatment.

I'm hoping to bring back some of that signature shell cordovan glow without altering the leather's unique Murazome characte so I ordered the Columbus Brillo Cream - which I understand is the product Plotter recommends for their leather binders.

Would like to know if anyone else had success in conditioning this type of leather from Plotter Tokyo.

  • Have you had good results with Brillo?
  • Any tips on application, buffing, or burnishing?
  • How much shine were you able to restore without affecting the dye or finish?
  • Have you tried any alternatives?
  • Any before-and-after photos would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
