An ethical question
The Scenario: You are a brilliant transplant surgeon with five dying patients, each needing a different organ (heart, lungs, kidneys, liver) to survive. A healthy traveler walks into your clinic for a routine check-up. You realize that you could quietly k ill the traveler, h arvest their organs, and save the five patients.
The Question: Does the duty to maximize the number of lives saved outweigh the fundamental duty not to intentionally kill an innocent ?
Your opinion is appreciated.
