Meanwhile in my girlfriend’s prison where she is having to serve a sentence the staff repeatedly flip flopped on letting them watch the game tonight before finally deciding they couldn’t. My girlfriend isn’t even a big football fan but she was excited for a potential change in routine and something to look forward too. Our plan had been to both watch it and discuss it tomorrow.

I’m sure this will get the usual replies of ‘she’s in prison what does she expect’ but it’s hardly a big deal and I don’t get why they kept being told one thing and then the other before deciding it wasn’t allowed.

I have a friend who was sentenced for 3 years last month. he was moved to category C prison (after being held in a cat B)

and I wanted to know how to better advise him, His solicitor said he shouldn't serve more than 40% (this is not taking into account the new law so it should be 33%) .

When he has his 6 months review , what's a more likely outcome-

A cat D or Tag for the other 6 months then the other 24 months (sorry not that familiar with how it works I've heard mix opinions ). For his level he told me he's on enhanced.

And if a Cat D , Is it easy to get into? if so, how early can he have home visits?

and if not, is it more likely hell spend a year in a cat C.

the barrister even told him he would be out by February or April at the latest (however I'm not if I can trust that)

I am yet to receive my DBS certificate after submitting my pre-employment form for over 7 weeks, I have given a a call to DBS and they have told me they have nothing on the system for any application regarding me. Please what can I do ?

Also is this a yearly fitness test? I mean what about the experienced vets, how would the pass fitness at the age of 60?

She’s a young woman if that makes a difference. First time I’ve had a friend in prison, not sure if there’s anything I could bring / send her that would be any help. She’s an old friend and I’m not sure if she’s got many people in her life still.

Anyone who's passed the checks recently had the MOJ come up on their soft searches on their credit file?

I'm 25 weeks in and they've not checked mine yet, but know of some others that have had theirs checked, I'm literally on the verge of applying for other jobs at this rate 😂

Hi all, sorry if it’s been asked; I’ve just been offered an OSG role after being unsuccessful in my application to become a PO.

Does anyone know the current salary of a full time OSG working up north?

It talks a lot about progression being an OSG then becoming a PO. Has anyone ever went this route? And if so how long did it take.

I’m still in two minds on weather or not to take it. Might accept the offer and just decide when the start date comes as from what I’ve read on here it can take some time for clearance to come through from all the checks

I've been out now for 12 yrs, served time 2012-14 in Saughton Edinburgh. I've got on with my life and no more crimes but this whole time I can't seem to forget about 1 guy. He's got a no release sentence and had served 18 years when i knew him in 2013 (he was only 36 at that time) but he had been screwed by the old 3 strike violence rule. He got into fights as he was a gypsy and after the 3rd he hot hit with no trm life.

Pls if anyone knows a way that I can make contact pls help. As far as I know he's stiil in. (I know his full name but not his prison number as I threw away all my stuff the second I got released)

Up for a Cat D board soon? I thought I had a good chance but someone on my wing had just been advised he will need his English and Maths level 1 to get to a cat d is this true as online it says no?

Hello, I’m a student adult nurse and I was wondering if anyone could give me an insight into what prison nurses do on a day to day basis?

Although I’m studying adult nursing, I have a strong interest in mental health so I have been looking into prison nursing since starting my course. Do nurses attend incidents such as self harm to provide wound care or is it more routine checks such as taking observations on patients with pre existing conditions?

If any nurses (adult or mental health) or prison staff who have an understanding of the role could give me any sort of advice or information on this I’d really appreciate it!

Curious if it's possible to get into work in a prison with a criminal record or will DBS checks be the end of it?

Are they still sending out emails saying your checks are in the final stage or do they just randomly one day send you an email your checks been completed?
