Rivian "purer" than Tesla? Cleantechnica
https://cleantechnica.com/2026/05/20/rivian-has-the-perfect-opening/
finally getting some good press.
Called this support test a week ago - Do we see continued momentum now?
A perfect, clean touch of support as pointed out a week ago while showing TradeRadar. The touch and then beginning of a push back up is really encouraging. The shares and Calls are printing at the moment...
Now that we got ourselves a green day, do you expect to see continued momentum or a fakeout. Sure, it could go either way but I can't help but feel like in the short term we will see a further climb.
AMA with Wassym Bensaid, Rivian Chief Software Officer – R2 Software Platform | Thursday, May 21st
👋 Hey everyone!
We're excited to share that on Thursday, May 21st, we'll welcome Wassym Bensaid, Rivian's Chief Software Officer, to answer your questions on R2’s software platform. Wassym is really looking forward to his “official” return to the Rivian Reddit community in his third AMA!
He'll be able to discuss how R2 encompasses the richness of everything you know in R1, all the new features unlocked by the capabilities of the hardware, and more. This is a great time to ask what has been on your mind about Rivian, vehicles, and product experiences. We ask:
- Keep it to one question per comment so that Wassym can answer as many as possible while we have him.
- Make sure to upvote or downvote comments.
Feel free to post your questions from now until Thursday when Wassym will sit down and answer live from the Palo Alto office between 11:30am-3pm PST. Be on the lookout for u/WassymRivian (he'll have a "Rivian Official" flair to help distinguish him).
We don’t expect Wassym will be able to get to everything, but he truly hopes to answer as much as he can during this time! Give him a warm welcome and drop your question below ⬇️
Autonomy Meh
Recently bought a Gen 2 Rivian R1S and it came with the 60-day Autonomy+ trial, which is ending soon. Honestly, after owning a Tesla with FSD, I really don’t see the value in paying for Autonomy+ in its current form.
To me, it basically feels like adaptive cruise control with lane assist. It keeps lane and distance well enough, but there’s no real “autonomy” to it. It won’t change lanes on its own, handle stop signs/lights, or drive point-to-point like Tesla FSD does.
I am pleased with the Rivian overall, but this feature feels very far behind what Tesla is doing today.
Does anyone know what Rivian’s roadmap/timeline is for getting Autonomy+ closer to true point-to-point driving or something comparable to FSD? If it eventually gets there, I’d definitely consider subscribing, but right now I’m struggling to see the value.
Say what you want about "drawings", but Rivian has been on the same trend for over a year now
I know there'll be technical analysis haters but at least consider that repeatedly for over a year now, these level has proven as a great buying opportunity (NFA though, do your own DD). Considering the steady stream of neutral to positive news and consistent price action, what are your thoughts on the short-mid term?
I've included the recent news for discussion relevance. Seeing Volkswagen continue their investment during R2 hype among other things makes me happy in the long term while the chart makes me happy in the short-mid term
