I got hit by nostalgia, and haven’t played Pokémon since growing up with it early 2000s on Gameboy.

I wanted to play the best Pokémon, but also one that’s from the early gen for nostalgias sake.

What’s your best advice for a first playtrough?

My first no starter run through since I started playing Red in ‘98. I know the team/moves weren’t optimal. I wanted to play with mons I haven’t had on my team. I’ve used crobat and nidoqueen before but only once. Starmie carried especially with Lance. I’m definitely going to spend some time optimizing everyone before the rematch. Any thoughts?

Does anyone know what the nature of thing is? I would greatly appreciate the help with this.

POKEMON SOUL SILVER

I know in previous versions of the game all you needed was mach bike. Those aren’t available in this game. So what’s the deal with soul silver?

Some of you saw here about two months ago that I was on 600 something resets and asked about odds, now around 4000 resets (I stopped counting at 2000) later, I finally got my shiny starter

Lost my ds and games from back then but randomly found soul silver while rummaging through some old stuff. Thinking I might complete the game with what was in my party 🤔

Thoughts? I finally took the time to level my team to 53. I’m looking for good moves for this team and maybe held items too. Thanks.

Finally got a Torchic in the Pokewalker!

After 947 resets I hit my first shiny! Shame about the nature but correct me if i'm wrong, I think I can change that if i port him to more recent games? I'm new to checking out IVs too so any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well please

Recently managed to export my hg cartridge forever savefile to computer and I'm streaming the streak hoping for help 🤣, if anyone wanna come check it out and maybe help me it would be fun !
(I've breed and hunt legitimately everyone so IVs are not perfect but maybe they can do the 100 wins)

Decided to randomly do some training before bed yesterday and caught myself a shiny vulpix.

I took an almost decade long hiatus from this game. I wanted to restart, but after coming back to it, I realized I had gotten far enough to have couple Kanto badges, so I went and got the rest. I even went to the trouble of catching some legendaries to help. Despite that, considering where my team stands now, how much money I have, and how much grinding I’d have to do to get strong enough, I’m not sure beating Red is worth the rewards, at least rn. At best, I’d store what Pokemon I didn’t have in OG Diamond (my legendary/unique Pokemon storage) and then just restart the game anyway.
For context, I’m also playing through FireRed for the first time on Switch (but I’ve seen a full let’s play), and starting Black on DS 99% blind (Black just doesn’t hit like HG though…) I’m even thinking of launching Platinum back up simply so I can grab Darkrai with my old Action Replay.
Should I grind and tough it out? Or just cut my losses and start fresh?

Isn’t it usually blueish/purple? I thought you had to catch loads in a row but I was in the ice cave place and the only Pokemon that appeared before were not golbats
