[MASSIVE HACK] How to get up to 10% Cashback/Rewards on Gold purchases using this Merchant Category Code (MCC) glitch!

[MASSIVE HACK] How to get up to 10% Cashback/Rewards on Gold purchases using this Merchant Category Code (MCC) glitch!

As most of us credit card geeks know, buying gold or jewelry usually gets heavily excluded from reward points or milestone spends by almost all major banks.

However, I stumbled upon a massive loophole that bypasses the "Jewelry" MCC restriction entirely and tags the transaction under Apparel instead, allowing you to rack up massive cashback.

Here is exactly how the trick works, step-by-step:

🛠️ The Myntra x PhonePe UPI Trick

The secret lies in purchasing gold via Myntra (specifically digital gold or SKUs like Mia by Tanishq) using a very specific payment routing method:

  1. Use a Desktop Browser: Do not use the Myntra mobile app. Log into the desktop website.
  2. Select "Scan & Pay": When you reach the checkout/payment page, choose the "Scan & Pay" option.
  3. The Gateway: This action forces open the PhonePe Payment Gateway interface.
  4. Complete the Payment: Use any Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, or RuPay) to pay via that gateway.

>

Because of how the PhonePe gateway handles the desktop routing for Myntra, the transaction gets tagged under the Apparel MCC.

💰 The Effective Rates (Massive Savings)

Since the bank sees this as a clothing/apparel purchase, you get full reward rates. Here is what you can get if you use the right cards:

  • Equitas Selfe: (5X rewards on the Apparel category $\rightarrow$ roughly ~10% value back at Diamond Tier). Brings 1g down to ~₹14.39k basis todays' market price.
  • Axis Flipkart Credit Card: Gives ~7.5% cashback on Myntra. Brings 1g down to ~₹14.8k basis todays' market price.
  • SBI Cashback / PhonePe Select: Gives a flat 5% cashback. Brings 1g down to ~₹15.2k basis todays' market price.

Make the most of Blinkdeal offer on MYNTRA with your favorite credit cards.

Note: If you want to be 100% sure before doing a massive transaction, you can do a small test run and call bank customer care 2-3 days later to confirm the MCC assigned to the settlement.

🧪 Want to test it out?

If you want to try the trick with a low-value item first to ensure your specific card is tracking it as apparel, you can test it on this lowest-priced Mia by Tanishq 1gm SKU:

Mia by Tanishq 1 Gm 🔗- https://myntr.it/q6SET64

💳 Don't have these cards yet?

If you want to maximize this loop before it inevitably gets patched, you can apply for the best-suited cards directly using the fast-track links below:

Let me know if you guys try this out or if you find any other cards that give insane multipliers on apparel!

P.S: Enjoy until this loophole continues on gold purchase through credit cards

Amerruk Marrakech (new Marriott) just opened on points — 92k for 3 nights at the cheapest, and it pairs perfectly with a Morocco trip

Posting this because the property just went live on Bonvoy and the launch pricing is genuinely worth talking about, especially if you've been considering Morocco.

Quick context from my own trip planning

For anyone considering Morocco — Marrakech felt a lot like exploring the older, chaotic parts of Delhi, but with a completely different flavour. Wonderfully vibrant, intense, sensory overload in the best way. The medina alleys, the souks, the calls to prayer cutting through it all.

The new Amerruk becomes an easy choice on Bonvoy redemptions. The second you step inside, the noise and heat of the city just vanish — it's like finding a secret garden oasis. Architecture is stunning, those typical Moroccan riad-style courtyards are something else, but it feels properly modern. For anyone hesitant about navigating Morocco for the first time, this place is the perfect luxury sanctuary with a fab points deal.

The numbers maths

Booking I want to lock :

  • Feb 1-4, 2027 (3 nights): 92,000 points vs $1,794 cash (~₹1,49,800) on Member Flexible → ~₹1.63 per Bonvoy point
  • Even against the Prepay Non-refundable rate of $1,620 (~₹1,35,300), it's still ~₹1.47 per point

That's roughly ₹50,000/night in cash terms, getting it for ~30.7k points/night. For a brand new Marriott property in Marrakech with Atlas Mountains views — this is some of the best Bonvoy value I've seen on an international redemption.

Calendar reading (next 6 months)

  • Feb 1, 2027: 92,000 — the absolute cheapest date across the entire year. This is the floor.
  • Jan 18, 2027: 95,500 LOW — second cheapest week
  • Nov 29-30, 2026: 100,500 LOW — earliest available LOW dates
  • March 28 – April 15, 2027: 105,000 LOW — longest LOW stretch (perfect weather window before summer heat)
  • March 7, 2027: 101,000 — single LOW date in March
  • Avoid for points: Christmas/New Year week (150k), late April onwards once it jumps to 150k

Why this makes sense as part of a larger Morocco trip

Marrakech is rarely a standalone trip. The real magic is the loop:

  • Marrakech (3-4 nights) — souks, Jemaa el-Fnaa, Majorelle Garden, day trip to Atlas Mountains
  • Sahara desert (2 nights) — Merzouga or Zagora, camel trek, desert camp under the stars
  • Fes (2 nights) — older, more traditional medina, leather tanneries
  • Chefchaouen (1-2 nights) — the blue city, very Instagram-worthy
  • Casablanca/Rabat — quick add-on for the flight back

Amerruk slots in perfectly as your luxury base in Marrakech, especially at the start when jet lag hits.

For Indian travellers specifically

  • Visa: e-Visa available for Indian passport holders, fairly straightforward
  • Flights: Best routings via Doha (Qatar), Dubai (Emirates/flydubai), or Istanbul (Turkish). Round-trip economy from Delhi/Mumbai typically ₹55-75k
  • Best time: October-April (avoid June-August summer heat which is brutal)

Why act on this

  1. Launch pricing on new Marriott properties never lasts. They correct within 6-12 months.
  2. ₹1.4-1.6 INR/point on an international redemption is exceptional — most international Marriotts give you ~₹0.8-1.0/point.
  3. Free cancellation till 30 days before lets you hold dates while planning the rest of the trip.
  4. The shoulder months (Feb-April) have the best weather + lowest points pricing — that's a rare alignment.

If you've got Bonvoy points from Amex MR transfers or hotel stays, this is the kind of redemption they're meant for. Lock LOW dates now, cancel if plans change.

Happy to answer questions on the booking, transfer ratios from Amex MR, or Morocco itinerary planning.

How to get a permanent 18–19% discount on ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, iCloud, and YouTube Premium using right Credit Cards

How to get a permanent 18–19% discount on ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, iCloud, and YouTube Premium using right Credit Card

If you are paying full price for monthly digital subscriptions (AI tools, OTT platforms, cloud storage, or in-app purchases), you are leaving a lot of money on the table.

By stacking platform discounts, loyalty points, and the right credit card strategy, you can effectively knock 18–19% (or even more) off your Apple App Store and Google Play Store balances.

Here is the exact step-by-step breakdown of how to loop this strategy for maximum savings.

🛠️ The Core Strategy: The Flipkart Loop

Instead of letting your credit card or UPI get billed directly by Apple or Google, you buy official digital gift cards via Flipkart, load them to your account, and let your subscriptions deduct from that balance.

📊 How the Savings Stack Up (The Math)

  1. 4% Instant Discount: Flipkart frequently offers a flat upfront discount on these specific digital vouchers.
  2. 10% Back in SuperCoins: You earn 10% of the value back as Flipkart SuperCoins. Because 1 SuperCoin = ₹1, and you can use them to pay for up to 5% of future orders, this is straight-up cashback for frequent shoppers.
  3. 5% Credit Card Cashback: Pay using a high-yield cashback card to capture the final layer of savings.
    • SBI Cashback Card: 5% cashback on online spends.
    • Flipkart Axis Bank Card: 5% cashback on Flipkart.
  4. Premium Credit Cards: Magnus Burgundy 14% if on AEP, HSBC Premier 3% base = 6% to ACCOR,

When you compound the instant discount, the SuperCoin value, and your card rewards, your total effective savings sit comfortably between 18% and 20%+.

💡 Pro-Tip: How to Optimize the Loop

Do not buy one massive voucher all at once. To truly maximize the yield, stagger your purchases:

  • Step 1: Buy a smaller denomination gift card first.
  • Step 2: Wait a few moments for the 10% SuperCoins to hit your account.
  • Step 3: Purchase your larger, primary gift card and apply those newly earned SuperCoins at checkout to lower the out-of-pocket cost.

>

What can you use this for?

  • AI Subscriptions: ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro, Google One AI Premium.
  • Entertainment: YouTube Premium, Netflix, Spotify, Disney+ Hotstar (when billed through the app stores).
  • Storage & Apps: iCloud+ storage, Google One cloud space, premium productivity apps, or mobile gaming in-app purchases.

JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove booking on points — 162k for 5 nights at the cheapest, and the math actually works out

Posting this as some of the rates are so mouth watering that I ended up booking

Though JW is slightly on the outskirts of Mussourie it has a lot of inhouse fun activities and is a retreat for the full family and couples. It has consistently retailed at 35-40K plus taxes and is difficult to get bookings on rewards at low rates.

Two bookings I locked in to show what's actually possible:

  • Feb 4-9, 2027 (5 nights): 162,000 points vs ₹196,735 cash → ~1.21 INR per point
  • Sept 19-24, 2026 (5 nights): 172,000 points vs ₹212,990 cash → ~1.24 INR per point

Both come out to roughly ₹40k/night in cash terms, redeemed for ~32-34k points/night after the 5th night free.

Now the REAL DOUBLE DIP is buying the Marriott Bonvoy points for real cheap

We all know American Express Membership Rewards points transfer to Marriott Bonvoy at 1:1

So simply use the joining bonus of Amex Platinum Charge Card of 100K points plus teh 25K points you get as referral if you apply via the link https://americanexpress.com/en-in/referral/platinum?ref=aNUSHM9C2Z&XLINK=MYCP. (Offer valid till 31st May 2026 Only).

Further you can buy 10K points in a year at just 4K INR.

So effectively for 135K points you just pay 78K ( Plat Charge Fee)+ 4K Points purchase.

So effectively you can fund 83% of your points requirement for this 5 day fantastic holiday for 82K INR. With some more smart spending for gift cards on Amex Plat Charge you can easily score 25K points on a 2 lac spend and your holiday is almost fully funded.

1 year Calendar View - I even analyzed almost 10-11 months and below is my analysis.

  • July 13 – Sept 26, 2026: longest stretch of LOW rates (172k for 5 nights). Catch is it's monsoon/end-of-monsoon, so weather is a gamble.
  • Sept 13-26: the sweet spot imo. Still LOW pricing, monsoon mostly clearing, greenery at its peak.
  • Oct onwards: points pricing jumps fast. Long weekends and Diwali are 250-280k for 5 nights.
  • Feb 4, 2027: the single cheapest date for a 5-night stay at 162k. Weather should be solid.
  • March 21, 2027: another LOW at 161k, but isolated.

Why I think it's worth

  1. Some nice windows of award opportunity if you are flexible.
  2. 1.2+ INR/point is good value for Indian properties.
  3. 5th night free stacks nicely on the LOW dates.
  4. Free cancellation lets you hold something while you decide.

If you've got the points and any flexibility on dates, lock the LOW dates now. Worst case you cancel. Happy to answer questions on the booking process or transfer ratios if anyone needs them.

Accor vs Marriott - What to prioritise

Hi

I’ve been in a dilemma: Should I prioritize becoming Marriott Lifetime Elite by spending more nights with them, or switch to Accor? My issue with Accor is that the status isn’t lifetime. it’s always a chasing game. Marriott Gold Lifetime or any other lifetime status even silver, on the other hand, seems like better long-term value.

Any experiences?

Current tier:
Marriott - Silver elite (just downgraded from gold)
Accor - classic, got downgraded just this year

PS. I know accor is little easier to achieve but it doesn't stay with you is what I feel
