Hotel Recommendation

Hello Portola friends, I’m coming up from San Diego and i’m not super familiar with SF traffic/travel. Currently my friends and i are considering booking (for a really good deal) this hotel that’s in Oakland. For the price, it’s super worth. But i’m worried about travel to the festival as it is located on the other side of the Bay Bridge. I’m aware there’s tolls on the bridge, and that it can likely get pretty backed up, especially during a music festival. I also saw there’s no parking available for the festival, so we will have to uber or public transit.

San Fran locals, is this a doable trek? Should we look for other accommodations? What do yall think? Any input appreciated, thanks!

888 garage afters

Did anybody go last year to 888? I went to the Midway, but I think that this is different? Is it really that tiny? Also does anybody remember if they had coat/bag check?

Thanks!!

VIP Worth It?

Hi everyone, this year will be my first year attending Portola. I am super excited about this year’s lineup, and was curious if VIP is worth it. I currently have a GA ticket, but AXS keeps informing me about being able to upgrade my ticket to VIP.

I was reading that there are viewing areas for VIP ticket holders, but was unsure if it was actually worth it. I have bought VIP tickets for other festivals (some worth it, and others were a waste of money) so I’m hesitant. If anyone has had VIP before I would highly appreciate your opinions and feedback !! Thank you💜

Staying by Ferry Building- help me with transportation?

In 5 years, it has never occurred to me to enlist the help of this sub! My crew stays over by the Ferry Building and we have always Ubered or taken Waymo to the festival. That's super easy, but at night it's a different story. We usually end up walking half way back before we can get an Uber. What would be the easiest way to get from Pier 80 to the Embarcadero area at the end of the night? Has anyone ever tried scheduling an Uber to meet them somewhere at a particular place and time? Is that even an option? We aren't opposed to public transport (assuming it's safe) or shuttle- just have no idea how those work in relation to where we are staying.

Best Folsom parties?

Me and my bf want to experience both Portola and Folsom, does anyone in this sub have recommendations?

Mainly looking for something Thursday/Friday night, maybe Saturday if it's easy enough to get to from Portola. Sunday we are going to the street fair obviously.

Also wondering what night might be best to check out the Castro?

Where to actually buy Despacio event tickets?

I'm eligible to buy tickets for the 5th anniversary Despacio event. However, the only info that GV has provided about buying tickets when they go on sale today is that they will be available as an "add-on in your AXS FanAccount". Does anyone actually know what this means, or where to go in AXS to purchase it? It's unclear, and I'm concerned I may not be able to find it or purchase tickets before they sell out.

Will 2026 be the year the shuttle gets it together?

Every previous year has been an absolute shitshow. Staff trying to close off the entrance 20 minutes after the headliner ends...Staff recommending for folks to wander and saying no more shuttles are coming 10 minutes before 4 more shuttles show up...Fence hopping to get in a mysterious line.

I would absolutely pay for a pass if it were run like the OSL shuttle. This situation leads to me spending the last 10 minutes of the headliner dreading what awaits me beyond the festival gate. It isn't a great area to wander in (light industrial), public is always packed, ubers are unattainable, and in previous years they offered free bike parking but dumped it last year.

Set times shall precede Portola Week announcement

I don’t know maybe I’m cheap or not getting the pre / after vibes, but I think I want to see set-times to know what are my potential conflicts so that I plan and buy pre/afters accordingly. Tired of nonsense.

Portola week

Which one are you guys most excited about?

It’s my first time attending the fest, and I wasn’t aware there would be so many.

I might do Soulwax, fcukers, horsegiirL, and Ninascores.

Apart from Ninascores (aka TBA), which one are you most excited about?

Dumb Question but... 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyone know if vapes are OK? Mods? Cigarettes?

Also... No cursing? I thought this was a 21+ event... Why can't we talk like adults? It's a family friendly event? Did I miss a memo? Is this not a music festival?

What exactly constitutes as public indecency or sexual behavior? Rules state that is not allowed either so...

(I live in Mormon hell currently. A bikini is legit indecent and dancing close is sexual behavior... On my latest trip to Vegas it seems that the same rules applied in sin city.) So, in short apparently the entire world has suddenly been nerf-ed into oblivion and it's not okay to be an adult or have sex or even be anything less than 100% church covered... we must all adhere to Disney Jr rules. 🫩🙄 🔫

If anyone has any insight and can be nice to a first timer I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
