So I've been hearing about this update (that is currently in beta) that in order to level up pets, you now need to merge them. I don't have it yet, but I'm wondering the max levels per merge rank. What is the highest level you can reach with merge rank 1 or 2 (which most of my pets are).
On YouTube, players have pets like River Neek, Cloud Gobbler, and Mimic at level 100, but on my Prodigy account, those pets are capped at a lower level, and it says you have to evolve the pet in order to level up more.
So, how did people get pets like these to level 100? Are they cheating or something?
I'm pretty sure we can't use duplicate pets anymore.
When I joined Prodigy for nostalgia's sake in around September of 2025, I was unknowingly joining at a very dark age. F2Ps were given zero Magicoin, so we weren't able to evolve pets. At the time, my most powerful pets were at level 40. Those being the free Shardic in Firefly Forest and a Scarrow that I managed to get from spinning the limited time Halloween wheel.
To put it simply, the gameplay was very frustrating. Enemies kept knocking out my pets and I had to use my All Out Attack in almost every single battle. Personally, my most frustrating moment was when I got stuck on the Skywatch Pippet battle. The only way to win involved me landing a crit, and praying on RNG is never fun.
When it was finally time to battle the Puppet Master, I couldn't even battle him because of the pet-capturing requirement (which we can all agree is very stupid). I thought I would be stuck at this part of the story forever, but somehow, the game randomly glitched and I was able to battle him now. Idk how that happened, but after all the pain I went through, I'll take it! (Btw, if you're wondering how the battle went, it wasn't really that hard. I've heard other people say it was insanely difficult, but I think it was easier for because my pets were underleveled. Normally, that's a bad thing, but when my pets were brought to the Puppet Master's side, they couldn't do any damage to me.) After beating the Puppet Master, I proudly wear his outfit to show that I have completed one of the biggest feats that you could ever achieve as a Prodigy F2P.
Skipping forward to the daily Magicoin update, this update was HUGE for me! Yes, saving up Magicoin is tedious, but I'm just glad that I can get ANY Magicoin to begin with. After saving up 95 Magicoin, I managed to earn my beloved Tyscout! And after another long saving period, my Scarrow got her much needed evolution, and now she hits harder than ever before! I have used Tyscout and Scarrow a lot and I have been very proud of my hard-earned team.
Time-skipping again to the Daily Magicoin Buff and cheaper pet prices, being a F2P has never been easier! My roster has grown significantly and for once, I was actually having fun! I think many of us F2Ps were having a field day at that time!
But then we get to today. Prodigy mostly removed the F2P barrier only to put it back. Now we have to merge pets in order to level up further. Like, seriously. Does Prodigy want us to have fun or not? (Tbh, I feel like they don't.) After seeing this update yesterday, I have had enough of Prodigy's cooperate greed. Until something is done about this, I am never playing this game again. I will still log in to claim my Magicoin, but congradulations, Prodigy. You have completely lost the respect of one of your grittiest players.
It's truly a shame that this merge update has popped up, but I'm still very proud of my F2P journey. I've never really gotten to share this story with anyone before, but I hope it reasonates with all you Prodigy F2Ps out there!
Great. You don't have to evolve pets to continue upgrading them now. But in order to upgrade them further, you have to rescue copies of pets you already have? Do they know how expensive some of these guys are? That's so much more expensive than just evolving. What happened here?
Btw, all the neeks and squally are above lvl 20 because I played this game back in 2019 and just came back a few months ago due to nostalgia.

i still have to rescue two more pets to battle the puppet master but if you evolve does it count as another rescue 🤔 also how many magicoins does it take to evolve a rare pet (max lvl 20) to a heroic pet
So I beat the puppet master recently, and moved to hard mode. I’m at a little hooded skill check guy but I can’t fight him until I’ve captured 37 pets. I currently have 33.
My last common to catch is the little ice dog thing, and then I think getting the pet from spring fest for eggs will count too. That puts me at 35, so I’ll have to save up magicoin for the last two.
Which made me think, you can mostly only get magicoin through a membership or playing at home. If you’re just a kid who plays at school and can’t bring your computer home, you’re just soft locked out of hard mode? Is there some workaround I’m missing?

I played a few months ago and I wasn’t terribly pleased now that they’re just giving out magicoin at random, but mostly that they ruined Tribeak (whhhhhyyyyyyyy it used to be a direct replacement for regalaxy but now it’s horrid) But I do feel a bit up to the task and I’m getting nostalgia, so thoughts?
So I'm pretty much a veteran on prodigy. Old enough that I remember when Tinyger walked on 2 legs and had torn jean shorts. That old. Now before the big update of redesigned pets I had 2 nebulites. And when they were redesigned I still had them. But uh, I was inactive for about a year and when I came back to more updates, I saw 2 things. One, the pet selection was changed, and two, my second nebulite was gone. Idk how or why this happened but that stung. I had those nebulites since grade 4 and it really bothered me when I came back to one gone. What caused this? I want my baby back :c
