Hi everyone! This is my first time making a post here. I was obsessed with Pokémon cards as a kid (collected around the Diamond and Pearl era) but I fell off of it for a long time. Late last year I got into playing Magic the Gathering, and I regained my love for Pokémon cards recently because of that. I got a Pitch Black ETB and got the gold Mega Darkrai EX with my girlfriend and have been loving it.

With the 30th Anniversary coming up, I was hoping to get some advice on how to realistically obtain both the “Day” and “Night” variants of the Ultra Premium Collection later this year. I can afford to pay over MSRP (within reason lol), but my concern at this point is just availability.

My local card shops have no idea if they’ll even be able to get them and seeing the Pokémon Center queues crack 15 hours today and unlock with a whole site OOS has pretty much solidified my feelings around trying NOT to use that to get it. I also have seen my Target get totally demolished after restocks.

Any advice would be really appreciated! Thanks everyone!

I know that neither dislike for scalpers nor the idea of a collective boycott is particularly novel. But this recent Target bot attack seems to have reawakened the extent to which they are destroying the hobby in a very tangible way for many of us. Let’s hit them in the wallet where it hurts. Let the thousands of dollars worth of sealed and resealed packages rot in the basement of these scammers until they are forced to sell for minimal or no profit. I will never purchase a sealed item from individual sellers for more than MSRP, and I hope we can stick to our guns this time and run these profiteers into the ground for good.
