Just realised this is worth a ton!

I was picking through my meagre collection and off to the side i have a few sealed albums that I wanted to keep for later. Because we’re moving, and on a whim, i decided to check a few on discogs. Was pleasantly surprised that a few of my sealed albums are worth a bit. But i nearly fell off the chair when i checked this album.

I bought it many years ago because I knew Jorja Smith’s uncle through work. I was going to get it signed but never did. Just discovered how much it’s worth!!

That said, I doubt anyone is looking for it! But a sealed, mint copy is nice to have!

What records have you got that you’ve been shocked are worth more than you thought possible?

Can someone help me identify what this exact vinyl would be called? We got it signed at Coachella I believe in 2011. Is it a torches ep?

Bought this rare portuguese prog rock album

José Cid's 10 000 anos entre Vénus e Marte is so hard to find but me and my gf where looking for this album for a long time, so when I saw this in a record store we knew we needed to have it, it is a must have for any prog rock fan.

If you have never heard this album go listen to it right now it is the peak of portuguese prog rock.

Inherited almost 400 78rpm’s

Not here to sell, just learning.

Learning about 78’s because I have ~ 400 of them, collected by my father who died over 20 years ago. All have remained stored for about the last 70 years. They date from 1926 (hillbilly, jazz) to 1940’s (jazz, swing) from King Cole Trio to Elvis, from Andrew’s Sisters to Harry James, Glenn Miller, Pete Como, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, etc.

The collection theme is dance music— rumba, cha cha, Lindy hop, foxtrot— etc.

Have sorted and catalogued them all, not played them to hear quality —so it seems I am unable to properly grade them without listening. I rate them visually from G-( minus) to G+ (plus).

Any suggestions on how I prepare these or who to contact with such a large collection?
( Besides Nauck, already on my list.)

That one time I found a Charley Patton Paramount 1378 disc 5 min. Down the road from me… 🤯

So yeah , there I was.. One day from becoming a new father getting ready to load the car for the hospital stay , scrolling the app "Nextdoor" the one where neighbors keep tabs and talk shit on one another etc. I get a random message from a lady asking if I was the guy who bought records ?? I told her yes without even questioning (I think now it’s linked to your Facebook) she said she lived with her father who had a small box of country records in his closet .. normally I would have politely declined being that I had a pretty full schedule but I said "he’ll, it’s 2 minutes from my house" lemme go see what he’s got…. I barely made it out of that house with my knees still strong enough to carry my body. Along with this disc I pulled a Blind Lemon Jefferson , some good Cajun on local labels and a few more nice pre war hillbilly disc. Made it back home with enough time to make it to the hospital on time! I would have never heard the end of that ..
