RAYE’s music may have saved my life

I’ve been thinking of posting this here for about 15-20 days now but always ended up untyping everything. Without going into details of my situation, I’m a guy in his late 20s who has struggled with depression and extremely nihilistic tendencies for most of his life. But everything peaked in the last one year. I went numb and ended up cutting off everyone from my life. For about a year I felt nothing and was fine (I clearly wasn’t) but I was definitely going to the darker end of things, making plans, making lists for a smoother transition for everyone etc (iykwim).

But then I randomly discovered RAYE through ‘Where’s my husband’ which led me to her album ‘THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE’. When I started listening to the album, it was just for the music and beats, it was catchy, it was fun. And then slowly I started noticing the lyrics.

The two songs that changed everything were ‘Click Clack Symphony’ and ‘Joy’. When I first came across these two, I went ‘ugh toxic positivity, eww’ but I kept listening because I loved the music. And eventually they melted the ice. Click Clack Symphony resonated with me at a spiritual level. I’m a guy who has had more closer female friendships in life, so I just saw myself in that MV. The song gave me reassurance and hope: ‘The cold never lasts, my darling, It just teaches the heart how to burn’. It made reconnect with my friends that I cut off and eventually made me seek professional help.

Then came Joy. I’m an atheist but I would consider this song a prayer. A self affirming prayer to myself. I cannot listen to these two without tears in my eyes: ‘There's a war in your mind, Your sorrows may endure, But the light comes with the morning, It's what you're made for, It can't hide, It's supernatural; I DECLARE there will be joy!’

I’m not magically healed, it’s an ongoing battle (and I think it’s forever gonna be the case), but RAYE’s music is one of the key things that started my journey. I don’t know what lies in future, I don’t know whether things will get better in future, but I’ll forever be grateful to RAYE’s music for this.

When RAYE said ‘I'm asking polite that if hope didn't find you, my friend, We advise you to listen again’, she was absolutely right. THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE did contain hope for me.

Maybe there is hope

I’m just so so grateful to Raye for releasing this music may contain hope. Although I haven’t got the same circumstances as the songs, sometimes all that keeps me holding on is the small relief listening to this album gives me. It gives me hope for the future, and that is the point.

My baby died just after he was born earlier this year and it’s been beyond devastating to learn to live this life we really hadn’t planned for. To go from being the happiest and most fulfilled we’d ever been to the emptiest and most depressed. The hopes we had for our son, and the excitement of the year to come.

And most of the time it is impossible to think about being happy ever again. Me and my husband have started singing happier times ahead to each other as a reminder. Maybe there is hope.

RAYE – My 21st Century Symphony restock?

Just managed to order My 21st Century Symphony from Banquet Records even though it only says “back in soon” with no date. I’ve been hunting this LP forever.
Does anyone know if there’s a reprint/restock happening?

Beyoncé fan here… y’all were right about RAYE.

Hey everyone! Im new here clearly haha. I’m a huge Beyoncé fan, and while we’re currently in the Beydration period waiting for new music, I decided it was a good time to really dive into another artist with incredible range and versatility. I kept seeing Beyoncé fans recommend RAYE, so I figured it was finally time.

I was already familiar with and loved “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND” I also knew she wrote “BIGGER” for The Lion King: The Gift, which has always been one of my favorite songs on that album.

So I finally sat down with My 21st Century Blues.

Ironically, my first listen didn’t really click like I wanted it too. I was on a road trip, and after about the fourth song I found myself struggling to connect fully. I liked the second track, but the third and fourth were hard to get into fully. And I decided that just wasn’t the time to get into a new album. However looking back, I don’t think that was the album’s fault, it was definitely mine.

Whenever I get into a new artist, I usually have a little ritual that consist of headphones on, no distractions, and really listening to the music in the comfort of my home.
So I gave it another shot, and it was a completely different expirence in the best way possible.

This time I really connected with the lyrics, the production, and especially her voice. She’s such a versatile vocalist, and I found myself appreciating the emotion behind each song so much more.

I also read about the story behind the album and how it was, in many ways, an “F-you” to the music industry after everything she went through, and how some of the songs had been sitting unreleased for years. Knowing that made me appreciate the project even more. Despite pulling from different periods of her career, I thought the album still flowed together beautifully and felt incredibly cohesive.
For a debut studio album, I honestly thought it was really strong.

Next up is My 21st Century Symphony (Live at the Royal Albert Hall). I’m a huge fan of live albums, so I’m really excited to experience her music in that setting.

Needless to say… y’all gained another RAYE fan. Looking forward to digging into the rest of her catalog.

Anything I should also listen too next that y’all recommend besides her second studio album “THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE”?

RAYE // My 21st Century Symphony: Live At The Albert Hall - Clear

I've had this is my wish list on Amazon for a while and was just skimming my list and saw it in stock. I have no idea how reliable this is or if this vendor can actually deliver the goods, but I gave it a shot. I guess it's also possible that this is a coming repress that people have been saying was eventually coming. But I know a lot of people want this so I'm posting here....

Also sorry can’t find how to add a flair….

Anyone else frustrated at how underrated RAYE is?

So I'm a big pop girlie. I love Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Tate McRae, etc. HOWEVER, I'm just blown away by RAYE. Everyone here knows what an incredible artist she is and I really don't have to explain!

Olivia Rodrigo just came out with *you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love* which I absolutely am obsessed with and have listened to probably a couple dozen times at least now. I see people saying they think it's AOTY material, and I totally agree. I also see people saying it's their favorite album of the year, and I can totally see that too...

I just have to believe that they haven't heard RAYE's new album lol. It has several styles of music, with an overarching message of hope and perseverance. Her voice is heavenly. She also wrote every SINGLE lyric by herself. Alas, I just don't think she gets the attention she deserves. I can't wait to see her again! Til then, I'll just keep revisiting her masterpiece.

Properly mastered vinyl

Anybody know if there is a timeline for the correct finalized version of the album to be issued on vinyl?

Not sure I was forced to add "flair/tags" to this. Chose SPOILER as some people might not know their vinyl isn't the correct recording until now.

I Know You’re Hurting. Beeping Sound?

There is a beeping sound (like an alarm clock) at 04:13 - 04:18 on the track and I can’t un-hear it.

Don’t get me wrong it’s an amazing song, I just don’t understand this sound in the track and I’ve never heard or seen anyone else comment on it before!

Is it a reference to something, a mistake, background audio when recording? Is it just me that thinks it sounds strange / out of place?
