Need help new Congo puffer.

I’m new to this. Apologize for my ignorance.

Bought this puffer from Predatory Fins 5 days ago (Tuesday). When I put the puffer in my tank, I gave him frozen blood worms and he didn't eat it. I thought it was strange, but figured maybe because he literally just got into a new tank - he wasn't going to eat.
I kept trying to give frozen blood worms and a snail but he wouldn't eat in front of me.

Yesterday (thursday) | put in a small piece of raw shrimp and he didn't eat it, so | left it in there and walked away. I couldn't tell if he actually ate it or not so I ended up throwing out the shrimp after 3 hours.

The kid at predatory fins told me they feed the puffers vibra bites and raw cut shrimp. I found it hard to believe but I gave it a try and bought some vibra bites, anddd he didn't eat that either.

Now I see these white spots on his skin. What can this be? It doesn't look like Ich. I have a Siamese algae eater, 1 pea puffer. Tank has been cycling for 1 month now with those two fish inside. Water is clean. Tested the water with those strips. No nitrites. Some (20-40) nitrates.

I noticed the pea puffer pecking at him. Can it be from trauma or something else ?

Researching for a potential future puffer?

Please be friendly. Context is, I very sadly lost my Bristlenose last night after nearly a decade of having her, after a heater malfunction I caught too late. She was my last inhabitant and the tank is turned off now. I'm not ready to get back into it just yet, but before losing her, I'd been looking into Spotted Congo Puffers. I don't know if I'll ever have the drive to get back into the hobby, but I want to at some point, and these puffers are what I've latched onto that could potentially reignite the hobby for me. (And yes, I've already planned possible future solutions like a temperature controller and a more obvious - even if a little less accurate - colour based stick on thermometer.

Anyway. If I were to get back into the hobby, it'll likely be due to a puffer. The Spotted Congo jumped out to me based on what I read about not needing other puffers as company (I'd prefer a single puffer), relatively peaceful nature, not needing teeth trimming, and not needing an enormous tank.

But I'd like advice here, please. Is what I've read actually accurate? What is the smallest size tank they can comfortably live in? (I need to be able to have the tank upstairs in my UK council house, preferably on a sturdy chest of drawers.) What else can you tell me about them, please? Try and put me off if you need to, or suggest another species - whilst I like pea puffers I'd prefer something different as a) I'd prefer something slightly larger, and b) I'd really like just the one special puffer fish. <3

Thanks so much for any help! Bonus picture of perfect Poppy <3

John Update:

My boy keeps growing so he'll be getting a new tank in the next few months. He also chipped a tooth! Here he is clearly not struggling to eat but im wondering if they'll even out or if I should trim it? I'll post a photo in the comments.

Meet Chubbles!

I got this speckled cutie about a month ago. I was so sad that my LFS only had one. I’m currently cycling its brackish 60 gallon tank and will be transferring him next week slowly working up to full salt. Hope to find some friends in the meantime!

Need help with my amazon puffers

Need help with my amazon puffers

Its been about 2 - 3 months sense ive gotten my puffers and I ended up getting 3 for my heavily planted 40 gallon breeder. One had gotten bit in the store and was healed up to a safe point. But now im noticing the slightest white specs only a few the if I can see right but its very hard to see when they move all the time.

On the other hand I have kanaplex and ich- x but I do not have another aquarium to put them in. I have 5 kaluli loaches and 10 white clouds in there aswel. The picture is the best i can get. Just explain exactly what I need to do to treat them in there tank and what I will need. Btw I havent dosed any Medication or done anything besides water changes so if what I have isnt right I will pick it up tomorrow ( god willing )

How often do yours puff up?

Up until this week I had never seen any of mine puff up (and I have 14 now!), but Tuesday from the corner of my eye I caught the Cross River at my office puffing up. He's pushing 22cm now and he looked absolutely huge inflated! Unfortunately by the time I got my phone and opened the camera he was already deflated and back to normal. I took note of the time and it was 5:20pm. Then 2 days later, yesterday, at 5:40pm I saw him do it again! He was already deflating when I saw him and again I totally missed capturing it on my phone. He just took a couple of breaths and went about his business like nothing happened immediately after.

Now I can't help but keep my eye on him when it's around this time, but this can't be a daily habit right? How often are we talking about? I really want to capture it on camera. I'm fairly certain nothing startled him or stressed him out, he's definitely the boss of the tank, so I'm really wondering what's triggering him to do it and how often I can expect to witness this magnificent sight!

Never had puffers

So 7 years ago I bought a 10 gallon square tall tank kit on sale at Petsmart. 50 bucks, light, hob filter, heater, ect. I set it up, cycled, planted, cycled. Got 10 shrimp idk what kind, 3 snails, let it ride a month. Well established all good. Bought a sickly looking beta for 3 dollars and he perked up and lived 5 years. He passed one day, I didn't get another, gave the shrimp and snails to a friend and tore down the tank. It's been in storage since. I recently discovered pea puffers here on reddit, and I think they're crazy cool! Would my 10 gallon tall be ok for them? I will plant heavy. I didn't know for a long time my tall tank wasn't good for bettas, I had 2 layers of resting space for him if that makes sense. Appreciate any input.
