Booking a Jetstar flight using QFF points - nightmare…

I have recently booked a flight on Jetstar website and try to reduce the price by using my FF points.

At checkout, they had that option and requested me to log into my FF, all good. I selected the number of points I wanted to redeem, got the discount then went ahead to payment, paid with PayID.

Booking done then Jetstar informed me i have to pay the remaining amount which should have been deducted through QFF, or they wont send me my flight confirmation.

The point redemption thing obviously didnt go through for some reason and now they want me to pay up the price before discount… Very false advertising when encouraging people to use QFF and show up a false price only to ask you pay in full later.

Contacted Jetstar, they told me to call Qantas. Called Qantas they said it was on Jetstar website so they take no responsibility.

Of course…these two clowns.

So in general, save yourself a headache and dont do what I did. Will give Qantas another call tomorrow but just for entertainment purposes I guess 😂

Been saving my points and finally going to use it for the first time. Looking to fly LHR > SYD return.

I have a few questions. Flying business is my preference

  1. are there any sites that help look at all flight partners that allow you to use Qantas points? When I use the Qantas site, there’s barely anything available.

What options do I have and how do I best navigate this purchasing journey as it’s my first time.

Thanking you all in advance

Different flight pricing as they track your internet usage?

Saw a video reel that this couple had to go to the local library to find out that the flight pricing offered is completely different to what is presented to them using their home browser (cheaper using library browser).

Apparently they tried using vpn, incognito but they still charged higher price at home.

Not sure if this happens in Australia or like in the US? Have you experienced/heard of this? Apparently the flight provider tracked your site search using cookies and if they know you've been looking for flights, it jacks up the price. Tell me this is not real?

Transferring through Dallas advice (Aus > Dallas > Zurich

Hi all, I have a single ticket Sydney > Zurich, which has a 2hour transit in Dallas. Has anyone done this flight or transit before?

I cannot seem to get a straight answer from anyone at Qantas, where the App provides information that bags are checked through and don't need to collect in Dallas but just go through immigration and onto next flight. The Qantas website on Dallas says there's an ITI for Qantas and AA at Dallas which seems to confirm this is possible. But when I've rung Qantas to confirm, they've told me I'll need to collected bags and re-check, (and then seperately said the bags are checked and no need to collect). I keep gettng different stories, so if anyone has recently done a AUS to EUROPE via the US on a single flight with Dallas, love to hear your experience. Qantas equally won't tell me if my additional Gold luggage allowance will apply to the entire flight, but said I'll definitely get 3x32kg bags to Dallas but after this they arn't sure what I am allowed or how much extra baggage costs. I understand the second flight is AA operated, but surely if QF are selling a single ticket like this, they should be able to provide some straight answers.

Booking

Hi all.

I am trying to book Qantas Reward flights for early May to Tokyo next year. I have my dates and plans roughly organised, so I want to book ahead as much as possible to not miss out on getting them.

I cannot work out why May is not available yet. Qantas economy flights are usually available 353 days in advance, except this does not seem to be the case at the moment.

Have I missed something / has something changed?

Thanks for any help!

Apparently not all QF flights can be credit to One World partners

I used my Cathay FF account when I booked the ticket. Two weeks after the trip, it still hasn’t shown up in my Cathay account. Then I found out that Economy Sale fare classes aren’t eligible.
At least in the end I was able to submit a missing points claim in Qantas and got 1,000 Qantas points per leg.

Thoughts?

I’m booked to fly back this morning and received this message last night about the inflight and wifi.

I know it’s a short flight and I’ll probably watch stuff on my phone anyway, but I really felt it was another quality Qantas move to trim the customer experience more and save some bucks.

Guess I’m disappointed as a frequent flyer and just more generally as an Aussie, given this our “National Carrier”.

Welcome thoughts.

(Also same problem on the way down to Brisbane, yet no curiosity text?).

Emirates premium economy redemption

Is 150,000points good value for a one way premium economy fare from Europe to Australia?
I know most economy fares are 40-60k points.

Missed my Jetstar flight by 1 minute after a Qantas connection… never again

First time trying Jetstar for the Brisbane → Townsville leg instead of sticking with Qantas, and wow… lesson learned.
Flew Sydney → Brisbane on Qantas, which ended up delayed by about an hour. No big deal, figured I had enough buffer. Even used a lounge pass (earned through points) at the Qantas lounge while waiting.

What I didn’t factor in?
Jetstar gates at Brisbane are miles away from the Qantas lounge.

Left what I thought was plenty of time, got to the gate… and they had already shut the door. Missed it by literally 1 minute. No flexibility, no help, just “gate closed.”
I get it, rules are rules—but the contrast was pretty stark:
Qantas delay on the inbound

Qantas lounge access nowhere near the departure gate
Jetstar zero tolerance on the outbound
End result: stranded over 60 seconds.

I know this is partly on me (tight-ish connection + lounge complacency), but it’s a pretty rough combo when you mix the two airlines.

Safe to say I’ll be sticking to Qantas for this route going forward.

Curious if others have been caught out by the Brisbane lounge → Jetstar gate trek?

LAX vs DFW

If you had to pick between the two which one would you fly into? No connecting flight just figuring how to structure a holiday.

More focused on the customs experience etc, Do you get through quicker at one? Are they more friendly at one or the other? etc.

Can QFF Gold/Plat/Qantas Club access Qantas International lounges on Classic Reward Flights on Jetstar?

Hello everybody,

I’m a Qantas Club member. If I book a classic reward seat through Qantas on a Jetstar flight (say to NZ) can I still access the Qantas international lounges?

This is after the eligibility requirements change on 1st July.

Thanks.

Frequent flyer credit card and Square

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if this is possible:

My partner has a Square POS which is linked to her own bank account and I was thinking that I could get a FF credit card which usually requires a large purchase within 90 days to get ~100,000 points and use it on her Square.

I know that there will be some loss with fees etc but for a one off use would it be beneficial?

Thanks!

QF81/82 still at A380?

Hi all, can I ask if anyone has access to loadings on QF82 on 28/6/26? Looks like its an A380 with plenty of first and business class seats on Expertflyer seat map but not many seats for sale on website?

Im thinking its either a plane swap or a whole bunch of people have not selected their seats but the former is more likely.

QF F Amenity Kit + Pajamas

Looking for opinions on the QF F new amenity kit and pajamas. Are they an improvement over the previous version? Are these current on all QF F long haul? Travelling with 2 kids - don't think they will fit in them.

Couldn't find another post on it apart from one on the amenity kit from 5 months ago.

Sydney international/domestic transfer on non-through ticket

We are traveling from the US, through Sydney to Cairns. Unfortunately, we booked the Cairns flight separately since we didn’t know our in-country itinerary when we booked the original international flight. We are not sure if we will be able to get our bags tagged from our departure city all the way to Cairns, since we aren’t sure we will be able to check-in to our SYD->CNS when we direct check bags in the US. So we may need our bags retagged in Sydney to our Cairns destination. Can we still use the Qantas Domestic Transfer desk and service? Can the transfer desk retag our bags for our final destination or are we forced to exit, change terminals, then go through normal bag check and security? We are flying business class from the US if that happens to change anything.
TIA!!

LAX advice

Hi team, I’ve flying qantas through LAX and then on an AA flight to Europe. Stopover at LAX is 3.5hrs - which at the time of booking I thought would be plenty of time but I’m now stressing after hearing horror stories. Is there anything I can do to prepare to make sure that 3.5 hrs is enough time to board the AA flight?

Booked Qantas Premium Economy… seated in Economy

I booked a premium economy sale ticket on Qantas from Auckland, NZ to Albuquerque, NM, USA for ~$1000 a person. I can’t remember why, but I booked through the chase portal with my sapphire reserved card (it was the same price as in Qantas). My original email from Chase says the flight is going to be on a Boeing 787-9, which has a premium economy section. A couple of months ago I got an automated notification that I was downgraded, but when I called Chase they couldn’t figure out why I got that email and what was happening. Today, I noticed my flight has changed to an Airbus A330-200 which has no premium economy section. Why has this happened? It seems this flight (QF15) is always operated on an Airbus A330-200. I’m feeling like I got scammed. Any advice when dealing with Chase?
