"King of the Deep Wood" - NPC with normal commoner stats, but the druids and wood-elves let him run around (high on mushrooms) thinking he's a forest-demigod, because it amuses them.

House rules my `experienced` table used to improve the drama and RP of combat

Not right for every table obviously, it should fit the vibe of your table, not the other way around.
I wouldn't suggest this for an inexperienced group, it's supposed to be fun, most importantly.
