Looking for opinions on these apartments

Hi everyone,

I’m 23F coming to Michigan for work in Dearborn and i’m trying to finalize where i want to live. Safety is my biggest priority, but i’d also love an area that feels nice for a young professional, has cafes/restaurants nearby, isn’t too isolated.

I’ve narrowed my search down to apartments in these areas:

- Plymouth

  1. Plymouth Heritage
  2. Starkweather Lofts
  3. Z on Plymouth
  4. Plymouth Collection
  5. Hines Park Place Apartments

- Novi

  1. Saddle Creek Apartments
  2. Edge at Novi
  3. Rover Oaks West

- Ferndale

  1. FerndaleHaus Lofts
  2. on Nine
  3. Vested Heights apartments

- Canton

  1. Springs at Canton
  2. Pilgrim Village
  3. Village of Canton Apartments
  4. Heather Ridge Apartments
  5. Fordham Green
  6. Turnbury Park

I’d really appreciate any feedback from people who have lined in or toured these places.

Which ones would you recommend?
Is there any I should absolutely avoid?
Any issues with management, maintenance, safety, bugs, theft?
Are there any other apartment communities in these areas that I should add to my list?

Thank you so much! Coming to a new state is a little overwhelming, so i’d really appreciate any local insight!

Comcast outage?

Xfinity went down yesterday morning about 12 hours after the storm, came back around 9:45pm last night, and then died again overnight. No real updates that I can see on my app. Anyone else having issues? I’m in Plymouth Township south of AA Road.

Plymouth parade photos & videos

Edit to note that photo comments are not allowed on this subreddit, only videos. However, you should be able to include a link to a shared photo album or folder in your comment, if you're OK making one. Or you can create a new post with photos!

If you went to the parade, post here for those who couldn’t make it!

Go see a tree in Plymouth that's older than America

The Miller Woods Nature Preserve, on Powell Road between Beck and Ridge Roads, is marking the nation's 250th birthday by inviting everyone to come see a sugar maple tree that's even older than the nation!

It was dated at more than 300 years old through a core sample by a U-M team several years ago. If you want to see it, park alongside the road and go straight when you enter the woods (no dogs, bikes or strollers please). The tree is just past the second bench. Please stay on the trail and help preserve the tree and all the woods for generations to come!

It's cooler and shady in the woods, though you may want to put some bug spray on before you go.

Follow Miller Woods Plymouth MI on Facebook or MillerWoodsMI on Instagram. You can join the email list, donate to support invasive species removal and trail upkeep, or become a member of the nonprofit Friends of Miller Woods at https://www.millerwoods.com

FUCK CSX

I’ve grown to hate trains and Plymouth… they come at inconsistent times, take 5-25 minuets, they stop traffic across Plymouth, and there’s seemingly no rhyme or reason why CSX wouldn’t be able to provide the public with the times and routes their trains are running on a daily basis. Is anything going to change? No, def not. But idk what to do other then complain on here lol

Red Bell preschool

Hello!

I'm looking for experiences for people with kids in the preschool, summer camp, and after school care at Red Bell. I've heard mixed reviews and can't find much on Google reviews or Facebook.

Preferably recent experiences as I'm sure the staff change over time.

Thank you!

Experience taking uber in Plymouth?

Might be a dumb question, but what is everyone’s with uber availability out here. I once took an uber to downtown Plymouth from Livonia and back, and was told by my driver on way back that there aren’t a lot of Ubers in the area, is this an accurate experience for everyone else? Just wondering because I like going out in Plymouth but not trying to be stranded there lol

Experience with working in Plymouth Canton/Livonia/Northville/Novi/Salem/South Lyon/Ann Arbor or other metro Detroit school districts?

Hi all!
Looking for individuals with experience working in Plymouth Canton schools to get the energy on culture. I am a Northville native but have been living out of the state for a decade, we are potentially moving back to the area and I work in education. I’m trying to get a grasp on the culture of working in districts like Plymouth Canton, Northville, Livonia and any other.

For context, I am a very progressive liberal, in my thirties, married with kids. It’s important for me to work in educational environments that love and accept all people out loud (not behind closed doors), feels like a true community, not just one from the outside, and you feel has fair (not perfect) leadership style from the top, not one acting like a corporation. I am coming from a well resourced district in another state that looks very shiny on the outside and had the best test scores, but the culture was toxic, I would have positive culture over higher pay and step increases any day (although both are deserved in education 🤪)

My first go to was Ann Arbor, but it looks like they historically have not taken good care of their employees. Culturally, it seems like many of the schools would fit what I’m looking for.

Public education is tough right now, there are no unicorns, times are weird for all, but I would love to get some insight.

Thanks for any and all!

New resident looking for Trans/Queer events & spaces

Hello all! I’m a trans-woman (28 y.o) that recently moved from Nashville to Plymouth. This town has been very welcoming so far. I was looking to get plugged into the local trans and/or queer community & make friends! Are there dedicated trans/queer spaces/events around Plymouth? Also, if you’re queer & maybe want a new trans friend, slide into my dms!

Thanks!

Mobile Car detailing Services

Hey everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself to the community.

I’m local and recently started a mobile car detailing business around the area.

I’m not here to spam or push sales—just wanted to let people know I’m around if anyone ever needs detailing or just want to hear a free quote!

Greyblending?

Can anyone recommend a colorist who does REAL greyblending? Not grey transition, not highlights. True, low maintenance (at least 3-4 months+ between appointments), no heavy roots/demarcation, blending of the grey color so that it doesn’t show a stark contrast. Beyond Plymouth is ok. Bonus if they give a darn good cut too (but not necessary). No colorists self promoting please.
