Anyone mailed a stone in for a custom setting?

Thinking about mailing a loose gemstone to have Provence set it. Before I commit:

  1. has anyone done this before? How’d it go?
  2. Any worries about the stone getting swapped or damaged?
  3. What did shipping/insurance/customs look like, and roughly what did it cost?
