Character Struggle

I’ve been struggling with making a character for a PTU campaign I’m in. I’m a very writing and acting focused player so I tend to dwell on finding the perfect character concept. I’d love to hear any ideas that I can potentially build off of!

Suggestions on which system

Hi there,

Im interested in running a Pokemon ttrpg for my wife and son, but my main concern is that both my and my wife's main experience with ttrpgs is DnD3.5/Pathfinder1e. Any suggestions on which system might be closes mechanically to that?

[gmt+2][other][online] looking for one or two players for apokemon campaign set in the homebrewed region of Franzia

Hello ! I'm a 19 years old GM looking to run a pokemon campaign using the Pokeymanz system.

I'll be using a PBP format (text - play by post) with a free schedule (no set day and time to play)

This will be a somewhat traditional Pokemon experience set in a "medieval" region.
This campaign will explore themes such as:

  • Social class and inequality
  • Science vs religion
  • What makes someone "worthy"
  • Whether a broken society can actually be fixed

Franzia is a region inspired by medieval France and England (mostly France), where Pokémon battles, politics, religion, science and social class are deeply intertwined.

Franzia is ruled by a King, rather than a traditional Pokémon League Champion. Across the kingdom stand powerful castles, each ruled by a knight who serves as both a political figure and a Pokémon battler.

Defeating the castles and completing the Royal League can earn you a place within Franzian society.

Pokémon battling isn't simply a sport in Franzia.

It's part of the culture.

Knights travel with their Pokémon. Noble families raise generations of battlers. Castles host tournaments. Young people dream of earning their place among the kingdom's warriors.

However, Franzia is deeply divided.

There is a massive gap between social classes.

The official Royal League is expensive to participate in. Trainers without sufficient money may need sponsors to pay for travel, food, accommodation, Pokémon care and equipment.

Meanwhile, the common people have developed their own League, complete with traditional gyms and Gym Leaders.

What began as a small alternative is becoming increasingly popular.

And the nobility is starting to take notice.

The Royal Circuit

Instead of Gym Leaders, you'll encounter Knights and Castles.

Some battles may arbor different rulesets.

Every Castle has its own definition of chivalry.

Franzia is currently going through a period of enormous change.

The old traditions are being challenged by new ideas.

The Commoner League

Gives poor trainers the exposition they need to earn money and support to join the Royal Circuit.

Team Eclipse :

Finally , at the center of Franzia's problems is a mysterious organization known as Team Eclipse.

A small but growing terrorist group.

They essentially recruit commoners and openly fight for the suppression of social classes and royalty

Some call them "the revolutionaries", others call them "team Eclipse".

Style: Play-By-Post and possible use of doing battles via Pokemon Showdown for major battles such as Gym Leaders, Elite Four, Champion, and other important trainers.

Additional Details:
Looking for a Roleplaying partner to go through Unova with! I will add twists and turns to the original storyline but otherwise it is based heavily on Pokemon Black and White! I call myself the GM but we will be roleplay partners!

Brief Synopsis:

*It’s time! You can finally get a Pokemon and start your own journey across the Unova Region with Charon and Bianca!! Pokemon were dropped off by professor Juniper and you’re ready to choose who you want as your starter!!

If Bianca stops being late that is…*

Face trainers, catch Pokemon, find out what goal(s) you want to strive for, and ultimately go forth into the world of Pokemon. Your actions as the Trainer dictate the story!

Please DM me if you are interested and I will get back to you as soon as I can! I am free to answer any questions you may have!

Advice for a new PTU player

Hello!

I recently joined what is soon to be my first PTU game and our entire group is pretty new to the system. I have a character concept made but due to the 4 class limit I've been psyching myself out and getting nervous about accidentlaly picking an option that doesn't work well. Simplest way I can put the idea so far is a beginner trainer who loves fossils and wants to follow his fathers footsteps of becoming a rock-type gym leader. I was already planning on picking up Researcher [Paleontologist/Pokemon Caretaker] but as for the other classes and feats I've been juggling a bit too much and feeling a bit too wishi-washi about it (hence why I thought I'd post here where the more experienced people are!).

If anyone has any advice I'd love to hear it and would greatly appreciate it!

Making a trainer for pokemon dnd for my friend and my boyfriend help!!

so i’m currently designing a dark/ice trainer and a water/electric trainer i have some ideas and references for them but im having a harder time than usual making these characters.

dark/ice type trainer:
my references for this character is death the kid, grey fullbuster, and cloud strife. my boyfriend wants him to be in a suit like kid but i’m open to anything. he also owns a ice/dark type gastly.

water/electric type trainer:
she doesn’t have any references but my problem with her is including electro elements into her design like you can tell she’s a water trainer but not electric type. she owns a mareep and any time she pets it her hair puffs up. any help with her design will help me out a BUNCH
