[Rado Golden Horse] Crimson and Gold

Probably the most beautiful watch I own.

Rado Golden Horse from the 60s.

36,5mm of diameter.

Slick and thin. Doesn't scream for attention but yet can't get my eyes out of it.

Between classy and casual.

A very good daily for me.

As summer is coming and skin gets tanned, gold is even better.

I'd love to read your opinions about it!

Ps: I don't even like modern Rado watches.. I just like their old models haha

Found this watch at thrift store

Hello everyone can you please help me identify the model of this watch? I bought it from a thrift store for $5. They are stopped and I was wondering if it's worth it to fix them? It also has a small crack on the glass but I'm not too fussed about it. Cheers.

Found a long lost Rado Green Gazelle

My mom went through her belongings and came across a watch that belonged to my dad. They forgot about it and probably was kept away for more than 20 years. It runs but the Rado logo seems to be loose and the bracelet has been swapped.

Does anyone have information about this watch? I’m considering of having it serviced.

Rubber strap is a game changer

Stopped wearing my 2012 d star 200 because the bracelet wasn’t comfortable compared to really any of my other watches. Bought the oem rubber strap and cut to size then put on a deployment clasp and now it wears 100x better and will get much more use

Rado cerix back removal

Anyone have any experience with removal of this back for battery replacement? I’ve had many watches apart but this one is ceramic and I’m told there might be some tricks for removal. I have found two slots 180 degrees apart that look like traditional prying slots and I have gently tried prying but don’t want to cause any damage.

Thanks!

1970s Rado Voyager GT

My grandpa owned this watch and so it was passed down from him to me, but formally given by my mother as she had gone to the extent of finding stores and authorized dealers to repair it.

It’s a 11814/1GT, fair amount of scratches accumulated over the years. Internal rust on the hands, semi-freely moving logo, and winding feels as though it doesn’t create the necessary energy for it to run.

I’m well aware that these watches are automatic by nature, and so I’d give it a try to rest it on a perpetuating object and it would function for maybe a couple of hours. Power reserve of maybe 5-6 hours at best, winding does not affect movement anymore and so natural sway of the wrist is the only option at this point.

As a student, I feel the sudden urge to want to find an authorized repair shop that can bring it back to life but such an urge will have to wait until I can fund the repairs myself.

Anyhow, this post was only to write about my grandpa’s watch and make me wonder the kind of person he was during this period of time.

I’m stuck in a bit of a dilemma and need some perspective from the watch community.

A couple of months back, my then-fiancée gifted me a beautiful Rado. It’s a clean piece, classic ceramic, and honestly, it looks great on the wrist. The problem? Well, she turned out to be a serial cheater, the engagement blew up, and now every time I look down to check the time, I’m reminded of a woman who couldn't stay faithful.

On one hand, it’s a high-quality Swiss watch that I didn't have to pay a dime for. On the other hand, the "bad juju" attached to it is starting to weigh heavier than the ceramic.

Should I just appreciate the craftsmanship and keep it as a "win" from a bad situation? Or should I sell it, wash my hands of the memories, and use the cash to fund something I actually chose for myself?

What would you guys do? Keep the piece or cut the ties?
