Bought this Ally X off Facebook marketplace yesterday, mint condition he said he literally hasn’t played a game on it since he bought it for $950 NZD ($540 USD). Did I do alright here?
For anybody buying or selling, how’s the best way to pay or be paid for the system? Or is 700 to 800 cash the only way to safely do it.
Would you guys return and exchange or do you find this as not a big problem? Also I tightened the screws on the right side but still creates this creek
I stumbled upon this device at a thrift store for $645, and I’m left wondering if it’s worth my time and money to purchase it.
I bought my Ally X to replace my first-gen LCD Steamdeck and just ordered the XG GPU dock with the 5070 Ti. And now eyeing the XREAL ROG glasses, essentially going all in on my Ally X setup.
I'm thinking of just selling off my gaming PC and using the Ally X setup to cover all my PC gaming. Got me thinking: has anyone else decided to move from a dedicated PC setup to what I'm moving towards?
I primarily work on a Mac Studio and have two lab PCs (i9 14900K and Ampere 64c CPU) that I use for IaC and K8S development, so my gaming PC was used strictly for gaming. Since I got the Ally X a few weeks back, it hasn't even been powered on.
I’m seriously considering buying a ROG Ally X, but I’m worried I’ll regret spending that much.
A bit about me: I have a work laptop, but I don’t want to game at a desk. I usually relax in bed or on the couch, so a handheld seems like the perfect fit.
The last console I owned was a PS2 when I was about 12. I played games like Crash Bandicoot, Spider-Man, The Sims, Winx Club, etc. Since then, I’ve mostly played mobile or lightweight games (Transformice, PUBG Mobile, etc.), so I feel like I missed out on years of gaming.
Now that I finally have adult money, I want to treat myself. I don’t even know what genres I’ll love yet—I just want to try everything, from AAA games to indie and cozy games
For people who own a ROG Ally X: Do you still use it? Any regrets? Based on my situation, do you think I’d enjoy it, or is there something I should know before buying?
Thanks!
So, I got my Ally X yesterday and so far I'm loving it. As soon as I got it I set up I bought and downloaded some games, some of them where very small, like not even 5gb. Only thing is I went to play one called 'leaf it alone' it's very small game and I do believe the battery percentage was 90% and above when I had started but I didn't even get to finish the game (only took me 2.7hrs) and I already had to put it on charge. I switched to windows mode so it wasn't draining the battery to much. I know it wasn't the lowest it could be but it was only a small game so I didn't think it mattered to much.
I just want to know, as it says for small games like that you can get a max of like 10hr playtime.
Since then I've put my fps limiter to 40, resolution to 900 and turned off the cpu boost. I tried playing Detroit: Become human and sometimes it'll stutter.
Unsure of what to do as I'm not very intelligent when it comes to handheld stuff as this is my first, any advice would help. Thank you
"While Bazzite used to be the obvious choice before, Steam OS has recently been proving itself to be excellent.
I'm planning to install Linux on my Xbox Rog Ally X today. Can you advise me on which one I should choose?
Key factors:
· Not exactly official game copies like emulating or games that not exist on any platform like OG San Andreas (not all of them, but some, especially for performance testing)
· Quality updates that don't degrade the console's performance
· An intuitive interface
· Other launchers like GOG, etc.
I'm looking for something that feels familiar like Win11 but isn't such a piece of garbage (the last update is terrifying), something that's better suited for gaming and doesn't force me to constantly dig through 10 menus and deal with their conflicts.
And which one comes better configured 'out of the box' — Steam OS or Bazzite — for the Xbox Ally X?
Thanks."
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if the thumbstick on the ROG Xbox Ally X is designed to be removable, or if I accidentally broke it.
Is replacing this part difficult? Can it be done as a DIY repair, or should I take it to an ASUS service center?
Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi guys,
I bought my Rog Ally X a week ago and love it so far. However, I've been running into an issue where it crashes on every initial startup.
It simply freezes about 3 seconds after getting to the Windows login screen. After a few minutes a black screen appears with a 'Critical process died' error. After another few minutes it will proceed to the BIOS. When I fully shut down the device by holding down the power button and reboot it once more, everything works fine. If I turn it off and boot it a bit later, the process will start all over.
Has anyone run into a similar issue and found a solution?
Things I've tried so far:
- Update drivers
- Update Windows
- Run Diagnostics in the MyAsus app, nothing appears wrong.
- Disabled 'Fast boot' in BIOS.
Is there something else I could try or should I just return it and ask for a new one at this point?
Any suggestions on how to get Avowed running well? I’m new to this handheld thing and cannot get the right settings. I’m running at 720 and have set gpu to 10g. The quality is still pretty grainy
How can I remove this gray bar on top only when I game cloud on game pass pls and thank you
My current bios version is 317 in Armoury Crate and there is no any newer. Should I do anything?
After purchasing the asus rog xbox ally x, everything was fine, but after some update or changing settings, every game started to stutter—whether at 40 FPS or 110. Temperatures are normal. I reinstalled Windows, and the same issue persists. Please advise what to do.
I found someone online who can upgrade the chips on the ROG X-Box ally X to 64 from 24.... I have never had this done before so not sure is this legit? If I had it done can it mess up my device? would my device first it like a virus? is hardware different from software as far as system accepting it? It's not cheap but not that expensive for what it should be capable of when done. This device should rival any larger one. Only problem is this shitty small ass screen.
I'm doing dual boot sorry should have mentioned in title
Asus rog xbox ally x is more powerful than i think. Now I can play much more. It's gave me more fun than gaming on my PC (ryzen 7 5700x, rtx 2070, 32gb ram).
It's good gaming machine for parent. I have a daughter and I don't have much time to play on PC.
Hi everyone, I launch Sekiro non steam version but could not use controller. Any help?
