Power Girl reader wishes
As a big PG fan, I really wish writers would focus on Power Girl’s background as a “survivor”.
She survived her krypton, she survived multiple crisis’, had her backstory erased and restored. There are multiple Earth 2s that each have their own Power Girl on them, yet she’s the only one stuck on main comics Earth.
What is that like? To see your history constantly erased, the planet and even dimension you’re from destroyed and then rebuilt without you, to be replaced by another version of you that never went through all those battles and hardships you faced.
Anyway been thinking about the types of stories PG writers have been doing lately.
Supergirl is a survivor of krypton but PG is a survivor of realities and continuity.
How is Power Girl different from Supergirl?
I’m not talking about their physical assets or their characters’ origins. I’m talking about their personalities.
I don’t think I’ve read a Supergirl comic since the 1970s, when I remember her as a more timid, emotionally vulnerable version of Superman. I missed the whole Matrix storyline and everything that came after.
With the movie being out, I’m surprised to see some people writing about her being a kind of angry, kick ass character. Maybe it’s the comics, maybe it’s the movie. (I haven’t seen the movie.)
My question is, if that’s true, what makes her personality any different from Power Girl’s? I mean, PG has always been one of the most badass women in the DC universe. If Supergirl is now the same or similar, what makes them different aside from the physical and origin details I mentioned?

Power Girl at Fifty – In My Not So Humble Opinion
benjaminherman.wordpress.comMy fellow female/non-male PG fans—why do you like her so much?
For me, PG has always represented a multitude of things. It was her very name that drew me in at the start—Power Girl! Just a name like that had this draw to it.
As I began to read her multitude of appearances, from her 2009 run to JSA to that World’s Finest run, I found myself drawn to her headstrong attitude. In contrast to other female heroines around her, Karen really doesn’t take things from anybody. Her attitude towards life, others, and herself was a really refreshing take.
While I do love Diana, shes always empathetic and kind. It’s something to strive for, but hard to be. Karen on the other hand, while not mean, definitely isn’t afraid to make her opinion known without sugar coating it. She’s very unapologetic about who she is! When people flirt with her she isn’t oblivious and she doesn’t play nice if she’s not interested. And she can punch them really hard, which is also cool. She’s not framed as unreasonable or immature for this, or really put down for it either. I think even her costuming reflects that, “it’s a you problem, not a me problem” and “I do what I want” mentality.
Atlee worked as a really good Robin stand-in for younger me, where I imagined myself being in her place next to PG, which helped build my affinity.
Also, boobs! I’d be lying if I said those two big design aspects weren’t a draw LMAO. Anyways, I’m just curious on what others think.
Invincible and powergirl by me
As mentioned earlier, I was inspired by the Invincible comic and drew some pictures. This is one of them. In the imagined scenario, Invincible receives support from an ally from another dimension to confront the invasion of a powerful empire.

PG VS SHE-HULK 2 by me
This is a battle scene drawing practice I did a bit earlier, inspired by Invincible. At the time, I felt they had a lot in common — both professional women who might even have business dealings with each other — so I drew the third picture, haha.
"All the information you need is here."
"Hey, girl, you made me come all this way, isn't it a bit much to talk about business?
"If you come any closer, Jennifer, I'll throw you into space."
"Hmm~ then you'll have to give me CPR."
Of course, I only added those lines because I found them amusing; they aren't the actual reason they're fighting—hahaha.
