Introducing… “The Podcast Against Giygas!”

I’ve been making an audiobook adaptation of my favorite game, Earthbound.

It has a lighthearted, young adult tone with plenty of absurdist humor and neato sci-fi action. If you’re not familiar with the games, it goes a little something like this:

““When a meteor crash lands into a small town and brings along a world-conquering tyrant, it's up to an average 12-year-old boy and his three not-so-average new friends to save the world as we know it.

These four brave kids go up against Giygas, the destroyer of worlds, and the very worst of his worst, including time-traveling alien soldiers, deadly robots, whack-a-doo cults, scary zombies, and the most annoying kid on planet Earth.

Luckily for them, they have plenty to aid them on their quest, including strange psionic abilities, a never-ending supply of bottle rockets, the most molecularly dense baseball bat that money can buy, and of course, the strongest weapon of all, the power of friendship.”

The first season is complete, and it covers the second game in the series, Earthbound. Season two has a prologue episode up now and will release in August 2026, and that one deals with the first game, Mother. The artwork is also done by my friend PD_CGT, you can check out more of his stuff on his website.

You can listen to them here, anywhere else you get your podcasts (RSS link here), or on my YouTube channel if that’s your thing. I hope you enjoy it, and if you do please leave a comment or review, it means a lot to me!

[Midnight Static] Always Watching: Some Monsters Don’t Hide

Not every monster lurks in the dark. Some drive slow down your street with the windows down and a jingle playing, and we're trained from childhood to run toward them.
This week Donivan and Sal crack open the Ice Cream Man comic and unpack why it works as horror — before diving into the 1995 cult classic and previewing what 2026's reboot has in store. Then the conversation turns real: the actual predators, scams, and disturbing cases tied to ice cream trucks over the years, and why "hiding in plain sight" might be the scariest horror trope of all.
Some monsters don't need shadows. Sometimes all they need is a jingle.

The biggest fraud blind spot might be the payout stage

"What happens when the moment of truth isn't onboarding - it's the moment the money moves?"

Businesses pour resources into KYC, fraud modelling, and onboarding checks. But fraud doesn't really happen until the money goes out, and by then, it's often too late to get it back.

This week's guest is Apurva Shrivastava, Product Lead for Global Payments Product at Amazon. He breaks down why payout fraud is one of the most underestimated risks in the industry, and why "we caught it at onboarding" isn't enough on its own.

We cover the three phases of cash-out fraud: Account farming, waiting for a trigger event, and burst execution; why payout fraud often gets booked as an "operational loss" instead of a fraud loss, and what a disbursement-time identity assurance score could look like in practice.

Looking for Podcasters to test something I'm building (Free)

Hey everyone,

I'm a UX designer and podcast host myself (MindSpiritPixels), and I've been building a small tool called PodSpark to help creators spend less time planning and more time recording.

Right now, it helps with things like:

• Episode outlines
• Discussion questions
• Research summaries
• SEO title ideas
• Social media post ideas

The goal isn't to replace creativity—it's to make prep work faster.

I'm looking for a handful of new and established podcasters who'd be willing to try it out and give honest feedback. It's completely free while I'm testing and improving it.

Website:
https://spark-your-podcast.lovable.app

A few questions I'm trying to answer:

  1. Would something like this actually save you time?
  2. What's missing from your current podcast workflow?
  3. What would make a tool like this genuinely useful enough that you'd come back to it every week?

Feel free to be brutally honest. I'd rather build something useful than just add more AI fluff.

Thanks!
