Tried flashing firmware on a k5 V3 and now it won't turn on!

Exactly as my title says, I tried to flash Kamilsss655 version 20.5 to a K5 without realising there were different versions of the same radio and different firmwares for each one. The device no longer powers on. Is it possible to un-fuck this machine or is it a useless bit of plastic now?

(Before people get on my ass for doing this, not a single video I watched on the matter had mentioned anything about different radio types and firmware and it was my friend who bought the radio, he gave it to me to flash)

Fusion 5.5 - Newbie Questions - uv-5 (8) v3

Hello Everybody,

yesterday I received my uv-5 (8) v3.

I did the dump

backup up the default frequencies
flashed Fusion 5.5
did the reset via hidden menu

I downloaded the csv frequency files via chirp to use them on the device.

My Problem: On windows, I don't know the correct path where to put the py driver file. When I try to flash the csv file I get an error.

Could you guys please help me?

UV-K5 continues to transmit after releasing PTT

When using my Quansheng UV-K5 radio (original V1 chip, stock firmware), I noticed that when I release the PTT that it continues to transmit for about 2 seconds.

Is there a way that I can turn this off in either CHIRP or on the radio itself? Or is this just normal phenomena that I will just have to get used to?

VUURWERK firmware v1.2.7 is out, UV-K5 V1 only

Dropping an update if anyone's running VUURWERK or has been curious. Custom firmware I've been working on for my UV-K5. Big jump since the last public release (v1.2.4).

The spectrum analyzer got reworked: SIDE1 and SIDE2 step frequency up and down now, MENU is blacklist, STAR cycles modes with a label that flashes so you can actually see which mode you're in.

CTCSS scanner works. Pre-checks if there's a signal on the frequency before scanning, so dead air gives you a quick "NO SIGNAL" instead of a 30-second timeout. Locks onto tones in a few seconds now.

Battery indicator updates live during TX instead of freezing the moment you key up. There's a TX sag tracker on the About screen if you want to see how your pack is holding up over time. Flashlight auto-off after 30 minutes (10 on a low pack) so a pocket bump doesn't drain your radio overnight.

TX audio is cleaner, the 1 kHz whine from the backlight PWM is gone. Credit on the approach to kamilsss655 / NUNU who first bench-validated that fix.

Plus a bunch of small polish: boot self-check, backlight fade, scan rate readout, key gesture toasts, audible cues in voice-seek mode.

All in all my experience has been its much snapier and responsive than V 1.2.4 would like to hear your findings.

uvk5 HF mod on version 2.1 motherboard

Hello,

Has anyone figured this out? I have the version 5 HF mod board for the uvk5. Unfortunately, my radio has a version 2.1 motherboard and the components that you solder jumper wires to are not there on the left side. Also there are some components on the motherboard that are underneath the antenna connector side of the motherboard. Hoping that this has an easy solution or workaround. I have searched for the past 3 hours and not found anything helpful.

Why cant i hear FM radio broadcasts in VFO mode?

Running F4HWNv4.3 on UV-K5(8)v2 (but same with any other firmware).

In dedicated FM mode i hear all radio channels just fine, but in VFO FM there is nothing but noise. Fagci scanner shows station peaks and gives some semblance of audio information, but still incredibly noisy. Why is that?

Disclaimer: total noob, got into this hobby like a week ago, asking this question purely to learn. If i had to guess, FM mode captures a wider range and mushes it into a legible sound. Even if that is not the case... Is there some way to do the same in VFO mode?
