Community Update: Building a Safer & Stronger Pokémon TCG India Community - August 2026.

Hello everyone,

Good morning. Feels like a long time no see.

First of all, thank you to everyone. This subreddit has grown tremendously and we are now a community just shy of 4K members. Whether you joined recently or have been here from the beginning, every collector, seller, player, content creator, and enthusiast has helped build this community. So thank you to you all.

However, with growth comes its challenges and also added responsibility.

As the community grows, we naturally hope to see more

- Collection posts.

- More buying and selling, and maybe some trading.

- New collectors / players joining.

- More discussions and debates, information being shared.

- and unfortunately, occasional disagreements and disputes.

The goal of this post is not to address any one person or situation. Instead, we want to establish some general principles that will help keep this community welcoming, fair, and enjoyable for everyone.

A Message For New Collectors

Welcome to the Pokemon TCG hobby! This is truly a wonderful place to be. Collect some great cards and hopefully also make some wonderful and lifelong friends and cherished memories.

Everyone starts somewhere. Whether you are opening your first pack, buying your first single, or building your first collection, we are happy to have you here.

However, please, please remember:

Take your time. Learn before spending.

The hobby can be exciting, but excitement can sometimes lead to rushed decisions.

Before buying or selling expensive (or any kind of cards) cards:

- Research prices

- Check multiple sources

- Ask the community for opinions

- Understand card conditions

- Do not feel pressured to make a decision immediately

There is always another card, another opportunity, and another product release.

Avoid FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out)

Pokémon products often create a lot of hype.

New releases, special sets, limited products, and popular cards can make people feel like they must buy immediately before prices increase.

Remember:

- Not every product becomes valuable.

- Not every expensive card is a good investment.

- High prices immediately after release are often driven by hype and limited availability.

- Waiting and researching is perfectly okay.

Almost every modern card is printed in millions. Collect because you enjoy the card, not because you are afraid of missing an opportunity.

The hobby should bring happiness, not stress.

Follow Protocol.

The subreddit rules exist for a reason. More specifically the rule involving Buying / Selling and Trading. It has been observed that people like or seem to bypass these rules (whether intentionally or unintentionally). Unfortunately, there have also been instances where certain community members have also been scammed because they failed to recognize the very obvious red flags. This can happen to new and experienced sellers alike.

Please, a humble request to report listings without time-stamps and also not to engage with posts which do not contain any. It is becoming very easy now for anyone to fake product listings from the internet and use it as their own.

So, there has been a slight update to the Rule 2. All posts must now be:

  • Timestamped (with Reddit username + date). Please use handwritten timestamps. Name on the timestamp should match reddit username.
  • Have very clear photos.
  • Clear prices (in INR preferred) are now mandatory for all posts.

These 3 clauses exist for a reason and there are no exceptions. Repeated violations will be banned from the subreddit.

Private Messages & Safety

Members should be especially careful with unsolicited DMs. This is generally observed as a way to entice new members. While many community members are genuine, please remember:

- Do your own checks.

- Do not rush because someone contacted you privately.

- Do not send money without verifying details.

- Ask questions if something feels unclear.

Whenever possible, keep initial discussions visible on Reddit. Public conversations allow others to help and provide context. If something feels wrong, pause and ask.

Lastly,

Fair and Responsible Use of AI

AI is a useful tool and we are not against its use. AI can help with many aspects of our lives including writing, editing, and many other creative uses.

However, AI should not be used to misrepresent items being bought, sold, or traded.

Therefore, the subreddit is now including a new rule regarding AI. Please refer to Rule 4

This subreddit will not allow:

  • AI generated timestamps.
  • AI created proof of ownership.
  • Removing scratches, whitening, dents, or defects.
  • Altering card condition or appearance.
  • Presenting AI generated images as actual product photos.

Failure to comply will result in a ban on the first instance itself, no second chances.

Final Message

Every collector was once a beginner. We all stared somewhere and someplace. Not everyone had information at the ready and many people did struggle to find their way in the hobby. Every experienced seller has made some rookie mistakes, every expert was also someone who at some point bought their very first card and has learned through countless errors (both their own and others)

But, now, things have changed.

Let's continue building a community where:

- New collectors feel welcome,

- Experienced collectors can contribute and are respected for the value they bring.

- buyers and sellers treat each other fairly,

- and everyone can enjoy Pokémon.

This hobby is for everybody. Collect responsibly, trade fairly, and most importantly

Make friends and have fun.

Please always refer to FAQ's and also the subreddit list of Verified Sellers for more information.

Sincerely,

Mod Team.

Travelling to India during the 30th Anniversary TCG launch

Hey everyone! I’m planning a trip to India around Pokémon 30th Anniversary TCG release.
Since there aren't official Pokémon Centers in India, I'm trying to figure out the best places to buy sealed products.

My plan was to camp outside stores in Australia to get my hands some products.

Thanks heaps.

Looking for TCG collectors in India — would love your thoughts 👋

We’re building something for the Indian TCG community - exploring live online selling and auctions for TCGs — but we want to build this around what the community actually wants, rather than assuming we know the answer. So I’d love to hear from you:

  1. What’s the biggest pain point when buying TCGs in India? Finding the right card/price, authenticity, trusted sellers, condition, delivery?
  2. Would you watch TCGs being opened and sold live? Live pack openings, collection showcases, auctions, or live buying — would you watch daily, weekly, or occasionally?
  3. What else would you want to see beyond TCGs? sneakers, sports cards, Hot Wheels, LEGO, anime figures, sneakers, vintage toys, etc.?
  4. What would make you come back every week? Rare cards, great deals, auctions, entertainment, favourite sellers, community, or the excitement of discovering something new?

This is really for the community, and we’d love to build it with you.
